Purpose: Space planning to cope with the changing function of the hospital is essential in hospital architecture. In order to do so, it is vital that the paradigm shifts from hospital design focused on purpose toward hospital design focused on system. Not only space planning but also air-conditioning plan, which is most closely related to the operation and maintenance of hospital facilities; and the environment of hospital users, should be able to respond to changes with ease. Thus this study is to provide fundamental data of the air-conditioning plan for the hospital design focused on system by analyzing the concept and characteristics of the air-conditioning plan in the recent hospital architecture planning. Results: As a result of this study, in the air conditioning plan for the hospital architecture planning, the most important are the location relation among the departments the air handling unit room and the air handling unit manage and the air conditioning zoning setting according to the air conditioning system. Therefore, for the hospital architecture planning focused on system, it is necessary to establish the air conditioning setting that can accommodate changeable environment of departments and accordingly the appropriate area range of the air conditioning zoning and the plan for the location of the air handling unit should be considered. Implications: Thereby aims to provide fundamental data on air handling unit zoning planning in the hospital architecture planning.

In this paper strategic planning is applied for effective management to improve hospital income. Though community hospital has been set up for improving the health status of community, it must be trying to increase income for continuing with referral hospital in the community. The most useful tool of management to do this purpose is thought of strategic planning. Therefore this paper developed strategic planning a typical community hospital, which for it presenting the strategic planning process and developing the simulation model for evaluation of strategic alternatives. In the result it is represented that admission rate is the most sensitive to hospital operating income among the important variables in the model. And simulation by changing the parameter could estimate the yearly hospital income in the response of alternatives. This strategic planning simulation model has had constraints as number of date but also significance such as evaluating the alternatives by quantitative model and at first applying the hospital in our country.

This study is aiming to obtain the pabulum of architectural planning about out-patient clinic department in armed force hospital with search. The discussion was about characteristic problems and differentiated planning characteristics of common general hospital, So the conclusion of research is as follows. In army medical facilities, Because of architectural standard of out-patient clinic department about scale of facilities and characteristic in each examination-part is unprepared, it may have to be readied. Out-patient clinic department was become plan to scale about whole 7~8% in hospital to SB hospital in 95 but was planed about 5% of whole scale from PS hospital in 97. When plan hospital, increase of equipment and increase of module size about bed for the convenience of patient or employees are judged for cause in hospital since 97 years than previous hospital in 95.

This study is intended to summarize the contents and process of an architectural basic planning for the design competition of K University Hospital. Especially a design of low-rise and compact type hospital in sloped suburb is suggested. The major contents consists of proposed premise of planning, goal of planning, site analysis, site plan, and architectural basic plan To realize the concept of low-rise and compact type hospital which reconciles to the natural environment of the site, 4 nursing units per typical floor and hospital street system are introduced. And to design a "hospital unlike hospital", streamline form of hospital building is proposed.

Purpose: Growth and change are the most important things in planning of hospital architecture. It is especially necessary for countless changes taken place since the hospital opens to be adapted to the planning of hospital architecture phase. The space depth in the hospital serves a very crucial role in accepting these changes. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data necessary to space depth planning to prepare for change through analyzing space depth's change in hospital architecture chronologically. Methods:: The method of this study is analyzing space depth's change in cases of 19 hospitals in total, from the 1980's, which is the quantitative growth period, until recently. Especially this study is analyzing Max & Min space depth focusing change of medical environment. Based on this, this study suggests an form of space depth and optimum range of space depth response to growth and change of hospital architecture. Results: The conclusions of this study are as follows. Considering these conclusion, double linear system is most appropriate for space depth for hospital architecture planning focused on system. Optimal range of space depth is at least 21.6m or more in case of clinic room and from 27 meter to 37meter in case of examination & treatment room. Implications: Space of Depth is a key element determining system for hospital architecture planning focused on system. The results of this paper can be data for planning system of hospital architecture which copes with the change.

Today, medical system faces to two major flows of change. The first one changes to small-to-middle size special hospital from large size general hospital. The another one changes to the patient-focused hospital. In these two flows of change, women's hospital is a typical small-to-middle size special hospital. In Korea, several studies on the architectural planning of delivery-part designed with recent trends in large size general hospital have done with focusing on LDR type or LDR/P type, but few studies on the architectural planning of the recent trends in women's hospitals. Therefore, this study aims to propose improve way after analysis the developing circumstances and problems on the Architectural planning on women's hospital by case studies on Women's hospital builded recently in Korea.

The purpose of this study was to provide the basic data for architectural planning through survey about the ward of women's hospital. This study considered the concept of women's hospital through theoretical consideration and analysed a blueprint of 30 cases about typical plan type, the size and layout of patient-room, space allocation and circulation. And then a survey of patients has to identify their needs. Because the rate of composition of an upper grade patient-room in women's hospital is higher than that of general hospital to improve habitability in ward needs not only the importance of the planing of patient-room itself, but also providing a small courtyard, day-room between the patient-rooms or outdoor terrace. When patient moves it was provided visual comfort and strengthen social exchange. Also, physical environment has to reflect mother's psychological needs and diversity by individuality in unit is essential to planning.

Purpose: Planning for radiotherapy relies on implicit estimation of the probability of tumor control and the probability of complications in adjacent normal tissues for a given dose distribution. Methods: The aim of this pilot study was to reconstruct dose-volume histograms (DVHs) from text files generated by the Eclipse treatment planning system developed by Varian Medical Systems and to verify the integrity and accuracy of the dose statistics. Results: We further compared dose statistics for intensity-modulated radiotherapy of the head and neck between the Eclipse software and software developed in-house. The dose statistics data obtained from the Python software were consistent, with deviations from the Eclipse treatment planning system found to be within acceptable limits. Conclusions: The in-house software was able to provide indices of hotness and coldness for treatment planning and store statistical data generated by the software in Oracle databases. We believe the findings of this pilot study may lead to more accurate evaluations in planning for radiotherapy.

As we make every effort to improve our health, the needs and interests of the rehabilitation medicine is increasing. And as society gets more advanced and as the quality of life become higher, rehabilitation department will be important for general hospital and we need the certain guidelines about it. In this study, selected 8 general hospitals in the metropolitan area are analyzed by the analysis of drawings and comparison. The important architectural planning of rehabilitation department are the connection with orthopedics and neurosurgery and the position for convenience approach. Rehabilitation department has 0.63~1.07% of general hospital area. And the rehabilitation department is divided into four branches - medical service space, office space, public space and support space. As the number of programs in the rehabilitation department is increasing, the planning will be considered for the flexible use. And this study proposed the programs, necessary spaces, space composition and basic planning of "rehabilitation department".
