In marine controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) modeling, it may be difficult to evaluate primary fields accurately using conventional linear filters because they decay very rapidly with distance. However, since there exists a closed-form solution to the Hankel transform in TM mode for a homogeneous half space, we can assess the accuracy of linear filters for evaluating the Hankel transform. As a result, only nine out of 36 source-receiver pairs show that EM fields decrease linearly in semi-log scale with an increase of source-receiver distance, while EM fields are either 0 or not reduced significantly due to an effect of the air layer. There also exist closed-form solutions for the nine pairs, and the others can be evaluated accurately with a relatively short filter. This paper proposes a method which uses closed-form solutions for TM-mode Hankel transforms and a filter with 61 coefficients for TE-mode ones.
In this study, a slope stability chart for assessing stability of homogeneous simple soil slopes is proposed. Most existing slope stability charts are based on limit equilibrium method, which is not rigorous in mechanical standpoint. Meanwhile, limit analysis based on the principle of virtual work and the bound theorems of plasticity is suitable for evaluating the stability of geotechnical structures such as slope due to its simplicity in computation and mechanical rigor. Numerical limit analysis taking advantage of finite elements and linear programming can consider various slope conditions and, in addition, find the optimum stability solution with effeciency. In this study, a numerical limit analysis program in terms of effective stress is developed and a mechanically rigorous slope stability chart is proposed by performing stability analyses for various slope conditions. Pore pressure ratio, commonly used in stability charts, is applied to consider the effects of pore pressure for effective stress analysis. As a result of comparison between proposed stability chart and Spencer's stability chart, it was found that Spencer's chart solutions are biased to lower bound which means conservative in design.
Recently, there have been active researches about the VPCS (Virtual Parallel Computing System) based on multiple agents. The PVCS uses personal computers or workstations that are dispersed all over the internet, rather than a high-cost supercomputer, to solve complex problems that require a huge number of calculations. It can be made up with either homogeneous or heterogeneous computers, depending on resources available on the internet. In this paper, we propose a new method in order to distribute worker agents and work packages efficiently on the VPCS based on the IBM Aglets. The previous methods use mainly the master-slave pattern for distributing worker agents and work packages. However, in these methods the workload increases dramatically at the central master as the number of agents increases. As a solution to this problem, our method appoints worker agents to distribute worker agents and workload packages. The proposed method is evaluated in several ways on the VPCS, and its results are improved to be worthy of close attention as compared with the previous ones.

$BaTiO_3$ nano powder can be synthesized by hydrate salt method at $120^{\circ}C$ in air. Decreasing the thickness of thick film, the nano dielectric particle is needed in electronic ceramics. However, the synthesis of $BaTiO_3$ nano particle at low temperature in air and their mechanism were not reported enough. And ultrasonic treatment can be tried because of low temperature process in air. Therefore, in this study, the $BaTiO_3$ nano powder was synthesised with the synthesis time and ultrasonic treatment at $120^{\circ}C$ in air. In the synthesis process, the effects of process were evaluated. From the experimental observation, the synthesis mechanism was proposed. The homogeneous $BaTiO_3$ particle was synthesised by KOH salt solution at $120^{\circ}C$ for 1hour. It was conformed that the ultrasonic treatment effected on the increase of synthesis rate. After cutting the salt powder using FIB, $BaTiO_3$ nano particles observed homogeneously in the cross-section of the salt particle.
