Recently, the Korean medical system changed with diversification & specialization and the field of medical service is also specialized in these days. And healing environment is proposed as a general concept in the hospital architecture. There is a trend that a establishment of women's hospital is increasing as specialized type. In difference from general hospital, they are providing specialized and integrated services in response to the women's disease and demand. Particularly, Outpatient department space in women's hospital has been changed in terms of area, shape and program. However, there used to be not enough research efforts of responding these changes. This study includes the Outpatient department of s women's hospital in the form of small and medium sized building over a certain level in Korea. And the methods of the study adopted the theoric examination based concept and features of women's hospital, the abstraction of distinctions in the Outpatient department through the analysis of the drawing, and the analysis of distinctions in the Outpatient department of women's hospital with the structural space classified and the analysis of space relation. Therefore, the purpose of this is to study investigates and analyzes the spatial characteristics of the Outpatient department space in women's hospital through a analysis of case study. To conclude, the space composition can be classified into the entry space, the clinic space for patients, the support space of patients' check-up, the reception and waiting space, the rest and convenience space, and the link space in the Outpatient department of women's hospital. The level space can account for the waiting space type, the clinic office type, the type based on the relation between the waiting room and the clinic office with its features. As a result, the results will be applied for the planning & design for the future women's hospital.
At present, health care industries throughout the world are struggling with the challenges to set up financial structures as cost-effective ways and means of satisfying customer needs for health care services. Many hospitals consign foodservice management to foodservice companies for the purpose of efficiency. The companies taking charge of hospital foodservice are also striving to gain an advantage over keen competitions. This study applied Quality Function Deployment(QFD) to one hospital (which will be shown as $\ulcorner$A hospital$\lrcorner$ below) managed by a contract foodservice company for the purpose of strategy planning to provide sustainable competitive advantage. First of all, this study scanned internal and external environment of $\ulcorner$A hospital$\lrcorner$ by means of a Quality Measurement Tool and a fieldwork study. With the result of environment scanning, this study elicited 20 strategies through SWOT analysis, which were categorized by 4 perspectives such as financial, customer, internal process, learning and growth perspectives. Finally, the priorities of 20 strategies were extracted from QFD methodology. According to the results obtained by applying QFD to $\ulcorner$A hospital$\lrcorner$'s foodservice, the strategies which $\ulcorner$A hospital$\lrcorner$ foodservice was obliged to introduce and implement were : the specialization of Children's hospital foodservice, scientific foodservice management through the standardization of foodservice operations, the maintenance of sanitary quality through sanitary system, the remodeling of facilities, the introduction of new equipment, the prompt and accurate response to customer needs, the development of appropriate patient menus, the provision of competitively priced meals for patient selection, the development of a demand forecast model by considering the characteristics of a children's hospital, improvement of productivity and the reduction of labor costs through the employment of experienced employees based on their seniority.
The purpose of this study was to find out the differences and relationships among balanced strategy, coordinating and learning mechanism, and perceived performance of hospitals in Korea, and provide some directions to establish effective strategic management of hospital. Measure items on balanced strategy, coordinating and learning mechanism, and perceived performance were developed from previous studies. Questionnaire was sent and received through Internet site and e-mail during May, 2008. Data were collected from key informant in each institutions, and analyzed using frequency analysis, T-test, ANOVA, correlation and regression analysis. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. The level of strategic selection and external learning mechanism of private hospital was lower than that of medical corporation, and others corporation hospital. 2. There was little difference between hospitals in metropolitan and those in small cities. 3. Hospitals that have under 100 beds were statistically lower level in strategic selection and external learning mechanism than hospitals has over 100 beds. 4. Formal coordinating and external learning mechanism, and foundation form(medical corporation) were significantly influenced on profitability from specialized field. 5. Strategic selection and adaptation mechanism were significantly affected on total profitability. 6. Strategic selection and external learning mechanism were significantly influenced on competitive power around its local market. Hospitals that are to be competitive by specialization should have to establish mechanism for management such as balanced strategy, coordinating and learning mechanism.
