  • Protection of gas turbine blade from its erosion and abrasion at high temperature and pressure is the first goal to cleanup the hot gas upstream for IGCC and PFBC. Ceramic filters represent an attractive technology for particle removal at high temperature and high pressure condition. They have demonstrated being a good system for improvement of thermal efficiency and reduction of effluent pollutants in advanced coal-based power systems such as IGCC and PFBC. Ceramic filter elements currently being developed were evaluated in the previous paper. In this paper, we measured the ash size and distribution on cleaning of ceramic candle filter. The results are as follows : in this experimental range, ceramic candle filter was shown to be fully adequate for the removal process of dust under high temperature and pressure. Also filtration efficiency of ceramic candle filter was higher than 98% compared with the regulation limit of particle size in gas turbine inlet.

  • Computational simulation has been performed to design the filtration system for Korea model IGCC demonstration plant. The filtration system for optimal design has four effective filters corresponding to the clusters composed of a group of ceramic candle filters. It was analyzed how the different entrance geometry influences the flow field and the particle behavior in the filtration system. The particle loading is minimum when the gas mixed with particles flows into the filter vessel with a shroud tube through a tangential inlet. However, the particle loading is maximum when the gas with particles enters the filter vessel through a normal inlet which a entrance tube extended from. By controling adequately both conditions of inflow, the filtration system can be operated optimally to prolong the filter life-time and to save the energy for cleaning filters.

Novel Electromagnetic Induction Eddy Current DPH based Continuous Pipeline Fluid Heating using Soft Switching PWM High Frequency Inverter

  • This paper presents an innovative prototype of a new conceptual electromagnetic induction eddy current based fluid heating appliance using voltage-fed quasi resonant zero voltage soft switching PWM high-frequency inverter using IGBTs, which can operate at a constant frequency variable power regulation scheme. The promising simple high efficient low noise inverter type electromagnetic induction eddy current based pipeline fluid heating appliance is proposed for saturated steam generator, superheated steam generator, hot water and hot air producer, metal catalyst heating for exhaust gas cleaning in engine. Under these technological backgrounds, a novel electromagnetic induction eddy current Dual Packs Heater(DPH) based pipeline fluid heating incorporates thin metal layer type package for continuous fluid heating appliances applying two types of voltage-fed quasi load resonant ZVS-PWM high frequency inverter. The unique features of a novel electromagnetic induction eddy current DPH based continuous pipeline fluid heating appliance is illustrated on the basis of simulation and discussed for the steady state operating characteristics and experimental results.

  • This paper presents an innovative prototype of a new conceptual electromagnetic induction-based fluid beating appliance using voltage-fed type scries capacitor-compensated load resonant high-frequency IGBT inverter with a phase-shifted PWM and a power factor correction schemes. Its operating characteristics in steady-state are illustrated including unique features and evaluated on the basis of its computer simulation and experimental results of 10kw breadboard appliance for hot water producer and superheated steamer. The promising cost effective inverter-fed boiler appliances for electromagnetic induction-heated type fluid-heating in the pipeline systems are proposed for induction-heated boiler, super heat steamer, high temperature water producer, hot gas producer and metal catalyst heating for exhaust gas cleaning in engine, which are more suitable and acceptable for industrial, chemical, and consumer energy utilization for household and business from a practical point of view.

  • 가압유동층 연소 유닛은 1~1.5 MPa, 연소 온도 850~87$0^{\circ}C$ 조건으로 운전된다. 가압 석탄 연소 시스템은 전열관을 통한 열전달로 증기를 생산하며 가스터빈으로 공급될 고온 가스를 생산한다. 가스 중의 고체 잔류물에 의한 가스터빈의 성능 저하 때문에 가스 정제가 매우 중요하며 석탄과 흡수제 및 연소 공기를 가압하여야 하고 배가스와 회 제거 시스템에서는 감압을 해야 하기 때문에 운전이 다소 복잡하다. 증기터빈 대 가스터빈에서 생산되는 전력의 비율은 약 80:20이고 모든 부하 범위에서 연소기와 가스터빈이 서로 적절히 조화를 이루어야 하기 때문에 PFBC와 복합 사이클 발전 루트는 독특한 제어 방식을 갖는다. 유동층에 적용할 수 있는 가스의 최대 온도는 회 융점에 의해 제한을 받기 때문에 가스터빈은 일반 가스터빈에 비해 좀 특별하다고 할 수 있다. 회의 용융이 일어나지 않도록 하기 위한 최대 허용 가스 온도는 약 90$0^{\circ}C$이다. 가스터빈의 높은 압력비 때문에 압축시 인터쿨링을 사용하며 이는 상대적으로 낮은 터빈 입구의 온도를 상쇄하기 위한 것이다.