$LiCoO_2$ powder was synthesized in an aqueous solution by a sol-gel method and used as a cathode active material for a lithium ion rechargeable battery. The layered $LiCoO_2$ powders were prepared by igniting in air for 12 hrs at 600 ℃ $(600-LiCoO_2)$ and 850 ℃ $(850-LiCoO_2)$. The structure of the $LiCoO_2$ powder was assigned to the space group R bar 3 m (lattice parameters a=2.814 Å and c=14.04Å). The SEM pictures of $600-LiCoO_2$ revealed homogeneous and fine particles of about 1 μm in diameter. Cyclic voltammograms (CVs) of $600-LiCoO_2$ electrode displayed a set of redox peaks at 3.80/4.05 V due to the intercalation/deintercalation of the lithium ions into/out of the $LiCoO_2$ structure. CVs for the $850-LiCoO_2$ electrode had a major set of redox peaks at 3.88/4.13 V, and two small set of redox peaks at 4.18/4.42 V and 4.05/4.25 V due to phase transitions. The initial charge-discharge capacity was 156-132 mAh/g for the $600-LiCoO_2$ electrode and 158-131 mAh/g for the $850-LiCoO_2$ electrode at the current density of 0.2 mA/cm2. The cycleability of the cell consisting of the $600-LiCoO_2$ electrode was better than that of the $850-LiCoO_2$. The diffusion coefficient of the $Li^+$ ion in the $600-LiCoO_2$ electrode was calculated as $4.6{\times}10^{-8}\; cm^2/sec$.
The magneto-rheological visco-elastomer (MRVE) is used as a smart core to control the stochastic micro-vibration of a sandwich plate with supported mass. The micro-vibration response of the sandwich plate with MRVE core and supported mass under stochastic support motion excitations is studied and compared to evaluate the vibration suppression capability. The effects of the supported mass and localized magnetic field on the stochastic micro-vibration response of the MRVE sandwich plate are taken into account. The dynamic characteristics of the MRVE core in micro-vibration are described by a non-homogeneous complex modulus dependent on vibration frequency and controllable by applied magnetic fields. The partial differential equations for the coupled transverse and longitudinal motions of the MRVE sandwich plate with supported mass are derived from the dynamic equilibrium, constitutive and geometric relations. The simplified ordinary differential equations are obtained for the transverse vibration of the MRVE sandwich plate under localized magnetic fields. A frequency-domain solution method for the stochastic micro-vibration response of sandwich plates with supported mass is developed based on the Galerkin method and random vibration theory. The expressions of frequency-response functions, response power spectral densities and root-mean-square velocity responses of the plate in terms of the one-third octave frequency band are obtained for micro-vibration evaluation. Finally, numerical results are given to illustrate the large response reduction capacity of the MRVE sandwich plate with supported mass under stochastic support motion excitations, and the influences of MRVE parameters, supported mass and localized magnetic field placement on the micro-vibration response.
The effect of UO$_2$ powder property and oxygen potential on characteristics of sintered UO$_2$-Gd$_2$O$_3$ fuel pellets has been investigated. Two types of powder, mixture of AUC-UO$_2$ and Gd$_2$O$_3$powders (type I) and mixture of ADU-UO$_2$ and Gd$_2$O$_3$powders (type II), have been prepared, pressed, and sintered at 168$0^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours. Four sintering atmospheres with different mixing ratios of $CO_2$to H$_2$ gas ranging from 0 to 0.3 have been used. UO$_2$-Gd$_2$O$_3$ fuel has lower sintered density than UO$_2$ fuel, and the density drop is larger for powder type I than for powder type II. As the oxygen potential increases, the sintered density of UO$_2$-2wt% Gd$_2$O$_3$pellets increases but that of UO$_2$-10wt% Gd$_2$O$_3$ pellets decreases. It is found that pores are newly formed in UO$_2$-10wt% Gd$_2$O$_3$ pellets in accordance with the decrease in density. The grain size of UO$_2$-Gd$_2$O$_3$ fuel increases and a short range G4 distribution becomes homogeneous as the oxygen potential increases. A long range ed distribution and grain structure are inhomogeneous for powder type II. The lattice parameter of (U,Gd)O$_2$solid solution decreases linearly with Gd$_2$O$_3$ content. The dependence of UO$_2$-Gd$_2$O$_3$fuel characteristics on powder type and sintering atmosphere have been discussed.
