The effect of bonding condition on tensile properties of joints diffusion bonded spheroidal graphite cast iron, FCD60 to Cr-Mo steel, SCM 440 was investigated. Diffusion bonding was performed with various temperatures, holding times, pressures and atmospheres. All tensile specimens were fractured at the bonding interface. The tensile strength and elongation was increased with increasing bonding temperature. Especially, tensile strength of joints bonded at 1123K was higher than that of a raw material, FCD60, and tensile strength of joints bonded at 1173K was equal to that of a raw material, SCM440, but elongation of all joints was lower than those of raw materials. There was little the effect of holding time on the tensile properties. In comparison with bonding atmosphere, the difference of tensile strength was not observed, but elongation of joint bonded at vacuum(6.7mPa and 67mPa) was higher than that of Ar gas. Higher the degee of vacuum, elongation increased. Tensile properties of diffusion bonds depended on microstructures of cast iron at the interface and void ratio. Microstructures of cast iron at interface changed with temperature, because decarburizing and interdiffusion at the interface occurs and transformation of austenite-1 ferrite + graphite occurs on the cooling process. The void ratio decreased with increasing temperature, especially, effected on the elongation.
Magnesium alloy is the lightest practical metal. It has excellent specific strength and recyclability as well as abundant reserves, and is expected to be a next-generation structural metal material following aluminum alloy. This paper investigated the possibility of thin plate fabrication by applying a overheating treatment to the melt drag method, and investigating the surface shape of the thin plate, grain size, grain size distribution, and Vickers hardness. When the overheating treatment was applied to magnesium alloy, the grains were refined, so it is expected that further refinement of grains can be realized if the overheating treatment is applied to the melt drag method. By applying overheating treatment, it was possible to fabricate a thin plate of magnesium alloy using the melt drag method, and a microstructure with a minimum grain size of around 12 ㎛ was obtained. As the overheating treatment temperature increased, void defects increased on the roll surface of the thin plate, and holding time had no effect on the surface shape of the thin plate. The fabricated thin plate showed uniform grain size distribution. When the holding times were 0 and 30 min, the grain size was refined, and the effect of the holding time became smaller as the overheating treatment temperature increased. As the overheating temperature becomes higher, the grain size becomes finer, and the finer the grain size is, the higher the Vickers hardness.

Comparing the effects of sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) concentrations of 0.2% and 0.4% on beef semitendinosus is the objective of the current investigation. The samples were cooked at varied temperatures (45+60℃ and 45+70℃) and times (1.5+1.5 h and 3+3 h) using staged cooking. The colour properties, cooking loss, water retention, shear force, water-holding capacity, sarcoplasmic, and myofibrillar solubility, and total collagen were investigated. The cooking time and temperature affected the water-holding capacity, cooking loss, CIE L*, CIE a*, CIE b*, myofibrillar, and sarcoplasmic solubility, with lower temperature and short time having the lower detrimental effect. However, the significant effect can be intensified after the addition of STPP with higher water-holding capacity and tender meat obtained with 0.4% phosphate concentration at any cooking conditions. The STPP lowered the collagen content and increased the protein solubility of myofibrillar and sarcoplasmic, which this degradation is used as a good indicator of tenderness.
This paper describes an 8b 52 MHz CMOS subranging analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) applications. The proposed ADC based on the improved time-interleaved architecture removes the holding time which is typically observed in the conventional double-channel subranging ADCs to increase throughput rate. Moreover, the ADC employs the interpolation technique in the back-end subranging ADCs far residue signal processing to minimize die area and power consumption. The fabricated and measured prototype ADC in a 0.8 um n-well double-poly double-metal CMOS process typically shows a 52 MHz sampling rate at a 5 V supply voltage with 230 mW, and a 40 MHz sampling rate at a 3 V power supply with 60 mW power consumption.
This study has been performed to investigate into some effects of temperature, gas mixing ratio and time on the optical microstructure, hardness and wear characteristics of medium carbon alloy steel treated by plasma nitriding. The results obtained from the experiment are summarized as follows: (1) Optical micrographs of AISI 4140 steel plasma-nitrided by the double stage technique have revealed that the nitrided layer is composed of the compound layer and the diffusion layer. The variation in temperature at the first stage gives effects, on the formation of compound layer and the growth rate is shown to be relatively fast at $460^{\circ}C$. (2) The thickness of compound layer has been found to increase with increasing nitrogen percentage in the gas mixture and the holding time. It is therefore recommended that a shorter holding time and a lower nitrogen percentage are more effective to produce a tougher compound layer and a diffusion layer only. (3) X-ray diffraction analysis for AISI 4140 steel has shown that the compound layer consist of ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Fe_4N$ and ${\alpha}-Fe$ and that tough compound layer diffustion layer only can be obtained by the double stage plasmanitriding process. (4) There is also a tendency that the total hardened layer depth increases with increasing temperature, time and nitrogen percentage in the first stage during the double stage plasma nitriding. (5) The wear resistance of plasma nitrided specimens has been found thobe considerably increased compared to the untreated specimens and the amount of increment has appeared to increase further with increasing nitriding temperature, holding time and notrogen percentage of gas mixture in the first stage treatment.
Despite most of tasks in manufacturing, construction and agriculture, etc., were currently mechanized and automated, manual materials handling still existed in atypical working condition. In case of manual materials handling, repetitive work, inappropriate working posture, excessive force, contact stress might cause overload, which could lead to work-related musculoskeletal disorders and low back pains. On this basis, the goal of this study is to reveal the effects of various lifting postures of trunk angles and lower extremity postures on maximum holding time(MHT). Twenty two subjects were recruited from a university population. The experiment was designed by a combination of three trunk angle ($0^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$) and three lower extremity postures(straight, bent, kneeling). Before experimental trials, subjects performed MVC(maximum voluntary contraction) exertions in three trunk angles ($0^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$) to calculate 30%MVC at designated postures. In each trial, they were required to hold the handheld load(30%MVC) for a designated posture as long as they could. The results of MVC by trunk angles were measured in $0^{\circ}$ > $20^{\circ}$ > $60^{\circ}$ orders, but those of MHT measured in $20^{\circ}$ > $0^{\circ}$ > $60^{\circ}$ orders. These results showed that straight posture is the ideal working posture in work exerted a strong force for a short time, but the ability to work might be improved in the trunk angle $20^{\circ}$ in work required 30%MVC for a long time. Also, results of MVC and MHT by lower extremity postures measured in straight > bent > kneeling orders.