It requires great efforts to satisfy all functional characteristics of the rehabilitating treatments space for the specialized clinic for the elderly as the rehabilitating scope for treatment of the clinic has become more specialized and sectionalized. The specialization of the clinic for the elderly is saliently different in terms of rehabilitation treatment. The changed concept of rehabilitation for the elderly means that it places great importance in helping the elderly in their day-to-day life through a short-term or outpatient treatment, not a long term stay at hospital for retreat. The rehabilitation space in the clinic is essential in that it provided environment for efficient space placement in varied location. Thus, this study has been researched on 6 clinics for the elderly. It is because the space will have a variety of functions, which will be for the sake of the effective rehabilitation treatment of those aged patients who use that medical facilities, and not only for the physical therapy. It could have been designed to accommodate and realize not only the physical well-being, but also psychological, social and spiritual integrity for a variety of treatments, with which as the basis, this study theorizes the characteristics of the essential elements and the specialization factors by extracting spatial element through theoretical investigation. In conclusion the study here proposes the planned guideline for the rehabilitation treatment space to be designed inside the specialized clinic for the elderly, with renewed awareness of the importance on the spatial element in a recently established clinic.
본 연구에서는 병원 내 의학도서관을 대상으로 서비스 대상, 장서, 시설 및 환경, 직원, 서비스 등에 대한 전반적인 운영현황을 조사하고, 해당 도서관 사서들을 대상으로 도서관의 수요조사 및 인식조사를 실시하여, 향후 병원 내 의학도서관의 활성화 방안을 제안하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 병원 내 의학도서관이 본연의 역할을 수행하고 도서관 서비스의 질을 높임으로써 도서관의 위상을 높이려면, 조직상 독립부서로 분리되어야 한다. 둘째, 병원 내 의학도서관에 대한 장서, 규모, 인력에 대한 법적 기준 제정이 필요하다. 셋째, 체계적인 병원 내 의학도서관 운영을 위해 도서관 고유업무와 행정업무가 구별될 수 있도록 전문직 사서의 지원과 인력 충원이 이루어져야 할 것이다. 넷째, 병원 내 의학도서관 활성화를 위해 국가적 차원의 예산 지원, 사서의 전문화 교육, 운영 가이드라인 개발, 타 도서관과의 네트워크 활성화 등의 정책이 필요한 것으로 보인다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of customer orientation factors in relation to medical services on the values of the service and customer satisfaction and loyalty. Those factors include patient safety and, as found by previous studies, specialization, explanation of what to be medically examined and customer orientation itself. Based on these pervious studies, this study surveyed customers of 7 general hospitals located in Busan to empirically identify relations between customer orientation factors of medical services and the values of the services and customer satisfaction. Results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, this study is very meaningful in that it established a basic theory of patient safety as one of the above customer orientation factors, and tried to empirically demonstrated the theory by applying it to medical services. Second, another of the factors, specialization was found positively affecting the values of medical services, but not affecting customer satisfaction. Customers are likely to choose specialized medical institutions even at higher cost when they undergo an accident or disease. Nevertheless, in factors, whether medical service providers are specialized is not influencing customer satisfaction. This is because medical institutions are failing to properly make recognized their specialization to customers who want to receive specialized medical services. Third, another of customer orientation factors, that is, explanation of what to be medically examined was found not having positive effects on the values of medical services and customer satisfaction. This is probably because enough time was not given for the explanation or because the explanation itself was not provided enough. Fourth, medical service providers' customer orientation was found positively influencing the values of medical services and customer satisfaction. In other words, it seems that customer-centered attitudes and behaviors of medical service providers had positive effects on customers' perception of medical services. Fifth, another of the factors, that is, patient safety was found positively affecting the values of medical services and customer satisfaction. This is probably because medical services' accurate diagnoses and reliable services had positive effects on customers' perception of medical services. Sixth, customers' perceived values of medical services were found having positive effects on customer satisfaction and loyalty. This suggests that the values of medical services are an antecedent variable that directly influences customer satisfaction and loyalty. Seventh, customer satisfaction was found positively affecting customer loyalty. This suggests that customer satisfaction is an antecedent variable of customer loyalty. In conclusion, this study showed that in relation to medical services, customer orientation factors' significant influences on the values of the services and customer satisfaction requires continuous efforts for raising customers' perceived qualities of medical services.
