This study examined the awareness of the middle aged about the digital home system and well-being apartment design elements in order to suggest the design guidelines for planning of the elderly housing environment. By literature review, the concept and characteristics of the digital home system and well-being Apartment design elements were summarized the degree of satisfaction and preference of middle aged for these characteristics were investigated and analyzed. For this study, a questionnaire survey of 156 housewives living in apartment complex of Busan was carried out. The results of this study are as follows: The middle aged were generally short of recognition for digital skill and service, and also they showed positive evaluations to a few useful items of digital home system. These items belong under safety security system and interior environment control system and provided for convenient & comfortable life. Accordingly, satisfied digital home system can apply basic design element for housing for elderly. Whereas, the middle-aged were not satisfied with housework help system and cultural life system because items of these systems were not various and complicate to us. So, for the improvement of not satisfied digital home system, we needed development of digital contents and marketing & management for high accessibility and easy useability. The middle aged will concern about health & environment friendly continuously and become to stay long in their housing as the characteristics of elderly. So, It is necessary to be considered well-being apartment design elements of health & environment friendly very actively and lastingly in elderly housing environment design. Also, the awareness of middle aged for digital home system and well-being apartment design elements varied according to the background characteristics. This suggests housing environment for elderly life is considered differently as various background characteristics of middle aged.
From 1990s to the present, in China, residential communities has developed rapidly in terms of government policies and living environments. With economic development, dwelling commercialization and socialization gradually reshaped the housing distribution system and local government management in Chinese urban area. After this process, dwellings were endowed with commodity attributes, which were planned and designed depending on residents' requirements of life. During the 30 years of social transformation, Chinese citizens' lifestyle also had huge changes. In this period, the forms of residential area improved constantly to keep pace with social development. This study aims to research the features of contemporary communities and survey citizens' lifestyle changes to find the reasons of the evolution of communities. Moreover, in this paper, there is a clear explanation of the reasons why gated communities are popular in Chinese urban area. In addition, comprehensive data analysis is derived from a questionnaire administered in Shanghai, China. In this part, the questionnaire surveys what factors about lifestyle influence the transformation of living environments and residential buildings. The results of survey show that residents have housing preferences dependent on their lifestyles, and their daily needs related with environmental features.
Based on residents' survey data in Seoul, this study attempts to empirically answer to four research questions regarding neighborhood relations (NR) which are necessary for community building: How important NR is compared to other social relations, what factors establish NR, how large NR's geographical extent is, and what are major meeting places among neighbors. A series of statistical analyses demonstrates that characteristics of NR vary greatly by family life cycle. In the stage of couple without child, NR has no significant meaning. NR becomes important from the stage of child care, and it is formed through the medium of children, particularly children's schools in the stage of child of elementary school as well as secondary schools. As the result, NR's geographical boundary extends beyond residential block or multi-family housing (apartment) estate while cafe and restaurant serve as dominant meeting places in these life cycle stages. On the contrary, after children are married and leave home, casual encounters resulted from spatial proximity become an important cause of NR. Likewise neighbors' geographical distribution is relatively concentrated within residential block or apartment estate, while community facilities play a role of meeting places as originally planned and designed.

Recently most Elderly in 2050 Our country is becoming an "aging society" at a speed far more rapidly than expected, the interests of silver industry is also increasing. Many researches about the elderly are already presented in academic world, especially in the field of housing environment, the housing plans on the basis of physical, social and emotional characteristics for the elderly are proposed. As the number of elderly participating in economy activities is getting higher, we selected on "active aging" generation which given a definition by OECD. In this research, we examine the present situation related to the needs for leisure time with the elderly who want to have their comfortable life. This purpose of this study is to survey the residential facilities for elderly, and how that facilities are reflected to their needs for the leisure. This study will indicate to the direction of plans in elderly housing.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the middle-class housewives` experience of housing environment through their own cognitive expressions. Subjects were 18 housewives living in the apartments at Junggye-Dong, Seoul and Field survey method was used. Indepth interview technique with planned questionnaire was used. The contents of individual`s housing life history were recorded by means of a recording machine. Cognitive expressions of subjects ontheir experience of housing environment were analiyzed by Content Analysis. Subjects have respectively experienced various housing types. The housing experiences were classified by stimuli and respones. Stimuli were again classified by the factors and characteristics of housing environment, whereas responses were classified by types and directions. Negative experiences were more frequent than positive ones. Negative evaluations were appeared more frequently In such case as the existence of community facilities, interior structure, bathrooms, and heating systems. The positive emotional experiences appeared more frequently were the natural characteristic$ of outdoors. When all the contents were analyzed by housing types experienced, subjects negatively remembered community facilities in high-rise apartments, and positively outdoors in detached single houses including traditional houses, and negatively heating systems in low-rise apartments and tenement houses. These contents, especially positive and negative aspects of past experience. can be used as basic data to understand residents` reponses and to plan furture houses more desirable for them.