This study analyzed each process of demand analysis(A), design(D), development(D), implementation(I) and evaluation(E) of the program to support mathematics learning of students with under-achievement of math in high school. To analyze the demand, a survey was conducted on 235 high school math teachers and 334 high school students who were under-achieved in mathematics. To design and develope the program, this study linked middle school math to high school math so that the students with poor math learning could easily participate in mathematics learning. The programs developed in this study were implemented in three high schools, where separate classes were organized and run for students with poor math learning. The evaluation of the programs developed in this study was done in two ways. One was a quantitative evaluation conducted by five experts, and the other was a qualitative evaluation conducted through interviews with teachers and students participating in the program. This study found that students with poor mathematics learning were more motivated to learn, started to do mathematics, and encouraged to be confident when using learning materials that included easy problems and detailed solutions that they could solve themselves. From these results, the following three implications can be derived in developing a program to support students who are experiencing poor mathematics learning in high school. First, we should develop learning materials that link middle school mathematics to high school mathematics so that students can supplement middle school mathematics related to high school mathematics. Second, we need to develop learning materials that include detailed solutions to basic examples and include homogeneous problems that can be solved while looking at the basic example's solution process. Third, we should avoid the challenge of asking students who are under-achieving to respond too openly.

This study proposes the deconvolution method for the nanoindentation test results of geopolymer employing the Gaussian mixture model. Geopolymer has been studied extensively as an alternative construction material because it emits relatively lower CO2 compared to ordinary Portland cement. Geopolymer is made of aluminosilicate and alkaline solution, and the Si/Al molar ratio affects its mechanical properties. Previous studies revealed that the Si/Al molar ratio of 1.8~2.0 results in the highest compressive strength, and the Si/Al molar ratio over 1.8 degrades the compressive strength of geopolymer severely; however the reason for the compressive strength degradation is still unclear. To understand the effect of the Si/Al molar ratio on the geopolymer structure, this study exploits the nanoindentation. The phase deconvolution of the indent modulus data is successful using the Gaussian mixture model, and it is observed that the Si/Al molar ratio alters the homogeneity of the geopolymer. Geopolymer becomes more homogeneous up to an Si/Al molar ratio of 1.8 at which geopolymer exhibits the highest compressive strength. The examination of this study is assumed to be adopted as evidence of strength degradation by the Si/Al ratio higher than the optimum value.
The analysis of nonlinear vibrations, buckling, post-buckling, flutter boundary determination and post-flutter behavior of a homogeneous curved plate assuming cylindrical bending is conducted in this article. Other assumptions include simply-supported boundary conditions, supersonic aerodynamic flow at the top of the plate, constant pressure conditions below the plate, non-viscous flow model (using first- and third-order piston theory), nonlinear structural model with large deformations, and application of mechanical and thermal loads on the curved plate. The analysis is performed with constant environmental indicators (flow density, heat, Reynolds number and Mach number). The material properties (i.e., coefficient of thermal expansion and modulus of elasticity) are temperature-dependent. The equations are derived using the principle of virtual displacement. Furthermore, based on the definitions of virtual work, the potential and kinetic energy of the final relations in the integral form, and the governing nonlinear differential equations are obtained after fractional integration. This problem is solved using two approaches. The frequency analysis and flutter are studied in the first approach by transferring the handle of ordinary differential equations to the state space, calculating the system Jacobin matrix and analyzing the eigenvalue to determine the instability conditions. The second approach discusses the nonlinear frequency analysis and nonlinear flutter using the semi-analytical solution of governing differential equations based on the weighted residual method. The partial differential equations are converted to ordinary differential equations, after which they are solved based on the Runge-Kutta fourth- and fifth-order methods. The comparison between the results of frequency and flutter analysis of curved plate is linearly and nonlinearly performed for the first time. The results show that the plate curvature has a profound impact on the instability boundary of the plate under supersonic aerodynamic loading. The flutter boundary decreases with growing thermal load and increases with growing curvature.
