  • This study presents how to vitalize the record management of the provinces by investigating the current issues and by identifying the universality and the distinctiveness of the record management in local agencies. However, it only deals with the system of the record management, focusing on the history of the provinces. Although the related projects conducted by the provinces of Korea consist of various types, including publishing the local history, creating the activities of local cultural institutes, and collecting and organizing the historical records, these have not been active in many regions with insignificant achievements. In this regard, local self-governing bodies need to actively fulfill the duty of the management not only for the administrative archives but also for the historical archives by aggressively interpreting the associated parts suggested by the Act on the Management of Public Archives. Ultimately, it is proper to integrate theses two functions. Moreover, an effective collection is the core part of the record management of history. Therefore, a 'committee' with experts should provide in-depth views from planning to post-processing stages. Meanwhile, a consensus on the importance and the necessity of the historical archive management between owners and concerned parties should be formed during the collection process. In conclusion, each local autonomous entity should make sure of the active record management of history through establishing their own mid to long-term development plans, securing experts in archive management, as well as providing the service for record contents.

  • In Korean Building Code 2005(KBC-2005), the Seismic Zone Factor is regulated by separating the seismic zone into two part. This seismic zone factor is not matched to regional seismic characteristics of our country because the factor is based on International Building Code 2000 (IBC-2000) of USA. This study inquiry for having a sufficient grasp of the seismic characteristics of south Korea region and appling for the seismic cope plan. We have collected and analyzed earthquake record happened in domestic region. There are two kinds of earthquake record. One is Historical earthquake data, another is Instrumental earthquake data. I used Instrumental earthquake record data which reliance is higher than historical earthquake data for proposing attenuation formulas by analyzing a correlation the epicenter and the distance.

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) encourages effective information share and utilization among project participants during entire life cycle of facility. This paper presents a method that keeps track of the historical quality records involved in construction operations and facilitates using BIM. The method is coded into BIM based Quality Record Traceability (BIM-QRT) System that makes use of historical records obtained from database administrating construction operations. This study is of value to practitioners because the method makes clear the project participants' responsibility relative to the quality of each and every element of the facility. The main objective of this research is to develop an accurate, fully automated method for construction Quality Record Tracking by using a BIM along with construction operations data obtained by information technology. Test cases verify the usability and validity of the methods implemented in the system.

  • The study researched the characteristic of helmet and armor reflecting Joseon Dynasty by focusing on the helmet and armor appearing in dramas, the Tear of Dragon and King Sejong, whose common point is the historical background, the early Joseon Dynasty, among the historical dramas, which are manufactured on the basis of historical person or age. First, the helmet and armor appearing in historical drama was reproduced on the basis of historical record depending on age. In the early Joseon Dynasty, helmet was classified into cheomju and wonju and armor was classified into chalgap, swaejagap, gyeongbeongap, dujeonggap and dudumigap. In drama, the Tear of Dragon and King Sejong, for helmet, cheomju and wonju were used and for armor, chalgap, dujeonggap and dudumigap, whose type and manufacture method were similar to that of historical record, were reproduced. Second, the helmet and armor appearing in historical drama searched for function. In drama, the Tear of Dragon, rather than heavy iron, plastic and textile were used and the metal scale inside armor was removed. In drama, King Sejong, the weight of armor was decreased by removing the metal scale inside armor and easy wearing was secured by using velcro. Third, the helmet and armor appearing in historical drama expressed various dramatic interpretations. In drama, the Tear of Dragon, the same color as that of armor was adopted for helmet to provide stable and unified feeling. Visually splendid display was added to armor by matching powerful prime color and glossy metal. In drama, King Sejong, modem sense was added to helmet and armor by actively using pastel color reflecting modem fashion.

  • This study reviewed the US military government's record management system to fill the gaps in Korea's record management history. The US military government's record management system adopted the concept of "mixed use" between the Japanese Government-General of Korea and the US Army because of the dualized administration and constituency of human resources. In addition, the US Army's record management method was introduced during the US military administration to manage historical records and produce official documents that mix Chinese and English letters.

  • This study considers the historical eruption record in 1702 from the volcanological point of view, which is presumed to have occurred from Mt. Baegdusan volcano. The minium volume of erupted materials is estimated to be $1.2km^3$ when calculated with an empirical formula using an isopach line obtained from two points 140 km away from the vent. The 1702 eruption was a paroxysmal one with VEI of 5. The historical record described a deposition of wind-modified fallout ash by movement of hot ash cloud. To prepare for the future eruption, we have to analyze historical literatures and understand characteristics of volcano.

  • This study focuses on establishing a base for approaching record disposition schedules, which may be felt unfamiliar, through the overview of record disposition schedules. For this purpose, this study examined the meaning of record disposition schedules, the significance and principle of their elements, and their operation. In addition, it presented tasks to perform for record disposition schedules to play a central role of record management in the future. This study showed that record disposition schedules authorize people to control and process records, and are closely related to the development and the stability of record disposition system in Korea. What is more, it proved that record disposition schedules enable the assessment of the historical values of records, so it is possible to maintain records from the perspective of historical records. Besides, record disposition schedules are important in that they contain information on organizations and their functions, based on which we can preserve and manage extrinsic information about records.

  • Objective : The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty is a primary historical record that has provided a great deal of information about what the Joseon Dynasty was like. However, as of yet, we know very little about the medical officers in Joseon dynasty, such as their government posts and official ranks. The purpose of this study is look in to the activities, government posts, and official ranks of the medical personnel by examining Yeongjosillok. Methods : First, I selected historical records containing '醫' in Yeongjosillok. Then, I organized medical officers' name by reading each record. I screened historical records in Yeongjosillok with their names to analyze their activities, government posts, and official ranks. When there was limited information available, I referred to The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty. Results : I found 262 historical records in Yeongjosillok containing '醫'. Then I found 26 people who served as medical officers in Yeongjosillok. Also, l found that 11 government posts and 7 official ranks were awarded to them throughout the 110 historical records in Yeongjosillok and The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty. Conclusion : Through this study, I was able to examine the detailed activities of unknown medical officers by studying the historical records in Yeongjosillok and The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty. Under the Joseon Dynasty's class-based society, the middle class had various restrictions. However, I found that medical officers that belonged to the middle class received exceptional treatment despite their social status.