As a way to serve housing information providing on internet will be a useful method in the near future in Korea. This study was planned to review the housing information on internet network which provided by U. S. .University CES(cooperative extension service) Comparative analysis was used as a Research method in terms of contents and items about housing information on internet provided by U. S. university CES during two weeks each in August 1997 and July 1998. Findings are as follows; Universities providing housing information and information items had been remarkably increased during one year since August 1997. Most of housing informations except one university CES were free to use in 1997 but three university CES among 12 universities showed only the title of items with charge amounts in 1998. Informations about 'Housing Management' and 'Environment' items were the large parts of the housing information in 1997. In 1998. 'Environment' items were remarkably increased. Items bout insects and mildew removing were large portion of the 'Housing Management'. Items about energy saving water and air quality were large portion of the 'Environment' These findings will be useful to develop items of housing information on internet network with Korean language which should be compensated by the survey research.

The government began to move large scale factories in city out to the suburbs because the city we live in is getting over-populated and becoming a highly congested district. However, because of alteration of use The transfed site of factory became to be mixed and used in residence and factory facility. Lately, as criminal technique and personality become cruel and feral, crime occurrence rose on the one of most important thing that decide resident's quality of life. This research tries to find come fear element which resident feel in sub-industry and improvement item for crime prevention. The purpose of this survey is to prevent crime by developing a proper housing environment. The survey was planned to find out factors of resident's awareness of fear about crime through pre-study and analyzed physical surrounding through spot survey. Through these investigation, can make following conclusion. First, The importance of lighting plan throughout the city is necessary to decrease fear of crime. Second, active crime prevention activity is required in park and playgrounds.
The purpose of this study was to identify the problems in the consumption life of household over the family life cycle so that they would support to select the consumer education subjects and the establish the long-term household plan. For these purposes, a survey was conducted using questionnaire. The data used in this study included 562 homemakers living in Seoul. Statistics used for data analysis were frequency distribution, Mean, Percentile, One-way Anova, Scheffie-test, Multiple Classification Analysis. Major findings were as follows; 1) In the level of the problems in the consumption life of household, housing problem, durable goods problem, healthy-medical problem and child education problem area were in the low level. Leisure problem and properties management problem area were in the high level. 2) The problems in the consumption life of household differed significantly over the family life cycle. 3) When controlling family monthly income and education level of husband was compared with not-controlling them, the influences of family life cycle on the problems in the consumption life were as follows. (1)At housing problem area, the effect of the FLC was higher in controlling them than not-controlling them. (2) At other problems the effects of the FLC was lower or same in controlling them than not-controlling them.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the needs for managerial service for residents in multi-family housing. For the survey and statistical analysis, the questionnaires from 484 residents and 84 housing managers of multi-family housing within the Seoul metropolitan area were used. The analytical methods adopted in this study were frequency, percentage, t-test, and factor analysis. The results of this study are as follow : (1) Basic services within a multi-family housing included management, minimum residential self governance, basic etiquette, and community program. And additional service were categorized by the health and entertainment program, the consumer service program, the residential life services, the information and financial services program, and the children's program. (2) The favorite needs of residents' additional services were the market news and information, the programs related health, the mail services, the health diagnosis service programs etc. But, housing managers' needs were the market news and information, and the flea market. As to the results analyzing the needs for additional service fir residents, it was found there were differences between residents and housing managers.
Over the course of time, changes occur in family composition and members, and such changes impact housing life as well. In contrast to shared housing structures such as apartments, detached houses show a greater variety of changes to interior spaces such as family composition, rural area, natural environment, and modernization. The purpose of this study is to examine the change and factors in interior spaces in detached houses of rural area. Out of 40 houses studied in a 1995 survey, 23 showed changes when studied again in 2015, and 13 were selected for final analysis. This study indicated that at the time of the survey in 1995, two aspects of change occurred which showed in interior space only and internalization through interior-specific additions and improvements. An analysis of interior changes demonstrated there was significant change in kitchens, multipurpose rooms, and other spaces focused on housework and homemaking. Internalization through interior-specific is showed in balcony. As family member is increasing, it is intended to be increasing size of interior space; however, it is showed to increase size of interior space in the step that family member is reducing. It is reason that more spaces are needed when their children whose the old are living in detached houses of rural area are visited.
