  • The upper frequency of international EMC regulations is being expanded above 1 GHz. Radiated emissions above 1 GHz are different from those below 1 GHz that is existing upper regulation frequency, and which have lower field strength and sharper and tilted beam-width, relatively. In this paper, an effective evaluation method to be used above 1 GHz is studied using an offset parabola antenna system having a double-ridged horn antenna as a feed. First, simple model is proposed for calculating antenna factor and field uniformity of the parabola antenna system, and then real radiated emission and radiated susceptibility measurements are performed using a constant noise emitter and the suggested antenna system. The results show that the proposed antenna system has higher gain and power efficiency, and wider field uniformity relative to a conventional double-ridged horn antenna. Therefore, it is confirmed that the proposed system can be effectively used for EMC measurements above 1 GHz.

  • A microstrip antenna having a dual polarization and a smaller size than feed horn polarizer of F.R.R.S(Faraday Rotation Rotary Switch) is designed, in which GaAs MESFET switches are inserted for selective reception of RHCP or LHCP. For an accurate analysis of the resonance frequency, input impedance and radiation pattern of the circularly polarized microstrip antenna, finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is used. When the GaAs MESFET switch in the feeder is ON-stats, the truncated patch antenna has a gain of about 16.6dB including amplifier gain, while the switch is OFF-state, this has a isolation level of -24dB.

  • In this study, we developed a micropattern technology in the shape of RFID TAG antenna using ultrasonic micropattern manufacturing system developed to enable micropattern technology. The ultrasonic tool horn in longitudinal vibration mode was installed in the micropattern manufacturing system to develop the ultrasonic press technology for the micropattern antenna shape of the RFID TAG antenna shape on the insulating sheet surface. The ultrasonic shaping technology was manufactured by applying the resonance design technique to a 60kHz tool horn, and by using the micropattern manufacturing system, the coil wire having a thickness of 25㎛ can be ultrasonically press-molded on an insulating sheet of 200㎛ or less. In ultrasonic press technology, the antenna shape having a minimum line width of 150㎛ could be molded without disconnection, peeling, or twisting of the coil wire.

  • A horn antenna with corrugation structure and a PTFE(Polytetrafluoroethylene) teflon(relative permittivity=2.1) dielectric lens for good impedance matching characteristic and high gain performance is proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna shows measured return loss below -25 dB over the operating X band(8~12 GHz), the peak gain of 22.3 dBi at the center frequency(10 GHz) and has overall size of $110mm{\times}110mm{\times}135mm$. Considering the performance of the proposed antenna, it is suitable for being inserted in a radar level transmitters, particularly for gas tanks on vessels or off-shore plants containing gas with very low reflectivity and relative permittivity such as LNG or LPG.

  • Assuming omnidirectional antenna reception, the ITU-R recently developed a new propagation model on building entry loss (BEL) for 5G millimeter-wave frequency sharing and compatibility studies, which is a simplified outdoor-to-indoor path loss model. Considering the utilization of high-gain narrow-beamwidth beamforming, the omnidirectional-based ITU-R BEL model may not be appropriate to predict propagation characteristics for directional beamforming scenarios. This paper studies the effects of beamwidth on the ITU-R BEL model. This study is based on field measurements collected with four different beamwidth antennas: omnidirectional, 10° horn, 30° horn, and 60° horn. The measurement campaigns were conducted at two types of building sites: traditional and thermally efficient buildings. These sites, as well as the measurement scenarios, were carefully chosen to comply with the ITU-R BEL measurement guidelines and the ITU-R building types. We observed the importance of accurate beam alignment from the BEL variation range. We were able to quantify the beamwidth dependency by fitting to a model that is inversely proportional to the beamwidth.

  • In this paper, we propose a Axially displaced ellipse gregorian antenna with conical feed horn operating in Ku-band. For fast searching satellite position, it is designed the sub-reflector rotates about $1.5^{\circ}$ tilted by the central axis. the curvature and feed center of the main-reflector and sub-reflector are optimized to achieve maximum antenna efficiency. The designed reflector antenna shows the gain of 33dB and the cross polarization level of less than -21dB and the side-lobe level of less than -14 dB at 12.2 GHz. and C/N ratio of 19dB is proved by reception experiment of Koreasat with fabricated antenna.

  • A series of experimental work has been conducted to evaluate the capability of microstrip patch antenna system in detecting delamination in fiber reinforced Plastic (FRP) sheet reinforced concrete. For that purpose, a prototype microstrip patch antenna was developed with 15 GHz center frequency and 1 GHz bandwidth. For the comparison, a horn antenna with 15 GHz center frequency and 10 GHz bandwidth was used for the measurements of the same specimens. The laboratory sire specimens have the dimensions of 600 mm (length) $\times$ 600 mm (width) $\times$ 50mm (thickness) with a series of delaminations of 300 mm (length) $\times$ 300mm (width) $\times$ 5, 10, 15 mm (thickness). FRP of 1.5 mm thickness and epoxy of 3 mm thickness were placed on the top of artificially created delamination to represent actual FRP reinforced concrete condition. In all cases, the delamination has deen successfully identified. Also, it was shown that imaging results in microstrip patch antenna were improved by signal processing.

  • In this paper, we theoretically studied on the large antenna array whose element had wider than one wavelength. And we also verified the adaptedness through the experiments. Using grating lobes, we could make antenna have sharp HPBW. Not only HPBW but also SLL could be controlled by giving optimal space for antenna array. In order to verify this method, we designed 4 horn antenna array and measured the radiation patterns at 9 GHz. Each horn antenna has the dimension of 64.3$\times$82.5$\textrm{mm}^2$ and HPBW of 27$^{\circ}$. The space between antennas is longer than one wavelength so that it may have the grating lobes in visible region. As a result of experiments, we could get HPBW of 4.3$^{\circ}$, 3.3$^{\circ}$ and 1.7$^{\circ}$when giving 2.5λ, 2.7λ and 3.0λ of the spacing respectively. We concluded this could be useful making the antenna with narrow HPBW.

  • This paper presents the study results on a dual band feed horn for the focused reflector. A coaxial waveguide structure is attractive to avoid blockage from the feeder. The inner conductor as a hollow waveguide is designed to excite TE11 of a circular waveguide for high frequency. For low frequency, the design of the outer coaxial waveguide that propagates coaxial TE11 and prevents fundamental TEM is presented. The horn size for generation of these modes results in the degradation of performance. The return loss is improved by a capacitive iris and an inductive iris The enhanced pattern symmetry by dual mode is presented. The horn design in this paper are verified through the test.

  • This paper describes the design, fabrication, and measured results of a W-band Cassegrain antenna suitable for the target detecting fuze sensor. The Cassegrain antenna is designed using MATLAB and MWS of CST. We use the multi-mode horn antenna as a feeder. The measurement results are as follows: The gain is about 41dB; SLL is 17.7dB; 3dB beamwidth is about $1.51^{\circ}$ in E-plane and $1.45^{\circ}$ in H-plane. The magnitude of leakage signals is about 43.5mVpp when the fabricated antenna and the transceiver of the fuze sensor ire combined. As a result, the designed W-band Cassegrain antenna could be quite applicable to the target detecting fuze sensor.
