  • The purpose of this study is to contribute to the development of a source of cultural contents by proposing extension possibility of cultural contents based on an original source. To this end, this article examined an aspect of Sherlock Holmes contents based on the novel "Sherlock Holmes" published in 1887. It has been produced as 217 different contents from 1899 to 2017 after publishing the novel Sherlock Holmes, and consequently, it has become the best material for the study of the expansion of contents. As a research method, we examined the concept of Transmedia with the change of media environment. Next, we examined the production method of "Sherlock Holmes" contents, analyzed the transformation factors according to each media, and presented the expansion of contents through "Sherlock Holmes" contents.

  • A new in-line method for sampling neutrons emitted in (${\alpha}$,n) reactions based on alpha particle source information has been developed for continuous-energy Monte Carlo simulations. The new method uses a continuous-slowing-down model coupled with (${\alpha}$,n) cross section data to precompute the expected neutron yield over the alpha particle lifetime. This eliminates the complexity and computational cost associated with explicit charged particle transport. When combined with an integrated alpha particle decay source sampling capability, the proposed method provides an efficient and accurate method for sampling (${\alpha}$,n) neutrons based solely on nuclide inventories in the problem, with no additional user input required. Results from several example calculations show that the proposed method reproduces the (${\alpha}$,n) neutron yields and energy spectra from reference experiments and calculations.

  • In this paper, we propose wavelet-based procedures to identify the difference between images, including portraits and handwriting. The proposed methods are based on a novel combination of multiscale methods with a regularization technique. The multiscale method extracts the local characteristics of an image, and the distinct features are obtained through the regularized regression of the local characteristics. The regularized regression approach copes with the high-dimensional problem to build the relation between the local characteristics. Lytle and Yang (2006) introduced the detection method of forged handwriting via wavelets and summary statistics. We expand the scope of their method to the general image and significantly improve the results. We demonstrate the promising empirical evidence of the proposed method through various experiments.

  • Wind speeds can vary rapidly and wind turbines cannot easily follow these variations because of their inertia and aerodynamic characteristics. For maximum energy extraction. the turbine blades should operate at their optimum tip speed ratio, but with rapid changes in wind speed. this is usually not possible. To improve the energy extraction from turbulent wind, it is necessary to establish an effective measure of the high frequency component of the wind. and then to use this measure to optimise the operation of the turbine controller for maximum energy extraction. This paper presents an approach for combining readings from three anemometers into a composite wind speed measurement. and using this signal to control the operation of a permanent magnet generator to achieve maximum energy extraction. The method combines simulation and experimental investigations into a heuristic algorithm. and demonstrates its effectiveness with field trials.

  • In this study, a real-time evaluation system for quantitative dynamic fitting during pedaling was developed. The system is consisted of LED markers, a digital camera connected to a computer and a marker detecting program. LED markers are attached to hip, knee, ankle joint and fifth metatarsal in the sagittal plane. Playstation3 eye which is selected as a main digital camera in this paper has many merits for using motion capture, such as high FPS (Frame per second) about 180FPS, $320{\times}240$ resolution, and low-cost with easy to use. The maker detecting program was made by using Labview2010 with Vision builder. The program was made up of three parts, image acquisition & processing, marker detection & joint angle calculation, and output section. The digital camera's image was acquired in 95FPS, and the program was set-up to measure the lower-joint angle in real-time, providing the user as a graph, and allowing to save it as a test file. The system was verified by pedalling at three saddle heights (knee angle: 25, 35, $45^{\circ}$) and three cadences (30, 60, 90 rpm) at each saddle heights by using Holmes method, a method of measuring lower limbs angle, to determine the saddle height. The result has shown low average error and strong correlation of the system, respectively, $1.18{\pm}0.44^{\circ}$, $0.99{\pm}0.01^{\circ}$. There was little error due to the changes in the saddle height but absolute error occurred by cadence. Considering the average error is approximately $1^{\circ}$, it is a suitable system for quantitative dynamic fitting evaluation. It is necessary to decrease error by using two digital camera with frontal and sagittal plane in future study.

  • This study on stress and coping method of psychiatric patients and non-psychiatric peoples was applied to people who was divided into two groups from Sep. 25 to Oct. 3, 1978, One is hospitalized patients in psychiatric wards of four hospitals in Seoul. The other is inhibitants in two Dongs of Seoul, This study purposed to the identification of the difference of stressful events’numbers, the severity of stress, and difference of coping methods between psychiatric patients and non-psychiatric peoples. Two instruments are used in this study. The first one to measure stress, is Holmes & Rahe (1967)'s SRRQ (Social Readjustment Rating Questionnaire), which is amended, added or omitted through preliminary test, so that it consists of 48 items. The second one is for evaluating coping method on stress. It consists of 34 items amended through preliminary test after consideration of related literature review and survey on the basis of J.M.Bell (1977)'s“ 18-item-Questionnaire”. The materials were analyzed by S.P.S.S. Program. The results of analysis are as follows: 1. There was no significant difference in stressful event's numbers between psychiatric patients and non-psychiatric peoples (P > 0.5). 2. Psychiatric patients had higher severity of stress than non-psychiatric peoples (P < 0.5). 3. Psychiatric patients took more short-term coping methods than non-psychiatric peoples (p < 0.5).

The other is inhibitants in eight Dongs of Seoul. This study compared the number and seversity of stressful life events reported by medical patients and community people within last six months, identified coping methods used by the two groups and explored the relationship between stressful life events and coping methods. Two instruments are used in this study. The first one to measure stressful life events, is Holmes & Rahe(1967)'s S.R.R.S.(Soual Readjustment Rating Scale), which is translated & amended, So that it consists of 51 items. • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related on pain in female office workers. Methods : Neck pain group of 31 female subjects complained of neck and arm discomfort. Normal group of 20 female subjects had no complaints or minimal discomfort. Cervical curvature and muscle tone were assessed by whole spine x-ray, meridian-electromyography(MEMG), craniovertebral angle, and Moire. Neck pain was evaluated by Neck Disability Index(NDI) and Visual Analog Scale(VAS). The emotional and other physical factors that could effect neck pain were checked by questionnaires including Beck Depression Index(BDI), Stress Reaction Index(SRI), Holmes & Rahe Social Readjustment Rating Scale(SRRS), International Physical Activity Questionnaire(IPAQ), and Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale(GSRS). Results : The contraction and fatigue of upper trapezius by MEMG was significantly higher in the neck pain group. And BDI, SRI, SRRS, and GSRS were significantly higher in the neck pain group (p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the Jackson's angle, Cobb's method, craniovertebral angle, and moire between two groups. Conclusions : The results suggest that neck pain is related to mental stress rather than physical stress and physical stress does not change cervical curvature significantly.
