We present the motivation, design and implementation of a smart home system in Korea. Our system is open, extensible, integrated, intelligent, and usage-centric. We detail the challenges and key design requirements for the smart home system based on our past experiences, and show how convergence system design is a capable methodology for enabling an integrated and multi-faceted home management system that encompasses energy management, home appliance control, environment management, u-health, and living support functionalities under a single unified design. Using energy management as a specific case study, we demonstrate how convergence system design can encapsulate technology heterogeneity and hardware-software disparity without compromising simple yet powerful user interfaces.

The purpose of this study is to review current home-based work study and identify factors associated with the choice of home-based work. Home-based work as an alternative form of employment is being sought today by both workers and business. The information age with its empasis on the recoding and transfer of information along with the technology of telectommuting has increased potential for and attention to home-based work. Home-based work seems to have several advantages particulary for women who carry the double burden of household work and paid work. The reduction in traffic congestion and demand of fossil fuels that accompanies the elimination of commuting has also been seen as a important social benifit. Home-base work has potential that can improve women's labor force participation. Further study is needed to evaluate home-based work and critical advice to current and prospect workers.

In this study, the various financial management systems practiced by modem dual-income families were assessed by in-depth interviews with 6 people, 3 practicing integrated financial management and 3 practicing individual financial management. The results indicated significant differences between the two financial management methods regarding family structure, individual values, and family finances. Families that practiced individual financial management consisted of weekend couples without children who showed an individual-centered value tendency and seemed to take a positive attitude towards their future economic situation due to possession of their on stabilized financial assets. Based on these results, we can expect more families to adopt methods of individual financial management and show a wider variety in their financial planning tools which will require adequate and efficient countermeasures and strategies suitable for each financial management practice.

This thesis is the study about application development for management obesity and personal health matters systematically based on Android smart phone system. Growing obesity problem for students organized by the lack of a device or program to manage at home has been favored as a serious problem. Currently developed smart phones has come into wide use by portable features and many applications. And to support populations of these features smart phones will be available for obesity management in your home without any equipment using. Accordingly, this paper is the study about application development for management obesity for growing students at home based on the latest smart phone platform Android.

Recent shortening of hospitalization has partly led to the transition of health care services from hospitals to communities in cardiovascular (CVD) care. Home healthcare nursing is an alternative modality of care for chronically ill CVD patients. Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) has been redefined as a "secondary prevention center", consisting of: patient assessment; nutritional counseling; blood pressure and diabetes management; tobacco cessation; psychosocial management; and physical activity counseling. Improvement in health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is a major goal of the CR that integrates physical, psychological and social dimensions of care. The review of evidence on effects of CR on HRQOL may allow home healthcare nurses to provide better comprehensive care for CVD patients. There is evidence on beneficial effects of CR on HRQOL in patients with myocardial infarction (MI) as well as patients with chronic heart failure. Specifically, home-based CR, which is more cost-effective than hospital-based CR, has been reported to produce comparable improvements in HRQOL with hospital-based CR in MI patients. In conclusion, a newly-designed, home-based CR may be required to be applied to Korean home healthcare nursing system for improving HRQOL.

Purpose of this study was to examine economic contributions to regional economic of home-based family businesses. Results showed that home-based family businesses create additional employments within the region, contribute to taxation of the regional economy, and improve regional financing. In addition, home-based family businesses do contribute to regional economy through consuming goods and services within the region and providing goods and services to the region. Through analyzing economic contributions to regional economy of home-based family businesses, it can be suggested that strong support for the home-based family businesses is needed for growth of the regional economy.

Objective : The aim of this study was to examine the effects of the Home-based Multi-component Activity Program (Home-MAP) for the maintenance activities of daily living (ADL) for patients with mild Alzheimer's disease (AD) and on caregiver burden for caregivers. Methods : Nine mild AD patients and family caregivers. The Home-MAP was performed 1d/wk, for a total of 10 times over 10 weeks. Results : After the 10 sessions, participants' motor and process skills scores on the AMPS were found to have significantly improved (p=.028 and p=.028, respectively). The BPSD frequency score on the R-MBPC was found to be significantly reduced (p=.017). The BPSD symptoms related to caregiver reaction score on the R-MBPC and distress score on the NPI-Q were significantly reduced (p=.039 and p=.018, respectively). Conclusions : The Home-MAP appears to have contributed to the improvement of patients' capabilities in performing in ADL, to a reduction of BPSD, and to a reduction of burden related to BPSD.

This study was to develop and to execute the educational program for Home Life Promotion in relation to the living of variety. The education program was developed based on system approach of home economics. The program consisted of 6 sessions ; intensional home management, flexible sex role, communication, parents-children relationship, home resource management, living plan. After a primary education, 109 of adults was educated on secondary step by the program. This program can be used not only for adults in lifelong education but also in home economics course. The main contribution of this study is that family members can increase life welfare through practicing this educational program.

At most of the home or office, we have planted ornamental plants raised in pots, but it is difficult to follow because of busy life and lack of expertise in plants management. In this paper, we intend to design and implement a home network-based potted plants management system to solve the difficulty of plants management. To attain this end, firstly, we designed the structure of the plants management system, information flows and operation control flows. Secondly, we implemented the system based on designed results. Finally, we verified the implemented system through the functionality test for 10 items. In the results, it is expected that we can manage the potted plants efficiently than existing ornamental plant management systems and home network systems focusing appliances.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of home informatization on the family system. This study is based on the systems approach. A family system is composed of two major subsystems-personal and managerial. Managerial subsystem is concerned to instrumental function, such as time management and financial management. Personal subsystem is concerned to expressive function, such as family relations and interactions. So this study attempts to analyze the effects of Internet on the family system through time management, financial management, and family relations. The results from reviewing several related researches are that home informatization through Internet use has changed time management, financial management, and family relations. Finally this study suggests three plans of home informatization for contributing to improve the quality of family living.
