쇄빙연구선 ARAON호의 국부 빙하중 추정을 위한 영향계수행렬의 보완 (Enhanced Influence Coefficient Matrix for Estimation of Local Ice Load on the IBRV ARAON)

  • This paper focuses on the improvement of the influence coefficient matrix method for estimation of local ice load on the icebreaking research vessel ARAON. The influence coefficient matrix relates ice pressure on the hull plate to the measured/calculated hull strain/stress. Conventionally von Mises equivalent stresses representing hull stresses and ice pressure acting on the hull plate are utilized to assemble the influence coefficient matrix. Because of the three dimensional features of the ship-ice collision process, an enhanced method to assemble the influence coefficient matrix is derived considering ice loads in the X, Y, and Z direction simultaneously. Furthermore the location of ice loads acting on hull-plate may fall outside the measuring sensor area, and the enhanced influence coefficient matrix is modified to reduce the difference between the actual and the estimated ice loads by expanding the domain outward from the sensor area. The developed method for enhanced influence coefficient matrix is applied to IBRV ARAON during the 2019 Antarctic ice field test and the local ice loads in three directions are efficiently calculated compared to those by a conventional method.

  • In order to make a doubly-cowed sheet metal effectively, the sheet metal forming process has been developed by adopting the flexibility of the incremental forming process and the principle of bending deformation which causes slight deformation in thickness. The developed process is an unconstrained forming process without holder. The experimental equipment has been set up with the roll set which consists of two pairs of support rolls and one center roll. In order to analyze process parameters in the incremental roll forming process for the application to doubly curved ship hull plate, the orthogonal array is adopted. From the FEM results, among the process parameters, the distance between supporting rolls in pairs along the direction of one principal radius of curvature as well as the forming depth is shown to influence the generation of curvature in the same direction significantly. That is, the other distance between supporting rolls in pairs which are not located in the same direction of one principal radius of curvature, does not have an significant effect on the generation of the curvature in that direction. Also, the forming load and torque from the FEM simulation are acceptable to the system development of the incremental roll forming process for the forming of ship hull plate.

  • To achieve high productivity of assembly hull blocks, it is important to predict welding deformations accurately and to apply these data to the production planning. In the deformation analysis of hull block, simplified methods (elastic analysis) such as inherent method, equivalent loading method and local & global approach are usually used instead of thermal-elastic-plastic analysis because of calculating time and cost. To be much more practical, these simplified methods should consider gravity effect of plate and contact condition between the plate and the positioning jig. In this research, using finite element method, practical predicting method for the welding deformation of the curved hull blocks with considering welding sequence, gravity effect and contact condition is proposed.

  • In this study, a formula for thermal processing induced plate deformations, in terms of process parameters such as heat input and plate thickness, is developed analytically using an infinite laminated plate theory to consider cuboidal inclusion with an eigenstrains. When a plate has arbitrary heating lines, complex deformed shape of plate was calculated by the method estimating plate deformation proposed by this study. To make a curved surface of the ship hull, the line heating method is mainly used. Application in automatization of line heating was deliberate by using proposed method.

  • In order to manufacture a doubly curved sheet metal, the incremental roll forming process which adopts advantages such as the flexibility of the incremental forming process and continuous bending deformation of the roll forming process has been experimentally investigated. An experimental equipment was developed which was named as unit roll set (URS) consisting of two pairs of support rolls and an upper center roll. The upper roll equipped with the servo control unit is motor-driven and can be positioned in the vertical direction according to the user's commands. Four support rolls are idle, and they freely rotate only along the axis so as to transfer the plate more stably in the tangential direction of the rotation of the driving roll. In the process, the plate is deformed incrementally as deformation proceeds simultaneously in longitudinal and transverse directions. Through the experiments using URS, information regarding to forming schedules is found out to fabricate curved hull plates. This study demonstrates the further application of the incremental roll forming process in shipbuilding industries.

쌍동형 부유식 소파제의 소파성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Performance of Twin Hull Floating Breakwater)

  • This study is carried out the theoretical studies on wave transmission and motions in waves of twin hull type floating breakwaters with the vertical and horizontal plate. The method of calculation is based on the three dimensional singularity distribution method. The results show that wave transmission is affected by heave motion. Twin hull type is designed by the use of the theoretical method and good performance of the developed floating breakwater is confirmed for longer wave period.

Strength Analysis of Mark III Cargo Containment System using Anisotropic Failure Criteria

  • Membrane type Mark III cargo containment system (CCS) is considered in this study to investigate its strength capability under applied loads due to liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo. A rectangular plated structure supported by inner hull structure is exemplified from Mark III CCS according to classification society's guidance and it is assumed as multi-layered structure by stacking plywood, triplex, reinforced polyurethane (PU) foam and series of mastic upon inner hull structure. Commercially available general purpose finite element analysis package is used to have reliable FE models of Mark III CCS plate. The FE models and anisotropic failure criteria such as maximum stress, Hoffman, Hill, Tsai-Wu and Hashin taking into account the direction dependent material properties of Mark III CCS plate components and their material properties considering a wide variation of temperature due to the nature of LNG together form the strength analysis procedure of Mark III CCS plate. Strength capability of Mark III CCS plate is understood by its initial failure and post-initial failure states. Results are represented in terms of failure loads and locations when initial failure and post-initial failures are occurred respectively. From the results the basic design information of Mark III CCS plate is given.

선체 변동 압력에 관한 실험과 이론의 비교 연구 (A Study of a Correlation between Experiments and Calculations of Pressure Fluctuation on Hull Surface)

  • 프로펠러에 의한 선체변동압력을 추정하기 위해 3개의 선체에 7개의 프로펠러를 장착하여 실험과 계산치를 비교하였다. 변동압력의 계측은 KRISO의 공동터널에서 평판에 대하여 수행하였으며, 수치계산은 양력면 이론과 패널법을 사용한 수치프로그램(X-ForShip)을 사용하였다. 평판에 대한 실험값을 복잡한 선미형상에 적용하기 위하여 강체경계율(SBF)이 수정계수로 결정되었다. 실선 변동압력의 예측과 실험치의 수정을 위하여 복잡한 선미형상에서의 변동 압력을 계산하였다. 계산치와 수정된 실험치와의 좋은 일치를 보였으며, 수성계수로써 약 0.65-0.7의 값이 결정되었다.

  • The line array roll set(LARS) process, as one of many kinds of incremental forming processes, is a continuous process in which a flat metal plate is formed into a singly or doubly curved plate through successive passes of forming rolls. It was found that the curvature level of the formed plates in the previous study was well over the curvature required in shipyards. This fact shows that the LARS method has good potential for shipbuilding applications. The major purpose of the present study is to estimate experimentally the general applicability of the line array roll set process for the manufacture of ship hull plates. In this study, the target shapes are selected through investigation of the shape classification of ship hull plates that comprise a certain vessel. Forming processes for twisted shapes are analyzed with the finite element method(FEM) and the results of experimental work are presented. On the basis of the experimental and numerical results, the LARS process is applied to the production of real outer hull plates of a small patrol ship.
