According to the variation of hydrostatic pressure on the central axis of deformable material, the V-shaped central bursting defect may be created on extrusion or drawing processes. The process factors whichaffect the generation of defects are die semi-angle, reduction ratio of cross-sectional area, friction factor, material properties and so on. The combination of these factors can determine the prossibility of defect creation and the shape of various round holes which have been created inside already. By the rigid plastic finite element method, this paper describes the observations of change in shape of a round hole with process conditions suchas die semi-angle, reduction ratio of cross-sectional area and friction factorat the unsteady state of axi-symmetrical extrusion process when the round hole is alreadyexisted inside the original billet, and also, the effects of process factors are investigated to prevent the possible defects.
Electric vehicle body has to be subjected to uniform load and requires auxiliary equipment such as air pipe and electric wire pipe. Especially, the cross beam supports the weight of passenger and electrical equipments. a lightweight vehicle body is salutary to save operating costs and fuel consumption. Therefore this study is to perform the size and the shape optimization of crossbeam fur electric vehicle using the method of topology optimization to introduce the concept of homogenization based on optimality criteria method which is efficient for the problem having the number of design variables and a few boundary condition. this provides the method to determine the optimum position and shape of circular hole in the cross beam and then can achieve the optimal design to reduce weight.
In the study, based on analysing bond strength of MPC and existing rapid harding grout according to shape of cross section, early ages shape of cross section is investigated about effect on bond strength to use MPC as an emergency repair material for road defects such as the form of a pot-hole. The result, MPC is about 10% higher than the shear bond strength rapid harding grout, about 20% higher bending bond strength.
In this paper, the illuminator is designed to recognize the shape and the existence of holes of radiation fin in the point that the light reflection characteristics are different according to the roughness of the material. The threshold value, the positions of holes and the black pixel nembers in the positon are obtained under the illuminator, in accordance with the reference image, by applying binary conversion and hole segmentation algorithm, as they are suggested in this paper, The existence and shape of hole are recognized by calculating the distance and feature value in the test image, which is obtained from the parameters of reference image. It is programmed to apply to GUI(Graphic User the Interface) in windows. More than 98% of recognition rate is shown, as it is applied to three different sizes of the radiation fin.
Experimental study was conducted to investigate the seismic behavior of roof joint. Eight full-scale specimens were tested considering the effects of axial force, joint height, hole shape of base plate and edge distance of concrete on the failure mode and resistance capacity of roof joint. With the increase of axial force, the hysteretic curves were fuller. The mechanical model of roof joint change from bending to shear. With the increase of joint height, the ultimate strength of roof joint decreased. If the hole shape of base plate changed from circle to loose, the slip behavior of roof joint appeared and the ultimate strength of roof joint decreased. The damage of edge concrete may occur if the edge distance of concrete was not big enough.
This study was carried out to investigate the influence of distance of planting holes (51, 45, and 40 cm) and number of plants per a hole(4, 5, 6 plants) on agronomic characteristics, yield, and quality of an aromatic tobacco, Sohyang. The results are as follows: 1. Relative light intensity increased by widening the distance of holes. 2. Leaf area per a plant or per a leaf, and leaf length and width increased by widening the distance of holes and decreased by increasing the number of plants per a hole. But L. A. 1. increased by increasing the number of plants per a hole. Leaf shape index (Leaf length/Leaf width) showed little differences among treatments. 3. Dry weight of leaf, root, and stem per a plant decreased by increasing the number of plants per a hole. 4. Total nitrogen decreased by increasing number of plants per a hole and in the case of narrow distance of holes, but nicotine, reducing sugar, ether-extract and ash showed little differences. 5. Yield per 10a decreased by widening the distance of holes. 6. Quality(price per kg) was improved by increasing the number of plants per a hole at the Plot of 51m distance of holes. But there was no variation at the Plot of 45cm. And quality was decreased at the plot of 40cm distance of holes by increasing the number of Plants per a hole. 7. Price per 10a was highest in the plot of which plant spacing was $90\times$40cm and the number of plants per a hole was 4 (11112 plant/10a).
