The purpose of this study is to explore the life history of a highly experienced elementary school teacher, Mr. Park and to understand how his science teaching practices have changed throughout his educational career. Using life history interviews with Mr. Park and his life history materials as data sources, a life story of the participant teacher was constructed. The ways teaching changed in the inter-relationship between external and personal factors were then analyzed according to three temporal periods of teaching changes. It was revealed that in the first period of teaching change, Mr. Park changed his science teaching practices by actively accepting influences from external factors, which in turn enabled him to start developing his expertise in student-centered science instruction. By contrast, in the second period of teaching change, Mr. Park strengthened his own ways of teaching while responding critically to the trends of educational change by external factors. In the third and final period of teaching change, Mr. Park made changes in teaching practices by taking advantage of his personal factors to convert influences of external factors into positive ones. Based on these findings, it was suggested that educational policies for teaching changes should be provided in consideration of teachers' life cycles and their expertise and that teachers should make efforts to reflect on the factors for educational change and transform them into positive ones.

Today, the museum historical material and mental, physical culture and heritage to preserve the collection and exhibition organization rather than to recognize that culture acts as a community to respond to the subject of the attitude and the ability jeokgeukhwa also due to the trend of the times due to changes in lifestyle education and research, and public participation in culture by expanding the role of dissemination activities are becoming. Museum exhibit these changes as part of a combination of various technologies in the coexistence of digital and analog display direction proactive and aggressive behavior, such as visitors expect to have an evaluation of the public and communicate the expectations of the plan in the exhibition space, the larger the effect can feel. This effective display for visitors to watch the way for a systematic approach to provide direction to the urgent reality. Museum visitors experienced officials to improve the quality of research in a variety of ways spectators began to try and move the action was to put the attention on the characteristics. Visitors to visit the Museum of History and ages, categorized by the type of display any difference in the behavior of the visitor experience and attributes based on what is being investigated for the History Museum's exhibition of any exhibit to visitors that experience and is to an analysis.

The International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) will next be held in Seoul, Korea from August 13th to 21st 2014. The ICM, currently hosted by the International Mathematical Union, has a history spanning a period of one hundred years and is traditionally held every four years. Felix Klein has often been credited with formulating the concept of the ICM, however George Cantor not only initially propagated the idea of forming a mathematical society in Germany, but also proposed organizing an international mathematical union. This study has endeavored to investigate the early period of development of the ICM. Specifically, this paper has studied the development of early 20th century mathematics through changes in the formulaic language of the ICM, the number of participants, the number of presentations, the nationality of plenary speakers, and the changes in sessions.

Through researching 鄕藥救急方, the oldest medical text published in Korea in existence known to date, a study from a Traditional Korean Medicine perspective was conducted. This study aims to observe the treatment of oral, glottal, labial, and dental diseases starting from 統一新羅時代 to the Koryo dynasty from a historical perspective and also find out what clinical significance it withholds. "鄕藥救急方" proposes methods of nurturing the teeth and in doing so displays the tendency of Traditional Korean Medicine of putting much weight on preventing diseases and nurturing the body. "鄕藥救急方" considers the oral, glottal, labial, and dental diseases as not only fundamental problems in itself but also treats them from a perspective that they are results of disharmony among the five viscera and the six bowels. The treatment methods mentioned in "鄕藥救急方" are directly cited in "鄕藥集成方" of early Chosun dynasty. In "東醫寶鑑" of mid-Chosun dynasty, however, changes and modificatios are made to the prescriptions.

At its simplest, this essay provides a narrative of migration in Asia since the arrival of Homo sapiens some 70,000 years ago. More fully, it presents the case for conducting long-term, world-historical interpretation for Asia with attention to multiple perspectives, which has become increasingly central to global historical analysis. Following an introductory articulation of the benefits of long-term interpretation, the second section presents a balance of three perspectives-empire, exchange, and migration-as frameworks for interpreting the Asian past. The third section presents further detail on migration in long-term Asian history. The concluding section identifies four changes in patterns of migration during the past two centuries and emphasizes the underlying importance of cross-community migration in long-term human biological and social evolution.

This paper proposes to examine how herbal medicine studies developed amidst the historical changes, by studying the publications of herbal medicine books. For this reason, centering on the most eminent herbal medicine books of each period, the characteristic of the times shown by their publication and the development of herbal medicine were summarized. Also, traces of herbal medicine books among the eminent classics that were imported into our medicine and made a deep impact, and whether or not a Chosun edition was published were researched and introduced in order to show the influence it had on Korean Medical History.

Time history dynamic structural analysis is a time consuming procedure when used for large-scale structures or iterative analysis in structural optimization. This article proposes a new methodology for approximate prediction of extremum point of the response history via wavelets. The method changes original record into a reduced record, decreasing the computational time of the analysis. This reduced record can be utilized in iterative structural dynamic analysis of optimization and hence significantly reduces the overall computational effort. Design examples are included to demonstrate the capability and efficiency of the Reduced Record Method (RRM) when utilized in optimal design of frame structures using meta-heuristic algorithms.

Recently industry goes through enormous revolution. Related to this, major changes in applied mathematics are occurring while coping with the new trends like machine learning and data analysis. The last two decades have shown practical applicability of the long-developed mathematical theories, especially some advanced mathematics which had not been introduced to applied mathematics. In this concern some countries like the U.S. or Australia have studied the changing environments related to mathematics and its applications and deduce strategies for mathematics research and education. In this paper we review some of their studies and discuss possible relations with the history of mathematics.

Here we review the evolutionary history of radiation therapy technology through the festschrift of articles in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Korean Society of Medical Physics (KSMP). Radiation therapy technology used in clinical practice has evolved over a long period of time. Various areas of science, such as medical physics, mechanical engineering, and computer engineering, have contributed to the continual development of new devices and techniques. The scope of this review was restricted to two areas; i.e., output energy production and functional development, because it is not possible to include all development processes of this technology due to space limitations. The former includes the technological transition process from the initial technique applied to the first model to the latest technique currently used in a variety of machines. The latter has had a direct effect on treatment outcomes and safety, which changed the paradigm of radiation therapy, leading to new guidelines on dose prescriptions, innovation of dose verification tools, new measurement methods and calculation systems for radiation doses, changes in the criteria for errors, and medical law changes in all countries. Various complex developments are covered in this review. To the best of our knowledge, there have been few reviews on this topic and we consider it very meaningful to provide a review in the festschrift in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the KSMP.

Exponential smoothing methods have enjoyed a long history of successful applications and have been used in forecasting for many years. However, it has been long known that one of the deficiencies of the method is an inability to respond quickly to interventions to interruptions, or to large changes in level of the underlying process. An exponential smoothing method adaptive to repeated random level changes is proposed using a change-detection statistic derived from a simple dynamic linear model. The results are compared with Trigg and Leach's and the exponential smoothing methods.