Background : The prevalence of the chronic metabolic disease is increasing due to the aging society. Therefore, Korean Society of Health-system Pharmacists (KSHP) has a specialty pharmacist system to improve the professionalism of pharmacists. The purpose of this study is to suggest the difference between specialty pharmacist and non-specialty pharmacist with regards to their knowledge, delivery of information on medication, service provision, and job satisfaction. Methods : An online survey research was conducted for hospital pharmacists. The reliability of the questionnaire items was presented using Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ test. The t-test or ANOVA analysis was used for evaluating differences in continuous variables. Results : A total of 171 pharmacists responded to the questionnaire, and 87.7% of the respondents were aged less than 30 years (76.6%) and four-year graduates (86.0%). Typically, 108 (63.2%) were candidates for the pharmacist's specialty certificate, and the remaining 63 (36.8%) were not enrolled. Considering the field of specialty with overlapping, the total number of certificated patients was 140 (26.3% of the total of 532 in 2016). The results of the reliability analysis of the specific questionnaire showed that the Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ value was over 0.78. There was no significant difference in customer directionality between the two groups. However, there was a significant difference (p<0.05) with respect to overall knowledge about the treatment process, drug efficacy, and side effects, information about medicines and adverse drug reactions, and in providing appropriate information to medical staff including patients and physicians. Conclusions : The pharmacist with specialization showed a positive result of self-evaluation of items such as knowledge about drugs, communication of information on medications, and service provision, compared to other pharmacists, and the result was in correlation with the numbers of specialization. There was no difference in job satisfaction related to working environment. Henceforth, it is hypothesized that there is a necessity for continuous improvement in the working environment to suit the purpose of the pharmacy specialist system.
Purpose: The purposes of this study were to analyze the core nursing interventions that are used in the medical and surgical units, and to present the basic data that can be applied in clinical fields. Method: The data was collected from 353 nurses of the medical and surgical units from Jan. 2005 to Dec. 2005, using the database of nursing process record system used at a tertiary hospital. Results: 190 interventions were performed in the medical units, with 21 core nursing interventions. 198 interventions were performed in the surgical units, with 16 core nursing interventions. There were 11 common core nursing interventions. Conclusion: The results revealed that the ratio of physiological interventions and the interventions related to safety were high. The interventions were classified according to one's field of specialization, together with the common interventions were also being performed. According to the changes in the demands of consumers, there was also increases in the performance of 'pain management' and 'fall prevention.' We expect that this study will allow for the performance of standardized interventions, and that it will be helpful in the role of the experienced nurse, and in the approach to the nursing specialty.
This study is intended to understand the architectural characteristics and trends of general hospitals in Europe. The Observations, interviewes with the staff, and analyses of related materials were executed through the study-visits of sample hospitals. Some results of the study could be summarized as follows : (1) The architectural characteristics of sample hospitals could be described as the realization of horizontal design concept, application of urban design method, specialization of service departments, intergration of facility design, and planning for the emergency & disaster. (2) The architectural trends of sample hospitals could be suggested as the decentralization of functions, promotion of building standard, enhancement of interior space, consideration of environment, and autonomous management & operation of facilities. (3) The humanistic and environmental approaches from european hospitals would be preferably applicable rather than the popular concept of automation, ultra-modernization and mega-structure in Korea. First of all, the bed-center and proper facilities for disaster should be considered.
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data that helps the supplying medical resources through understanding the present conditions of medical resources and the territory of diagnosis in Uijongbu city. To achieve this goal, the statistical data related to the medical resources of Uijongbu city were analyzed; the number of population, medical facility, beds for inpatients, medical personnels and so on. Through the analysis of statistical data, it was revealed that the present conditions of medical resources are so insufficient in Uijongbu city. The results of the study were as follows; Firstly, it should be added to the beds for inpatients. Secondly, it should be characterized by specialization of hospitals. Thirdly, it should be added to the herb medicine hospital.
