Spatial and spectral characteristics of an optical demultiplexer based on a holographic chirp grating

  • In this paper, the spatial and spectral characteristics of an optical demultiplexer based on a chirp volume holographic grating are presented. The chirp grating is recorded by illuminating the photopolymer film under the interference of a convergent beam and divergent beam. The dependence of the spatial distance on the grating-focusing lens separation is observed. The bandwidth and the crosstalk between two channels with 0.4-nm spectral interval are 0.13 nm and 12 dB, respectively.

  • In this paper, Gaussian apodized volume grating for demultiplexer is implemented. A 22-channel demultiplexer based on that grating is optically demonstrated. The channel spacing, the interchannel cross-talk level and the channel uniformity of 0.8 nm, -30 dB and 1.5 dB, respectively, are obtained.(omitted)

  • A method for fabrication of holographic optical elements (HOE) using dichromated gelatin (DGG) as a recording material is presented. we describe the holographic properties of the DGG and the processing techniques. Holographic characteristics of the DGG including exposure characteristics, diffraction efficiency and angular sensitivity are also discussed. The diffraction efficiency of the obtained holographic grating is about 84%.

  • In this paper, we investigated the diffraction efficiency of polarization holography using by amorphous $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ multi-layer thin films by He-Ne laser. Multi-layer structures were formed by alternating a layer of meta1(Ag) and chalcogenide( $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ ). The holographic grating in these thin flims has been formed using a linealy polarized He-Ne laser light (633nm). The diffraction efficiency was investigated the two sample of $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}-7$ layers and $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}-15$ layers. As the results, we found that the diffraction efficiency of $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}-7$ layers and $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}-15$ layers were 1.7% and 2.5% respectively.

  • In this study, we have investigated the holographic grating formation on Ag-doped amorphous As-Ge-Se-S thin films. The dependence of diffraction efficiency as afunction of Ag layer thickness has been investigated in this amorphous chalcogenide films. Holographic gratings was formed using [P:P] polarized Diode Pumped Solid State laser (DPSS, 532.0 nm). The diffraction efficiency was obtained by +1st order intensity. The results were shown that the diffraction efficiency of Ag/AsGeSeS double layer thin films for the Ag thickness, the maximum grating diffraction efficiency using 60 nm Ag layer is 0.96%.

  • Since the grating optical low-pass fillet degrades the resolution of images, we developed a hologram optical low-pass filter that show low degradation of the image and studied its characteristics. We designed the hologram that divides input beam into circular shaped 21 beams with a Monte-Carlo based hologram generation program and calculated its MTE characteristics to compare it with that of a grating filter. The hologram was manufactured through the optical lithography process and attached to a digital imaging device (Zoran 732212) for measurement. The moirfiltering is compared with zone plate images and the resolution loss is measured with USAF resolution chart. The hologram optical low-pass filter showed better characteristics in both moly filtering and resolution.

  • We have investigated the holographic grating formation on Ag-doped amorphous chalcogenide As2Se3 thin films with Ag layer. The basic optical parameter which is a refractive index and extinction coefficent was taken by n&k analyzer. The source of laser was selected based on these parameter. Holographic gratings have been formed using He-Ne laser (wavelength: 632.8 nm) Diode Pumped Solid State laser (DPSS, wavelength: 532.0 nm) under [P:P] polarized the intensity polarization holography. The diffraction efficiency was obtained by +1st order intensity.

  • Holographic demultiplexer for the wavelength-division multiplexing optical communication system is proposed, and some experimental results are presented. To record the multiple holographic grating channels in the Fe:LiNbO$_3$ crystal, angular multiplexing and High-Low thermal fixing method are used.