Pressure and temperature in the cavity of injection molding have been investigated. Special injection mold was designed to install pressure and temperature sensors. The sensors were supplied by KISTLER and the pressure and temperature were measured for various operational conditions, such as injection pressure, holding pressure, cooling time, mold temperature, and injection temperature. As injection pressure increased cavity pressure and temperature increase. There were no big differences in temperatures according to the holding pressures. As mold temperature increased pressure and temperature in the cavity increase. The flowability of resin increases as mold temperature increases subsequently the pressure in the cavity increases since the pressure loss is less in the low viscous medium than high ciscous medium. The cavity temperature highly depends upon mold temperature.

Variation in the microstructure of Mg-5%Al semi-solid slurry during isothermal heating was investigated in relation to initial microstructure, holding time, and holding temperature. Specimens with three different initial microstructures were isothermally heated. Dendritic structure in as-cast ingot was decomposed into solid globules in the semi-solid slurry during isothermal holding, while in the recrystallized specimens prepared by extrusion or rolling the size of solid particles was continuously increased during the heating. Effects of mold temperature and liquid fraction of slurry on the mold filling ability were also studied. Very thin section (0.4 mm) could be successfully filled up to 50 mm by 60% liquid slurry when the mold was heated to $600^{\circ}C$.

A novel set of experimental test tooling for measuring pulling and holding forces for drawbeads on binders inclined at a wide range of angles is introduced. A mechanical design featuring a single load cell, a male-female draw bead set, translation and rotation degrees of freedom, and a screw-driven clamping system has been incorporated into a standard tensile test machine. On a real time basis, restraining and holding force data with respect to draw-in displacement may be directly downloaded into a PC for data processing. The proposed experimental system represents a significant breakthrough in drawbead simulation technology due to its relatively low cost, clever design, and versatility. The system is shown to yield excellent experimental data suitable for verifying theory and numerical model predictions.

In this paper, we investigate an inventory system where a single manufacturer purchases and processes raw materials in order to deliver finished goods to multiple retailers. Earlier study in this type of supply chain only consider a single raw material in order to produce finished goods, but we consider multi-raw materials in order to produce finished goods. Also, we develop an iterative solution procedure to find the order quantity for the finished goods and raw materials, and the number of shipments between manufacturer and retailers that minimizes the total cost per unit time of the raw materials ordering and holding, manufacture's setup and finished goods holding, the retailer's ordering and inventory holding. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate that jointly considering the total cost results in less total cost than that of considering them separately.
