사출성형 및 열간가압 소결법으로 제작된 지르코니아 세라믹 임플란트의 소결물성 및 미세구조적 결함 (Sintered Properties and Microstructural Defects of Zirconia Ceramic Implant Fabricated by Injection Molding and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP))

  • 3Y-TZP (3 mol% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals, 3Y-TZP) ceramics are emerging as dental implant materials due to their superior optical and mechanical properties as well as excellent biophysical properties, in spite of low bioactivity. In this study, we investigated to sintered properties and microstructural defects of dental zirconia implants fabricated by ceramic injection molding and post-HIP (Hot isostatic pressing) processing and analyzed the processing parameters related with the obtainment of its high sinterd density. Sintered and microstructural parameters, i.e, apparent density, grain size and phase composition of zirconia implants fabricated by injection molding were dependent on the fixtute size and implant type. Maximum sintered density of 99.2% and minimum grain size of 0.3-0.4 ㎛ were obtained from large-scaled 2-body sample. In 1-body ceramic implant, high sintered density of 99.5% was obtained, but it had a little monoclinic phase and wide grain size distribution.

  • Thermoelectric $Zn_{4}Sb_3$ alloy powders were synthesized from elemental powders by mechanical alloying process and consolidated by hot pressing under controlled atmosphere. Single phase $Zn_{4}Sb_3$ was not obtained using a nominal stoichiometric composition, but near single phase $Zn_{4}Sb_3$ with remnant elemental Zn having a relatively high density was produced using a nominally 11.7 $at.\%$ Zn rich powders. Phase transformations during mechanical alloying were systematically investigated using XRD and SEM. Thermoelectric and transport properties were evaluated for the hot pressed specimens and compared with results of analogous studies.

철계 액상을 통한 붕화지르코늄의 소결 (Sintering of Zriconium Diboride through Fe-based Liquid Phase)

  • In the present study the effect of the addition of Fe on the pressureless and hot press sintering behavior was studied under Ar atmosphere. Pressureless sintering was performed 1900~220$0^{\circ}C$ under. Ar atmosphere. The addition of 1 wt% Fe was increased effectively of the sintered density. However it was impossible to obtain high density higher than 90%,. Zr-Fe-B compound in liquid phase was observed from the EDS and WDS analysis. It was considered that sinterability was enhanced due to the mass transfer through Fe based liquid phase formed at the sintering temperature. Hot pressing was performed at 1600~1$700^{\circ}C$ under Ar atmos-phere for 1 hr. It was possible obtain 95% relative density of ZrB2 specimen which is higher density at pressure-less sintering. It could be thought that ZrB2 particles was rearranged through liquid phase by applied pressure during initial stage of sintering.

  • Thd specimens were melited in high frequency induction furnace. The samples for measurements were prepared by machining cylinder of 9.5mm diameter and 15mm height. These samples were then hot-pressed according to strain rate ( .epsilon. ). These samples were decanned and cut out, and subsequently heat treated at 1000 .deg. C for 4hours. These were investigated for the change of microstructure, domain pattern, X-ray diffraction and magnetic properties. The stress distributions in the specimens during compressing process were calculated by a finite element method program(SPID). The calculated stresses were effective stress( .sigma. $_{eff}$), compressive direction stress( .sigma. $_{z}$), and shear stress( .tau. $_{rz}$ ). These stresses were compared with the experimental data.a.a.

Extrusion of CP Grade Titanium Powders Eliminating the need for Hot Pre-compaction via Hot Isostatic Pressing

  • Chemically pure, hydride/dehydride titanium powders were cold pre-compacted then extruded at $850^{\circ}C$ and $\sim450MPa$ under argon. The extrusions were 100% dense with a narrow band of surface porosity and equiaxed microstructure of similar magnitude to the starting material. The tensile properties of the bars were better than conventionally extruded CP titanium bar product. Outcomes from this study have assisted in the identification of a number of key characteristics important to the extrusion of titanium from pre-compacted CP titanium powders, allowing the elimination of canning and hot isostatic pressing (HIPping) of billets prior to extrusion as per conventional PM processes.

  • Type I clathrate $Ba_8Al_{16}Si_{30}$ was produced by arc melting and hot pressing and thermoelectric properties were investigated. Negative Seebeck coefficient at all temperatures measured, which means that the majority carriers are electrons. Electrical conductivity decreased by increasing temperature and thermal conductivity was 0.012 W/cmK at room temperature and dimensionless thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) was 0.01 at 873K.