Wireless sensor networks are used to monitor and control areas in a variety of military and civilian areas such as battlefield surveillance, intrusion detection, disaster recovery, biological detection, and environmental monitoring. Since the sensor nodes are randomly placed in the area of interest, separation of the sensor network area may occur due to environmental obstacles or a sensor may not exist in some areas. Also, in the situation where the sensor node is placed in a non-relocatable place, some node may exhaust energy or physical hole of the sensor node may cause coverage hole. Coverage holes can affect the performance of the entire sensor network, such as reducing data reliability, changing network topologies, disconnecting data links, and degrading transmission load. It is possible to solve the problem that occurs in the coverage hole by finding a coverage hole in the sensor network and further arranging a new sensor node in the detected coverage hole. The existing coverage hole detection technique is based on the location of the sensor node, but it is inefficient to mount the GPS on the sensor node having limited resources, and performing other location information processing causes a lot of message transmission overhead. In this paper, we propose an Adjacent Matrix-based Hole Coverage Discovery(AMHCD) scheme based on connectivity of neighboring nodes. The method searches for whether the connectivity of the neighboring nodes constitutes a closed shape based on the adjacent matrix, and determines whether the node is an internal node or a boundary node. Therefore, the message overhead for the location information strokes does not occur and can be applied irrespective of the position information error.
An experimental study has been conducted to measure the temperature fields and the local film cooling effectiveness for two and three staggered rows of the rectangular shaped-holes with various blowing rates. The hydraulic diameter of rectangular-shaped hole is 10mm. To compare with the film cooling performance of rectangular-shaped hole, two kinds of circular holes are tested. One has the same hydraulic diameter as the rectangular hole and the other has the same cross sectional area. Also, rectangular holes with expanded exit with same inlet area as rectangular ones are tested. Temperature fields are measured using a thermocouple rake attached on three-axis traversing system. Adiabatic film cooling effectiveness on the surface are obtained based on experimental results of thermochromic liquid crystals. The film cooling effectiveness is measured for various blowing rates and compared with the results for the cylindrical holes. In case of 2 rows, the rectangular holes has better performance than circular holes due to its slot-like geometry. In case of 3 rows, the effecta of hole shape is not clear.
We investigate transmission of light in nanoscale structures. We present spatial and temporal domain measurements of the dephasing of surface plasmon excitations in metal films with periodic nano-hole arrays. By probing coherent spatial SP propagation lengths of a few f1. $\mu$m and an ultrafast decay of the SP polarization on a 10 fs timescale, we demonstrate that the SP transmission peaks are homogeneously broadened by the SP radiative lifetime. The pronounced wavelength and hole size dependence of the dephasing rate shows that the microscopic origin of the conversion of SP into light is a Rayleigh-like scattering by the periodic hole array. We have experimentally studied the dephasing of surface plasmon excitations in metallic nano-hole arrays. By relating nanoscopic SP propagation, ultrafast light transmission and optical spectra, we demonstrate that the transmission spectra of these plasmonic bandgap structures are homogeneously broadened. The spectral line shape and dephasing time are dominated by Rayleigh scattering of SP into light and can varied over a wide range by controlling the resonance energy and/or hole radius. This opens the way towards designing SP nano-optic devices and spatially and spectrally tailoring light -matter interactions on nanometer length scales.
This paper presents a method by which multiple holes of ultra small size can be punched simultaneously. Silicon wafers were used to fabricate punching die. Workpiece used in the present investigation were the rolled pure copper of $3{\mu}m$ in thickness and CP titanium of $1.5{\mu}m$ in thickness. The metal foils were punched with the dies and arrays of circular and rectangular holes were made. The diameter of holes ranges from $2-10{\mu}m$. The process set-up is similar to that of the flexible rubber pad forming or Guerin process. Arrays of holes were punched successfully in one step forming. The punched holes were examined in terms of their dimensions, surface qualities, and potential defect. The effects of the die hole dimension on ultra small size hole formation of the thin foil were discussed. The optimum process condition such as proper die shape and diameter-thickness ratio (d/t) were also discussed. The results in this paper show that the present method can be successfully applied to the fabrication of ultra small size hole array in a one step operation.
