This study aims to explore the meaning and nature of the nursing experience of visiting nurses of home-based long-term care service centers by using van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenological approach. A total of 10 home-visiting nurses working in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province were recruited through purposive, convenience, and snowball sampling and participated in the study. Data were collected from January 7, 2017 to October 12, 2018 through in-depth individual interviews with the participants. The analysis resulted in 6 essential themes regarding the lived experience of visiting nurses: 'establising a good rapport with the patient and his or her family caregiver', 'building the foundation of visiting nursing by performing autonomously nursing procedures for the patient', 'facing the reality not to be able to work as much as I want due to the limitations of the support system in performing work as a visiting nurse', 'upset when sincerity could not be delivered', 'following the calling of medical personnel by taking responsibility for 'my patient', and 'pledging oneself to career-long work, feeling reward as a visiting nurse.' The findings of the study help understand the role and importance of visiting nurses and contribute to the preparation of practical measures to improve the quality of home-visiting nursing.

Recent research indicates that the new mothers want to learn about childrearing, and have burden in care of infants. Also it indicates that the new mothers say the lack of confidence and knowledge about infant care. This study was a prospective longitudinal reseach developing parent role education program and evaluating the effectiveness of this program for mother-infant interaction, childrearing environment and infant development. Longitudinal quasi-experimental design was used. The subjects were the healthy infants weighing over 2,500gm at birth, whose gestational age was more than 37weeks, and their mothers. The sample consisted of 19 mother-infant dyads for intervention group and 18 dyads for control group. Data were collected from March 15th to December 14th in 1999. For the intervention group received programmed education that was consisted of discharge education, telephone counselling, and home visiting for maternal education. The data were analyzed using chi-square test and t-test to test the equivalence of two groups, and the effectiveness of intervention program. This study was focused on the results of six months time point. The results were as follows: 1. There was significant difference in the mean score of mother-infant interaction(NCAST) between two groups. Intervention group showed higher scores in the subscales of sensitivity to cues, cognitive growth fostering, and caregiver total. 2. There was no significant difference in the mean score of child rearing environment (HOME) between two groups of six-month-infants. But when each subscale of HOME was examined, intervention group showed higher scores in the dimensions of opportunities for variety in daily stimulation, maternal involvement with child, and emotional, verbal response. 3. Six-month-infants of the intervention group showed significantly higher GQ in the Griffiths mental development scale. In conclusion, the maternal education program was effective in promoting the mother-infant interaction, organizing the childrearing environment, and fostering the infant development. These results were very meaningful that we found parent role education necessary for normal infants' mothers, and nurses can make a great contribution in promoting health of infants and mothers.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the burden of caring for the care-givers of the elderly in Korea by using an integrated literature review method. A total of 23 studies were analyzed using a search database. When care-givers had higher sense of filial and guilt or more than two diseases, they showed high level of feeling of burden. Also, they had high level of feeling of physical burden by their oldness, service period (especially at the period of 1-3 years). In the feeling of economic burden, they had high level of feeling of burden by their oldness, or elderly's disease periods. The feeling of burden by psychological condition was found in elderly in aged and the beginning of admission of nursing home. The feeling of burden by environment situation was found when the functional status of the elderly was bad. Therefore, we need to concern care-givers's feeling of burden with elderly people in the nursing home. In the future, I believe that the findings of this study will be helpful for development of the intervention program for alleviate burden for the care-giver.
This research, with the participants of the female elderly using a home-visit bath among long-term care services, made an in-depth analysis of what they experience while getting a home-visit bath. We conducted in-depth interviews with 8 elderly people. According to the result, the female elderly experienced the absence of a caregiver, difficulty in carrying out daily life due to physical diseases, getting what they need by themselves, getting comfortable in body and mind, accepting their given situation though feeling shame at getting a bath, and expressing their desires. In addition, they had a close relationship with a care helper. On the basis of the results, a systematic training system which could intensify the professionalism of care helpers was suggested. For the enhancement of the elderly's emotional stability in a long-term care, an integrated case management system was also suggested, which supports the family by organizing an integrated network by region between a long-term care service, home-visit care service, welfare center, and the National Health Insurance Corporation.
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the level of nursing needs of a long-term care service user at home and the care giving burden of a primary caregiver. For this study, data were collected from 152 primary caregivers in J City with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using multiple regression technique. Among the nursing needs of long-term care giving service users, the level of psychological and social requests was the highest. This study found that two characteristics variables(long-term care insurance benefit level and long-term care giving grade) had difference was statistically significant in physical nursing needs and psychological nursing needs. Out of care giving burden of primary caregivers, physical care giving burden was found to be the highest. Out of factors influencing care giving burden, daily care giving hours was the factor which had strongest influence. Basic living recipients and female primary caregivers showed higher care giving burden. The more care givers there were, the less care giving burden became.
Purpose : This investigation was to identify the relationship of social support, stress, health and quality of life in caregivers of home-stay cancer patient. Method : We used a questionnaire and obtained data from the records of 79 caregivers of home-stay cancer patient in a community. Window SPSS-PC was used for the data analysis and the statistical method used were the t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Result : The mean score of family support(3.24) was higher than nurse's support(3.03). The mean score of stress was 3.52 and that of health status was 2.98. The mean score of quality of life was 2.34. The health status of caregivers of cancer patient was influence by age(F=3.17, p=0.018) and education(F=3.59, p=0.032). There was a correlation between nurse's support and family support(r=.263, p<0.05). There was a correlation between stress and health status(r=0.597, p<0.01). The quality of life was correlated with stress(r=-.678, p<0.01) and health status(r=-0.741, p<0.01). Conclusion : The above result indicate that we must consider of social support, stress and health status to promote of quality of life of the caregiver of cancer patient.
The present study was to investigate the teacher's and the mother's beliefs about literacy acquisition and to analyse differences between them The subjects for this study were 134 teachers and 174 mothers of the kindergarten and daycare centers. The 25-item questionnaire constructed by Westwood, Knight and Redden(1997) was used in this study with a slight modification. Collected data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA to verify the differences of the teacher's beliefs according to an academic background and a career, and mother's according to an academic background and an occupation, and compared by t-test to verify the differences of the teacher's and mother's beliefs. The major findings were the most teachers and mothers showed balanced approach: more skill-based about reading than writing. The university graduated teachers took more meaning-based, child-centered approach than finisher of caregiver training center. According to career, more the experienced kept more skilled-based approach. In case of the mother, the university and graduated school graduates took more meaning-based, child-centered approach than finisher of college and High school. According to occupation, more the professional kept more meaning-based approach. Finally there were no meaningful difference in an income and mothers' age. And teachers took more meaning-based, child-centered approach than mothers. Especially about writing, teachers kept much more meaning-based approach than mothers.

