IRW(Inverter Resistance Welding) process and DSW(Delta-spot welding) process for dissimilar materials of DP590 and Al5052 were performed to evaluate the welding quality and mechanical properties. IRW experiment was carried out with changing the welding current. The other welding parameters such as pressure force, weld time, squeezing time and holding time were fixed. On the anther hand, DSW experiment was performed using the process tape at welding current of 11.5kA. The other conditions were same as IRW conditions. The various testes such as shear tensile strength, nugget diameters, EDS, SEM and cross-sectional observation for weld zone was performed. As a result, IMC(Inter Metallic Compound) thickness at 11.5kA was thinner than those of 9.5kA and 10.5kA conditions. In addition, thined IMC layer was observed when high electric current apply to the materials(DP590 and Al5052) in a short time throught dissimilar resistance spot welding controling welding conditions. The relationship between the thickeness of IMC and current intensity was after discussed.

The SiC-$ZrB_2$ composites were fabricated by combining 40vol.% of Zirconium Diboride(hereafter, $ZrB_2$) powders with Silicon Carbide(hereafter, SiC) matrix. TheSiC+40vol.%$ZrB_2$ composites were manufactured through Spark Plasma Sintering(hereafter, SPS) under argon atmosphere, uniaxial pressure of 50MPa, heating rate of $100^{\circ}C$/min, sintering temperature of $1,500^{\circ}C$ and holding time of 5min. But one on/off pulse sequence(one pulse time: 2.78ms) is 10:9(hereafter, SZ10), and the other is 48:8(hereafter, SZ48). The physical and mechanical properties of the SZ12 and SZ48 were examined. Reactions between $\beta$-SiC and $ZrB_2$ were not observed via X-Ray Diffraction(hereafter, XRD) analysis. The apparent porosity of the SZ10 and SZ48 composites were 9.7455 and 12.2766%, respectively. The SZ10 composite, 593.87MPa, had higher flexural strength than the SZ48 composite, 324.78MPa, at room temperature. The electrical properties of the SiC-$ZrB_2$ composites had Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistance(hereafter, PTCR).
The effects of low-temperature blanching on the physical properties of chestnut powder were studied. Chestnuts were blanched in water for 15, 30 and 60 min., each at three temperatures viz. $45^{\circ}C,\;55^{\circ}C$ and $65^{\circ}C$. The particle size of chestnut powder was prepared smaller than 60 mesh$(250\;{\mu}m)$. Higher blanching time and temperature increased water binding capacity(WBC) of chestnut powder. Water soluble index(WSI) was the highest for chestnuts blanched at $65^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. As with water binding capacity(WBC), swelling power of chestnut powder increased with increasing blanching time and temperature but solubility showed an reduction by increasing blanching temperature. In Brabender amylographic examination, peak viscosity of chestnut powder showed great change, but the gelatinization temperature showed no significant differences by blanching conditions.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of strain on broiler performance, and age at slaughter and postchilling (PC) aging time on meat quality traits. A total of 500 one-day-old chicks (250 Hubbard classic and 250 Lohman) were reared under commercial conditions. Half of the broiler birds from each strain were slaughtered at 32 days and the other half at 42 days old. At each processing day, 168 carcasses were randomly selected (84 Hubbard and 84 Lohman) and divided into groups of 28 carcasses within each strain, and aged for 0, 4 and 24 h after chilling. Average weekly body weight was comparable between strains. Feed conversion ratio was higher (p<0.05) for the Hubbard strain during the second and third week of age. Initial carcass pH was significantly (p<0.05) affected by age where younger birds (32-d-old) had lower pH values than older (41-d-old) birds. Breast temperature was higher (p<0.001) for Lohman than Hubbard at 0, 2 and 4 h of PC. Younger birds had a lower breast temperature (p<0.001) at all measured times of PC. Thaw loss, cook loss and water holding capacity were not significantly affected by strain, age or aging time. Lohman strain had more tender meat (p<0.05) than Hubbard strain, and tenderness was improved with the increase of broiler age and aging time. Meats from Hubbard were lighter and less red than those from Lohman strain where younger birds had darker color. In conclusion, strain, age at slaughter and PC aging duration are critical to breast meat quality characteristics, and 4 h of aging are required before deboning in order to obtain more tender fillets.
Indentation was used to analyze high pressure phases of silicon. Phase transformations on both loading time and loading rate were studied. Micro-raman spectroscopy was used to observe the indentation-induced transformations. As the loading time increased, Si-III and Si-XII disappeared and only a-Si was observed in (111) samples. As the loading time increased, the residual stress was removed by creation of cracks or dislocations. At 0.1 mm/min loading rate, pop-in . At 5 mm/min loading rate pop-in was observed in force/displacement curve of (111) sample, but pop-in was not observed in force/displacement curve of (100) sample. This result indicates that the loading rate affects the volume of phase transformation in silicon.

The aim of this study is to find an analytic solution to the problem of determining the optimal capacity of a batch-storage network to meet demand for finished products in a system undergoing joint random variations of operating time and batch material loss. The superstructure of the plant considered here consists of a network of serially and/or parallel interlinked batch processes and storage units. The production processes transform a set of feedstock materials into another set of products with constant conversion factors. The final product demand flow is susceptible to joint random variations in the cycle time and batch size. The production processes have also joint random variations in cycle time and product quantity. The spoiled materials are treated through regeneration or waste disposal processes. The objective function of the optimization is minimizing the total cost, which is composed of setup and inventory holding costs as well as the capital costs of constructing processes and storage units. A novel production and inventory analysis the PSW (Periodic Square Wave) model, provides a judicious graphical method to find the upper and lower bounds of random flows. The advantage of this model is that it provides a set of simple analytic solutions while also maintaining a realistic description of the random material flows between processes and storage units; as a consequence of these analytic solutions, the computation burden is significantly reduced. The proposed method has the potential to rapidly provide very useful data on which to base investment decisions during the early plant design stage. It should be of particular use when these decisions must be made in a highly uncertain business environment.
