  • The purpose of this study is to examine residents' perceptions of the outdoor spaces of environmentally-friendly apartment complexes focused on quality of life. On-site intercept surveys were performed to collect data and samples were selected from the residents who are currently living in two different environmentally-friendly certified apartment complexes. This study has examined importance and satisfaction of outdoor spaces of the study sites as they relate to quality of life, as well as they correlation between the New Environmental Paradigm(NEP), and satisfaction and loyalty, respectively. Data were analyzed using several statistical methods including descriptive statistics, Importance-Satisfaction Analysis(ISA), t-test, and correlation. The results suggest that outdoor spaces of the apartment complexes are perceived as an important place to improve residents' quality of life. Residents showed a high satisfaction rate to the natural environmental features(e.g. natural areas present, amenity of space) while they showed a lower satisfaction rate to the social environmental features(e.g. access to public transportation). Although most residents tend to have the New Environmental Paradigm based on the study results, NEP did not influence the level of satisfaction in environmentally-friendly apartment complexes. In contrast, there was a significant relationship between NEP and loyalty. In addition, a strong correlation emerged between satisfaction of outdoor spaces and loyalty to the housing estates. Given these results, various recommendations were given to promote better use of outdoor spaces of dwellings to improve residents' quality of life.

  • A study on the relation between some husbandry practices and brucellosis in goats in Bangladesh was conducted at selected areas of Mymensingh and Dhaka district, Bangladesh, from March 2005 to May 2006. Sera from 300 goats were tested by Rose bengal test (RBT), plate agglutination test (PAT), tube agglutination test (TAT) and mercaptoethanol test (MET). Out of the 300 goats, 1.670% (n=5) were positive to RBT and PAT respectively, and 2.0% (n=6) were positive to TAT and 2.33% (n=7) were positive to MET. The prevalence of brucellosis was bigger in goats reared collectively (n=2, 4%) than reared individually (n=5, 2%), and bigger in goats housed with concrete floor (n=2, 4%) than that of bare floor (n=5, 2%). The rate of brucellosis was higher in goats keep separately (n=6, 2.61%) than that of kept with other animals (n=1, 1.43%) especially with cattle. Out of 290 goats from free grazing, 7 were positive but no positive reactor(n=10) was found in non grazing goats. In conclusion, however, seroprevalence of brucellosis had no statistically significant association with rearing type, housing type and grazing or not.

  • Building deterioration would be proceeded by various causes such as physical, social, economic degradation. The deterioration would be inevitably prevented or delayed to get the decent function and performance in various building part and components. The maintenance and management are continued to provide the decent living condition for the household. The maintenance means mainly a repair, including the on-time and longterm plan. The longterm repair would be conducted by the systemic preparation in management activity and a required cost. Therefore, the annual due for the longterm repair plan is important to prepare the repair cost in a required time. In this paper, it aimed at analyzing the longterm repair cost and modelling to forecast the required cost in total area, number of household and time elapse in apartment housing. The estimation model of a repair cost is used with a power function which has a good statistics. Results of this study are shown that the sample has a longterm repair due in a $2,032won/m^2{\cdot}yr$ averagely which is higher than $912won/m^2{\cdot}yr$ in domestic. Second, the longterm repair due is proportionally correlated with the time elapse in both a total area and the number of household. Third, the estimation model for the longterm repair amount is suitable for the power function which is most in any other estimation models. Fourth, the ration of the longterm plan repair due a year to the cumulated longterm amount is about 26%.

One hundred sixty single households were surveyed, with questionnaires for 15days from April 1 to April 15 of 2002, and analyzed with descriptive statistics. The results were as follows: about 30.8% of total single households in the sample were in the income group of 1,500,000 thought less than 2,000,000 won. The size of income for the 30's was less than that for the 40's. Compared with male single households, female single households were more in both low and high levels of income. The saving rate tended more or less to be low. The more the age, the higher the saving rate. As for debt, the 40's single households, male single households, high school single households (compared to the 30's single households, female single households, university and graduate single households, respectively) were relatively higher. In general, the single households tended to have debts due to preparation for housing, credit over use. The assets tended to be managed by themselves. The economic preparation for the old life was done by banking system rather than insurance. The average monthly living costs was higher in the age of the 40's single than the age of the 30's single. The living costs of the female single households was higher or lower than those of the male single households. As for consumption patterns, there was the most in the expenditure allocation for food away from home, then for culture entertainmentㆍsocial life, and for clothing and shoes. As for the convenience of the consumption life in overall, there were more responses in moderation and inconvenience than in convenience.

Data analysis was concentrated on measuring questionnaires and SPSSWIN 16.0 was used for statistics of frequency analysis and average analysis. As a result, first, empty house's background occurrence and environment was investigated. Second, due to dead mine and rural exodus, there was increase in the number of empty houses, which damaged regional scenary. Furthermore, the region became a crime-ridden district, which is a social issue. Third, it was found that plans as empty house remodeling, policy support, various alternatives, systematic management, housing welfare, and continuous promotion were needed. • This study aims to spatialize the gap between obesity levels through the body mass index, an objective indicator of the level of health among vulnerable people. Thus, areas where the BMI showed cluster patterns with spatial high and low values were extracted and the characteristics of the region were analyzed. The analysis showed that the I statistics for the obesity rate were 0.07 and the z-score was 4.39, confirming spatial autocorrelation. For z-score, it was much larger than the maximum threshold of 2.57. This means that the rate of obesity among the socially vulnerable is regional, and this gap is spatially significant. The results of comparing and analyzing the local environment for these areas of obesity and health care were found to be areas with poor public transportation, less readily available parks, and a concentration of single and multi-generation housing. The analysis results of this study are meaningful in that they provide spatial implications for the health of the socially vulnerable class that previous studies have neglected.

  • Identification of factors influencing regional population is critical for establishing government's population policies as well as for improving residents' social, economic and cultural well-being in the region. In this study we analysed the data from 2019 Population Housing Survey in Korea to identify the factors affecting the population size in each of the three regions: Seoul, metropolitan cities, and provincial regions. We applied a Bayesian quantile regression to account for asymmetry and heteroscedasticity of data. The analysis results showed that the effects of factors vary greatly between the three regions of Seoul, metropolitan cities, and provincial regions as well as between sub regions within the same region. These results suggest that population-related variables have very heterogeneous characteristics from region to region and therefore it is important to establish customized population policies that suit regional characteristics rather than uniform population policies that apply to every region.

  • This study aims to discuss the role and function of social capital in explaining social risk perception among female-headed households. This study analyzed the level of social risk perception and its determinant factors of female-headed households using 2020 Social Survey data from Statistics Korea. The analysis revealed that socio-demographic factors and social capital influenced the perception of social risk. In addition, the social capital related to social safety was associated with the level of social risk perception. Even after controlling for various factors, the social risk perception level among female-headed households was higher than among male-headed ones. Among female-headed households, social capital such as compliance with regulations or ability to cope with risk; demographic factors such as age, residential area, and health status; and economic factors such as income level and housing type were found to affect social risk perception. Based upon the findings this study devises ways to accumulate social capital that can be obtained in cooperative relationships between families and communities.
