The Residents' Needs for Establishing Direction Korean Rural Viewscape Houses (농촌 경관주택의 방향 설정을 위한 거주자 요구 조사)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the residents' needs fur rural houses and to suggest the policy directions for developing Korean rural viewscape houses. The subjects were 386 houses and residents. They were selected according to accessibility, area characteristics, administrative district, and village types. The data were collected by using the interview and observation method based on the questionnaire. By analyzing the residents' needs for rural houses, the following conclusions were derived: 1) In order to preserve the rural characteristic, the government should lead to establish the yard space and the exterior design factors such as wall material and color, and the shape, material, and color of roof. 2) At the same time, the government should provide the residents with the subsidy for house improvement, so that they can build the desirabe size of house and the aged remodel their houses. 3) The contemporary design model of rural Han-ok should be developed and built. 4) The new rural house model improving roof design should be developed, because present houses with slab roofs and skirt roofs spoil the harmony with the rural natural environment. 5) The direction of rural houses for viewscape was defined as to satisfy residents' needs for convenient housing lift and to harmony visual and physical factors - building form, material and color - involving Korean rural housing culture.

  • This study focuses on the proposal of the basic data for the design guideline on the coming design, through the comparison analysis of the community facility's layout type inside housing complex, the space configuration and the characteristic of space program for the achievement and improvement of the physical space to cultivate the sense of community. This study investigate interviews with designers, administrators, residents, and site survey. The result of study shows that the community facilities in the public rental apartments have changed to include various programs and to increase the area like the public sales apartments, but there are spacial transformation if the community facilities do not apply the residents characteristic.

  • The purpose of the study is to propose architectural design standards of the cafeteria planning in educational facilities. In the spatial organization planning, the preferred location of the cafeteria is on the first floor and the types of the floor plan are followed by the forms and space structure of the school building. The area of the cafeteria is related to the size of seating area per person. The direction must sublate northern faced. In interior moving lines for service, the arrange of dining tables has to reflect distance of dining tables or location of pillars. The dining space should better have more than two entrances in terms of occupancy type and convenience. Thus the serving line has to be planed thoughtfully by various factors to avoid confusion caused in serving process. In multipurpose use of the cafeteria, it is feasible when hygiene and management is considered.

  • This study tries to promote an effective use of semi-public space of urban street in social point of view. The main results are follows. First, semi-public space is occupied by private users and it makes urban landscape unrecoverable. The real problem is that people do not know the space is for public use rather than pure private use. Second, the standard of semi-public space requirement should be changed from floor space to lot area. In addition, the standard should apply to buildings on an area less than a legal standard. Third, some ways of attaining the semi-public space in relation with adjacent lots should be introduced in the case of urban redevelopment nad living condition improvement projects.

A Study of the Stall Keeper Utilization and Improvement in Life Area (생활공간에 있어서 노점상의 이용과 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study identifies behavioral characteristics of stall keepers in Taegu area. Based on a survey data collected from stall keepers and store owners, the following results are derived. 1) The paddlers around residential areas bring about unsanitary living condition by neglecting cleaning after business and leaving their equipments for business continuation. 2) Residents do not show strong malice to stall keepers because they understand that most stall keepers do their business in order to keep their living. 3) Store owners know that the existence of stall keepers attracts more customers to their stores, thus show positive attitudes towards stall keepers. By sumarizing above results, we suggest that goverment authority should search some alternative policies rathfe than strict legal enforcements.

