  • In this paper, we introduce the deformed-Sasaki metric on the tangent bundle TM over an m-dimensional Riemannian manifold (M, g), as a new natural metric on TM. We establish a necessary and sufficient conditions under which a vector field is harmonic with respect to the deformed-Sasaki Metric. We also construct some examples of harmonic vector fields.

  • In this paper, we introduce the Berger type deformed Sasaki metric on the cotangent bundle T*M over an anti-paraKähler manifold (M, 𝜑, g) as a new natural metric with respect to g non-rigid on T*M. Firstly, we investigate the Levi-Civita connection of this metric. Secondly, we study the curvature tensor and also we characterize the scalar curvature.

  • Selection of a suitable artificial lift is important in terms of efficient operation and economics for oil production. In general, process of well design includes the selection of artificial lift, but the oil recovery could be enhanced by use of hybrid system combined with two types of artificial lift method according to reservoir condition for oil production. Electric submersible pump (ESP), as a presentative artificial lift method, is a manner for supplying the pressure in the lower part of oil well by using of a multi-stage centrifugal pump with an electric energy. However, there is a disadvantage that has a limit to the application period because of mechanical defection on ESP. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the shutdown time of production well by applying the ESP/Gas lift hybrid system, which is to switch to a gas lift when an ESP is defective. This study describes the effect of ESP/gas lift hybrid system compared with ESP method for a onshore horizontal well locating in the of Permian basin, USA. As a result of study, ESP/gas lift hybrid system could make more effective productivity than ESP method. Also, we quantitatively predicted how much economic benefit would be obtained when the hybrid system was applied in the production well.

  • Flat Panel Display(FPD) is widely used a video display terminals to consumer products of LCD and PDP. The contamination and damage were affected by using the previous contact conveyor's method. In this paper, it analyzes the FPD deflection to develop the non-contact FPD transfer process using lift force. Each conveyor's equipment is called a horizontal conveyor, vertical conveyor and robot pick-up equipment. As result of an analysis of FPD panel's deflection, a robot pick-up equipment has performed according to under the present conditions like panel's weight and loaded glass to move FPD panel from one place to other places properly. Results of the analysis showed 0.474 mm, 0.424 mm and 1.237 mm. Those values are lower than a predicted optimum values : 2 mm for both horizontal and vertical conveyers; 5 mm for robot pick-up equipment. Therefore, those results verify each equipment have safety and reliability.

  • The angle of attack of a cambered otter board in a bottom trawl was estimated using a three-dimensional semi-analytic treatment of a towing cable (warp) system that was applied to the field experiments of a bottom trawl obtained by the Scanmar system. The equilibrium condition of the horizontal component and vertical component of forces was used to the three forces acting on the otter board in the horizontal plane. Those forces were the force on the warp at the bracket, hydrodynamic lift and drag forces on the otter board and the force on the hand rope attached just behind the otter board. Also the equilibrium of moment about the front edge of the otter board was used to find out the angle of attack of the cambered otter board. When the warp length was 120m and 180m long and the towing speed was between 1.23 and 1.90 m/s, the estimated angle of attack of the cambered otter board was ranged between $26.1^{\circ}$ and $29.6^{\circ}$, respectively, though the maximum lift force was at the angle of attack $22.6^{\circ}$. The angle of attack of the otter board was tended to increase weakly with the longer length of warp (180 m) at the same towing speed in the experiment.

  • This study is to develop a 1kW-class horizontal axis wind turbine(HAWT) rotor blade which will be applicable to relatively low wind speed regions in southwest islands in Korea. Shape design of 1kW-class small wind turbine rotor blade is carried out using a blade profile with relatively high lift to drag ratio by blade element momentum theory(BEMT). Aerodynamic analysis on the newly designed rotor blade is performed with the variation of tip speed ratio. Power coefficient and pressure coefficient of the designed rotor blade are investigated according to tip speed ratio.

  • The circular cylindrical piles are extensively used in near shore structures. For the purpose of analysing stability of vertical pile, we must consider the horizontal force, the lift force, and the traverse force etc. In this paper author studied horizontal force acts on the vertical circular pile and investigated the relation between the floating body coefficients C$$ and U$$T/D.

  • To study the wake influence of an upstream bridge on the wind-resistance performance of a downstream bridge, two adjacent long-span cable-stayed bridges are taken as examples. Based on wind tunnel tests, the static aerodynamic coefficients and the dynamic response of the downstream bridge are measured in the wake of the upstream one. Considering different horizontal and vertical distances, the flutter derivatives of the downstream bridge at different angles of attack are extracted by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations and discussed, and the change in critical flutter state is further studied. The results show that a train passing through the downstream bridge could significantly increase the lift coefficient of the bridge which has the same direction with the gravity of the train, leading to possible vertical deformation and vibration. In the wake of the upstream bridge, the change in lift coefficient of the downstream bridge is reduced, but the dynamic response seems to be strong. The effect of aerodynamic interference on flutter stability is related to the horizontal and vertical distances between the two adjacent bridges as well as the attack angle of incoming flow. At large angles of attack, the aerodynamic condition around the downstream girder which may drive the bridge to torsional flutter instability is weakened by the wake of the upstream bridge, and the critical flutter wind speed increases at this situation.

  • DUP (direct underside pressurization) is a device that can considerably increase lift, reduce take-off speed and minimize hump drag when a WIG effect vehicle takes off on the water surface. A 3-dimensional numerical investigation of a WIG effect vehicle with DUP is performed to analyze aerodynamic characteristics and the static height stability. The model vehicle, named Aircat, consists of a propeller in the middle of a fuselage, an air chamber under the fuselage, Lippisch-type wings and a large horizontal T-tail. The lift is mainly increased by the stagnation of the accelerated air coming into the air chamber through the channel in the middle of the fuselage. However, the accelerated air increases drag as well as reduces static height stability.