  • Effects of the chemical composition and sintering atmosphere on the formation of reaction phases and physical properties of reactive hot-pressed TiB2-AlN-BN composites were investigated. At N2 atmosphere, TiN was formed by the reaction between Ti and N2, which inhibited the densification and results in inferior mechanical-and electrical properties of the composites. However, at Ar atmosphere, enhanced densification and physical properties of composites were obtained due to that the TiN formation reaction was excluded. Densification of the composites was also hindered by BN, therefore, inferior mechanical-and electrical properties of composites were obtained with amount of BN in the starting materials. At Ar atmosphere, TiB2-AlN-BN composites having 318 MPa of flexural strength, 3.5 MPa.m1/2 of fracture toughness and 276$\mu$Ω.cm of electrical resistivity were fabricated from mole ratio 1:2:1.6 of Ti-Al-BN mixtures.

열간가압소결법으로 제조된 Sialon세라믹스의 고온 Erosion 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Erosion Properties of Sialon Ceramics by Hot-Pressing)

  • Three kinds of the sialon ceramics with and without TiN additions were hot pressed. Hardness and fracture toughness were measured with prepared specimens to study the effect of additives on the mechanical properties. A gas blast type erosion tester was employed to examine erosion behavior of the specimens up to 600 $^{\circ}$C. Erosion tests showed an increase of erosion rate up to 400 $^{\circ}$C and a gradual decrease of erosion rate 500 $^{\circ}$C for all kinds of sialon. The results also showed that erosion rates of the sialons were controlled better by microstructure factors than by mechanical properties such as fracture toughness.

EFFECT OF BINARY ADDITIVES ON THE MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF MECHANICALLY GROUND Fe-Nd-B MAGNETS

  • The magnetic properties of the hot-pressed magnets made from the Fe-Nd-B alloys, mechanically ground and subsequently blended with binary additives such as Al-Cu and Ag-Zn before hot pressing, were investigated. The coercivities of the magnets increased as the concentration of Al-Cu increased up to 1 wt.% or up to 3 wt.% in the case of Ag-Zn. At higher concentrations the coercivities decreased markedly. The maximum gain in coercivity by the addition was about 20 %. typical values of $_{i}H_{c}$ and $B_{r}$ of a hotpressed magnet containing 1 wt.% Al-Cu were 18 kOe and 7 kG, respectively. It was found that Cu, Ag, and Zn, which diffused into the magnet during hot pressing, were mostly concentrated on the Nd-rich grain boundary phase whereas Al was present not only in the grain boundary region but also in the matrix grains.

용융탄산염 연료전지용 화이버 강화 $\gamma$-LiAlO$_2$ 매트릭스의 적층에 의한 강도 증진 (Strengthening of Fiber-Reinforced $\gamma$-LiAlO$_2$ Matrixes for Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell by Laminatin)

  • 용융탄산염 연료전지(Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell)용 알루미나 화이버 강화 ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 매트릭스의 적층방법에 따른 미세구조 변화 및 강도 증진 효과에 대하여 연구하였다. 테이프 캐스팅법으로 제조한 green sheet 2장을 45$^{\circ}C$에서 1kg/$ extrm{cm}^2$의 압력으로 1분간 hot pressing 하여 제조한 적층 매트릭스와 double casting 시 1단계 캐스팅한 green sheet를 3.5 시간 정도 건조한 뒤 2 단계 캐스팅 하여 제조한 적층 매트릭스의 기공율은 모두 50% 이상이었다. 알루미나 화이버 강화 적층 매트릭스의 강도는 비적층 매트릭스(115gf/$ extrm{mm}^2$)에 비해 70% 이상 증진되었으며 적층에 의해 화이버 배향성에 따른 강도의 편향성을 제거할 수 있었다. Triple casting에 의한 적층 메트릭스의 강도는 double casting 시에 비해 약간 증진되었으나 캐스팅 방향에 따른 강도의 편향성이 존재할 뿐만 아니라 기공율도 50% 이하였다. Double casting에 의한 적층 매트릭스의 강도 (195 gf/$\textrm{mm}^2$)는 hot pressing 하여 제조한 매트릭스 (212gf/$\textrm{mm}^2$)에 비해 약간 낮지만 MCFC 매트릭스 제조공정 면에서 double casting 법이 효율적인 적층공정으로 평가되었다.