Purpose : This study was designed to compare the easiness and speed of insertion of three supraglottic airway devices(SADs) in a manikin setting. Methods : Three different SADs - Laryngeal Mask Classic(cLMA), I-gel and Streamlined Liner of the Pharynx Airway(SLIPA) were applied. One hundred and nineteen paramedical students with(group H) or without (group L) previous airway experience were taught brief manikin training about the use of the cLMA, I-gel and SLIPA. The students inserted each device in a randomized order. Time to effective ventilation was recorded in seconds from holding the device to the first chest inflation. Success was determined as adequate chest wall movement. Results : The insertion attempts were lesser in I-gel($1.00{\pm}0.00$) and SLIPA($1.05{\pm}0.27$) than cLMA($1.16{\pm}0.41$, p<.05). The shortest time to insertion was recorded for I-gel($10.5{\pm}3.0sec$), followed by the SLIPA($12.9{\pm}4.5sec$) and cLMA($19.6{\pm}4.1sec$, p<.05). There were no significant differences in the insertion attempts and insertion time of I-gel between group L and group H. But in cLMA, longer insertion time and more insertion attempts were recorded in group L than group H. Conclusion : Both I-gel and SLIPA were superior to cLMA in the easiness and speed of insertion. Even in novice students, I-gel showed an excellent result in a manikin.
This study was investigated the changes of gel properties about pH, color and water holding capacity at various hydration time and temperature of food-grade additives (BPP: bovine plasma protein, DEW: dried egg white, SPI: soy protein isolate). The changes of rheological properties were checked about hydration time and temperature. Hydration time and temperature affected pH value, hydration decreased pH of SPI and DEW. The BPP was not influenced at hydration time and temperature. Some Hydration condition increased jelly strength of food-grade additive, but SPI did not form a gel at all hydration condition. Hydration increased lightness of food-protein.
The precipitates, hardness, and tensile properties of Al-6.2Si-2.9Cu AC2B alloy were investigated with respect to solution treatment time at $500^{\circ}C$. $Al(Cu)-Al_2Cu$ eutectic, Si, ${\theta}-(Al_2Cu)$, and $Q-(Al_5Cu_2Mg_8Si_6)$ phases were observed in the as-cast specimen. With increasing the solution treatment time at $500^{\circ}C$, the $Al(Cu)-Al_2Cu$ eutectic and ${\theta}-(Al_2Cu)$ phases were gradually reduced and finally almost disappeared in 5 h. The mechanical properties, such as hardness, tensile strength, and elongation, were improved with solution treatment time until about 5 h due to the dissolution of the $Al_2Cu$ particles. With further holding time, the mechanical properties did not change much. The solution treated specimens for over 5 h at $500^{\circ}C$ exhibit almost the same tensile properties even after aging at $250^{\circ}C$ for 3.5 h. Accordingly, the optimal solution treatment condition of the Al-Si-Cu AC2B alloy is considered to be 5 h at $500^{\circ}C$.
Purpose: To evaluate the optimal number of additional half hitches for achieving an optimal knot-holding capacity (KHC) of Lockable sliding knots. Methods: Four configurations of arthroscopic knots (Duncan loop, Field knot, Giant knot, and SMC knot) were tested for their knot-holding capacity. For each knot configuration, 6 sequential knots were made including the initial sliding knot and additional 5 knots by incrementing one half hitches at a time. Each added half-hitch were in reversing half-hitches with alternate posts (RHAPs) fashion. For each sequential knot configuration, 12 knots were made by No. 2 braided sutures. On the servo-hydraulic material testing system (Instron 8511, MTS, Minneapolis, MN), cyclic loading, load to clinical failure (3-mm displacement), load to ultimate failure, and mode of failure were measured. Results: Most of the initial loop without additional half-hitch showed dynamic failure with cyclic loading. The mean displacement after the end of cyclic loading decreased with each additional half-hitches. SMC and Giant knot reached plateau to 0.1 mm or less displacement after one additional half-hitch, shereas Field and Duncan loop needed 3 additional half-hitches. The SMC and Duncan knots needed 1 additional half-hitch to reach greater than 80N at clinical failure, whefeas the other 2 knots needed2 additional half-hitches. For the load exceeding 100N for clinical failure, the SMC knot required 3 additional half-hitches and the other three knots needed 4 additional half-hitches. As the number of additional half-hitches incremented, the mode of failure switched from pure loop failure (slippage) to material failure (breakage). Duncan loop showed poor loop security in that even with 5 additional half-hitches, some failed by slippage (17%). On the other hand, after 3 additional half-hitches, the 3 other knots showed greater than 75% of failure by material breakage mode (SMC and Field 92%, Giant 75%). Conclusion: Even with its own locking mechanism, lockable sliding knot alone does not withstand the initial dynamic cyclic load. For all tested variables, SMC knot requires a minimum of 2 additional half-hitches. Duncan knot may need more than 3 additional half-hitches for optimal security. All knots showed a mear plateau in knot security with 3 or more additional half-hitches.