  • An axisymmetric Navier-Stokes procedure has been developed to analyze the pulse jet flow in a ceramic filter unit for the dust dislodging process. Using Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model as a closure relationship, the SIAF(Scalar Implicit Approximate Factorization) algorithm together with the ${\delta}^k-Correction$ iterative time marching scheme is adopted to solve the unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equations. After some validation tests, the code has been applied to solve the pulse jet flow and examine the effects of geometry and reservoir pressure condition on the pressure level inside the filter unit. To avoid dealing with the uncertainty of such factors as the cohesion of the collected dust and the adhesion of the dust to the medium and also to simplify the analysis, the filter wall is assumed to be impermeable. The results for various test cases are presented.

노후 고츨아파트의 유지관리 및 개선실태 조사 (A Study on the maintenance situation of the deteriorted high-rise apartments)

  • The deteriorted high-rise apartments make a social problem in now days. As a result, and new alternative plan for deteriorted high-rise apartments such as the remodeling concept must be considered. This study aims to develop the remodeling items which is the guide lines when remodeling of the apartment will be conducted. Thorough the case studies of maintenance and repair status of the deteriorted apartments in seoul, reasonable guidelines for selection of remodeling items were developed. Physical maintenance items includes those that need major repair activity like wall painting, water proof roof, change/repairs/implement of heating system, boiler, city gas pipelines, cold and hot water pipes, elevators, cleaning of water tanks. The period of repair is shorter than the durable year of law or codes. As a result of the study, basic maintenance items and actual repair period were proposed. This result will be the basic guidelines for remodeling items.

황금 GAP 지침 설정을 위한 건조방법, 저장조건 및 포장재료에 따른 품질변화 (Changes in Quality by Drying Methods, Different Storage Conditions and Package Mediums for Established GAP Guide Book in Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi)

  • Background: The purpose of improving the quality of oriental medicinal herbs is to contribute to the improvement of the income of farm. The present study investigated the effect of reasonable drying methods, different storage conditions and packageing materials on quality and stability of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi and for developing GAP (good agricultural practice) guide book. Methods and Results: Three methods of drying Scutellaria baicalensis roots produced over two years were used to estimate loss rate owing to drying, storage, and packaging. The methods of drying were categorized into natural drying (36 - 60 h by sunshine), drying with heat dryer (2 - 10 h), or drying with gas bulk dryer (2 - 10 h). After cleaning, and initial drying for a few days under controlled temperature conditions, the second phase of drying was carried out at 35, 45 and $55^{\circ}C$. Changes in hunter color values and quality under the two studied storage treatments (at $20^{\circ}C$ indoors and at $4^{\circ}C$ in a refigerator) were evaluated. Storage period for 60, 120, and 180 days in three packaging materials, PE (polyethylene package), PP (polypropylene gunnysack), and WP (watertight packing paper) were studied. Conclusions: Initial cleaning, reasonable gas drying and hot air drying, and drying in an oven at 35 and $45^{\circ}C$ after cutting the roots resulted in the lowest loss rates in S. Baicalensis root. Hunter color valuse indicated that stroage of dry roots at room temperature was better than PP packaging, and that cold stroage was better than PE packaging for long-term stability.

고온 연료가스 정제를 위한 ZnO-CuO 혼성탈황제의 반응 특성연구 (A Study on Reactivity of ZnO-CuO Sorbent for Hot Gas Desulfurization)

  • 고온 연료가스 정제를 위하여 ZnO-CuO 혼합탈황제를 제조하였으며, 탈황제들의 반응특성을 조사하였다. ZnO와 CuO의 혼합비율에 따른 황화반응 속도는 CuO의 함량이 증가할수록 빨라졌다. ZnO와 CuO 비율을 달리한 각 탈황제의 재생특성을 조사하기 위하여 TPO실험을 수행한 결과, $400^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 $CuSO_4$가 생성되고 $700^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 $CuSO_4$가 열분해 됨을 알았다. $600^{\circ}C$에서 재생된 탈황제는 $CuSO_4$에 의한$SO_2$ slippage 현상이 관찰되었으나, $700^{\circ}C$에서 재생할 경우에는 $SO_2$ slippage가 관찰되지 않았다. 이로써 ZnO와 CuO의 혼합으로 CuO는 ZnO의 휘발을 억제하고, ZnO는 CuO에 대한 $SO_2$ slippage를 최소화 시켰다.