Housing History of Sakhalin Returnees in Ansan Gohyangmaeul (사할린 영주귀국 동포의 주거생활사 - 안산시 고향마을 거주 강제이주 동포를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this research was to find out the housing history of Sakhalin returnees in Ansan Gohyangmaeul since leaving hometown under the Japanese ruling period, who experienced two international migration for one's life. Face to face interview had been done with 20 returnees in the community center of Ansan Gohyangmaeul during October to December, 2008. The semi-structured questionnaire about housing the respondents lived in major life changes used to guide the individual interview. The results showed that personal life as well as housing histories were differed by the reason to move into Sakhalin, which still influenced the returnee' life up to now. The housing they had lived changed from barracks like a training camp, to Japanese small wooden cottage/row house, and then Russian brick house/ apartment. Housing alteration and addition and rebuilding were common to renew the old existing house. The boundary of residing area was mostly limited to the first residing location under soviet governing system throughout one's life without a long distance move. Housing satisfaction was very high in Gohyangmaeul because of the improvement of housing facilities and residence itself as well as the convenience of housing management, compared to former residence in Sakhalin. Economic and emotional aspects of life satisfaction were also high during about 8 years of living in the apartment. Forced movers still require the compensation on hand to either Korean or Japanese government no matter the amount. Social integration to the Korean community would be one of the main issues to new returnees as well as the already returned. In-depth interviews of case study need to reveal the unique housing experience of the forced mover according to the type of leaving hometown by oneself or by parents, and to returned region and time to motherland.

A study on the elimination of static electricity by use of beta radiation source (Beta 방사선원을 이용한 정전기 제거법에 대한 고찰)

  • This experiment is based on "the feasible improvement studies for an eliminating device of the static electricity which applies the ionizing effect of beta radiation." In order to accomplish this object, the following problems were necessarily considered to investigate and to determine. The efficiency of the elimination of static electricity was determined by means of measuring the ion current between electrically charged plates with micro-ammeter. The effects of various factors, i.e., the distance between charged plate and radiation source, the activity of radiation source, the electric otential and the area of the charged plate, the shape of the source housing, the lining of backscattering material (Pb) on the source housing surface and blowing of ionized air, on the static electricity eliminating efficiency were studied. The beta radiation sources used in this experiment were S$^{35}$ and Sr$^{90}$ -Y$^{90}$ . It was revealed that ion current increased with source activity, the electric potential and area of the plates, the lead (Pb) lining on the surface of the source housing and the velocity of the ionized air blowing. As one could expect the S$^{35}$ was more effective to increase the ion current since it is known to be a higher specific ionization source than Sr$^{90}$ -Y$^{90}$ .   • This study aims to derive street design alternative which can be applied to residential area as the functions of land use have been changed. The main findings are as follows; First, the study area in this research is on the process of the functional transition from full residential use to residential-commercial mixed use with cafes and restaurants. Second, dead-end streets in residential areas needs to be widened in order to meet the increasing needs of pedestrians and cars. One of the suggested strategies is to remove fences on the dead-end streets. Third, based on the main findings, this research can suggest following policies. Citizen participation is necessary in building land use plans and space design in old residential areas. Citizens can participate in architectural and landscape contracts, district-unit plan with the help of experts such as urban planners and architects.

  • Since 1970s, the metropolitan-cities in Korea constructed enormous capacities of apartment housings to settle the inferior housing conditions. However, from a stand point of children, the formality of the apartment housing is too tight and specialized to give children enough space to play in and the location and physical area of that is bad and insufficient either. In this study, progressive method for the playground is offered to improve the conditions of playground in apartment housings through the examinations of the utilization of the playground and the problems of that. As a result, three of items for the improvement of the playgrounds are suggested. First, re-interventions for the rules which prescribe the area of the playgrounds are needed. Second, the locations of the playgrounds should be based on the children's playing activities and parents' profitable apprehend. Third, the access to the playgrounds should be based on the children's conveniences. In order to perform these recommended items, objective POE data for the playgrounds through the systematic examinations are also needed in addition to the abilities of the planners.

  • This study is to solve this problem, as the center of China in the east started the investigation. In eastern China : rapid economic growth, Population is concentrated, Migration of rural population to large cities. So I chose this as the survey area. Including central and eastern China : Shandong Province, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Fujian Province, Anhui Province, Jiangxi Province and Shanghai. Research studies as a whole is divided into three main parts: The first is the basic situation of rural housing survey. Including : housing age, wall materials, roof form, house equipment, housing composition, etc. Then home for further investigation of these houses exist in the main room on the device and the joint space problems. Finally, to address these issues, the survey specifically classified as a pure compound the family home and two cases. Through interviews, to understand the survey requirements for housing improvement. Finally, comparison summary, conclusion.