Smart wear integrates computing technology into fabric or a garment for additional functionality. This research explored the attitudes and opinions of the use of smart wear from the viewpoint of caregivers. Thirty two individuals including care providers of children and adult family members with health problems participated in focus group interviews. Participants reported being interested in smart wear because of the potential to detect the location (GPS) of a dependent (e.g., child, elderly) and to monitor vital signs. Participants indicated perceived advantages of smart wear such as identifying geographical location and effectiveness. Perceived concerns mentioned were privacy/security issues and accuracy of data. Participants taking care of dependents without a specific disease were hesitant to adopt and pay for smart wear. However, caregivers of elderly individuals expressed positive adoption intentions and willingness to reasonably pay for smart wear. They indicated expectations that potential insurance would provide coverage for cost savings. Caregivers expressed the need of specific requirements for future adoption such as customizability, and comfort/safety. Specific to smart wear clothing, most respondents preferred it be an undershirt or a jacket with a sensor located in the shoulder area. The findings from this study can be used in product development, promotion and marketing of smart wear.

Purpose : The current study objective was to determine the attitudes of nursing students to death, perception of end-of life care, and perceptions of educational training needs in relation to the provision of end-of life care, and to apply the results to the development of an efficient and effective education program in this regard. Method : Data collection was carried out between March and April 2017, and was achieved through the administration of a questionnaire to 124 caregivers working in a nursing home in C. A self-report instrument was used to measure nursing attitudes to death, perceptions of end-of-life care, and perceptions of educational training needs in relation to the provision of end-of-life care. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS(R) Statistics for Windows(R)(version 21.0), and were calculated was whole numbers, percentages, $mean{\pm}standard$ deviation, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results : The average scores obtained were 2.85 out of a maximum of 4.00, 2.14 out of 4.00, and 2.42 out of 4.00, for attitudes to death, perceptions of end-of-life, and perceptions of educational training needs in relation to the provision of end-of-life care, respectively. A positive correlation was found between attitudes to death and perceptions of end-of-life care, and a negative correlation was found between perceptions of end-of-life care and educational training needs in relation to the provision of end-of-life care. Conclusion : The development and implementation of an educational program is necessary to ensure positive attitudes to death in nursing students and improve their perceptions about end-of-life care. Further research is also warranted to determine the impact of such a program in this regard.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of husband's emotional support and mother-teacher partnership on maternal parenting stress. The participants in this study consisted of 216 mothers with children(aged 4-5years). Husband's emotional support was measured by the Parenting Alliance Inventory(PAI, R. R. Abidin, 1988) revised by R. R. Abidin and J. F. Brunner(1995). Mother-teacher partnership was measured using the Caregiver-Parent Partnership Scale(A. M. Ware, B. Barfoot, A. S. Rusher & M. T. Owen, 1995) revised by M. T. Owen, A. M. Ware and B. Barfoot(2000). Parental Stress was measured by the Parenting Stress Index-Short Form(PSI-SF, R. R. Abidin, 1995) revised by M. E. Haskett, L. S. Ahern, C. S. Ward and J. C. Allaire(2006). The data were analyzed through mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression. The results of this study were as follows: First, the mean score of husband's emotional support was higher than average and the mean score of mother-teacher partnership was an average level. Parenting stress was lower than average. Second, there were statistically differences in maternal parental stress according to number of children and mother's educational level. Third, husband's emotional support and mother-teacher partnership were influenced by maternal parental stress. The results of this study are important because they show mothers, fathers, and teachers ways to reduce maternal parental stress.
