  • Actually mixed assembly line is mixed with open and close type workstation. This workstation is called hybridworkstation. The propose of this paper is to determine the sequencing of model that minimize line length for actual(hybridworkstation) mixed model assembly line. we developed three mathematical formulation of the problem to minimize the overall length of a line with hybrid station. Mathematical formulation classified model by operato schedule. Mixed model assembly line is combination program and NP-hard program. Thus computation time is often a critical factor in choosing a method of determining the sequence. This study suggests a tabu search technique which can provide a near optimal solution in real time and use the hill climbing heuristic method for selecting initial solution. Modified tabu search method is compared with MIP(Mixed Integer Program). Numerical results are reported to demonstrate the efficiency of the method.

  • A musculotendon model is proposed to predict muscle force during muscle fatigue due to the continuous functional electrical stimulation(FES). Muscle fatigue dynamics can be modeled as the electrical admittance of muscle fibers and included in activation dynamics based on the{{{{ { Ca}^{2+ } }}}} kinetics. The admittance depends on the fatigue variable that monotonically increase or decrease if electrical pulse exists or not, and on the stimulation parameters and the number of applied pulses. In the response of the change in activation the normalized Hill-type contraction dynamics connected with activation dynamics decline the muscle shortening velocity and thus its force under muscle fatigue. The computer simulation shows that the proposed model can express the muscle fatigue and its recovery without changing any stimulation parameters.

  • A structure of musculotendon model with a fatigue profile is investigated. The Hill-type musculotendon model can predicts the decline in muscle force for a given fatigue profile. It consists of nonlinear activation and contraction dynamics based on the physiological concepts. It is normalized for generalization to deal with the various muscles. Muscle force generated by continuous tetanic electrical monophasic pulsewidth modulation stimulation is decreased in time. A fatigue profile is expressed by a function of intramuscular acidification and applied to the relationship between muscle force and shortening velocity in contraction dynamics. The results of computer simulation are well matched with data in a literature which are isometrically performed for knee extension muscles. Also change in optimal fiber length has an effect only on muscle time, constant not on the steady-state tetanic force.

  • The musculotendon model is presented to show the declines in muscle force and shortening velocity during muscle fatigue due to the repeated functional electrical stimulation (FES). It consists of the nonlinear activation and contraction dynamics including physiological concepts of muscle fatigue. The activation dynamics represents $Ca^{2+}$ binding and unbinding mechanism with troponins of cross-bridges in sarcoplasm. It has the constant binding rate or activation time constant and two step nonlinear unbinding rate or inactivation time constant. The contraction dynamics is the modified Hill type model to represent muscle force - length and muscle force - velocity relations. A muscle fatigue profile as a function of the intracellular acidification, pH is applied into the contraction dynamics to represent the force decline. The computer simulation shows that muscle force and shortening velocity decline in stimulation time. And we validate the model. The model can predicts the proper muscle force without changing its parameters even when existing the estimation errors of the optimal fiber length. The change in the estimate of the optimal fiber length has an effect only on muscle time constant in transient period not on the tetanic force in the steady-state and relaxation periods.

  • An analytical model for a human body is important to predict muscle and joint forces. Because it is difficult to estimate muscle or joint forces from a human body, the objective of this study is the development of a reliable analytical model for a human body to evaluate the lower extremity muscle and joint forces. The musculoskeletal system of the human lower extremity is modeled as a multibody system employing the Hill-type muscle model. Muscle forces are determined to minimize energy consumption, and we assume that motion is constrained in the sagittal plane. Muscle forces are calculated through an equilibrium analysis while rising from a seated position. The musculoskeletal model consists of four segments. Each segment is a rigid body and connected by frictionless revolute joints. Muscles of the lower extremity are simplified to seven muscles with those that are not related to the sagittal plane motion are ignored. Muscles that play a similar role are combined together. The results of the present study are compared with experimental results to validate the lower extremity model and the assumptions of the present study.

  • This paper presents vibration control performance of a passenger vehicle installed with the mixed-mode type ER engine mounts. The performance is evaluated via hardware-in-the-loop-simulation(HILS) method. As a first step, a dynamic model of a vehicle featuring the ER engine mounts is formulated by taking into account the engine excitation forces. A new type of the fuzzy skyhook controller is then established in order to control both engine and body vibrations. This is accomplished by adopting a weighting parameter between two performance criteria which is to be determined from the fuzzy algorithm. Vertical displacement and acceleration of the engine mount obtained from the HILS method are provided in the frequency domain. In addition, vibration control performance between the conventional hydraulic engine mount and the proposed engine mount is compared in the time and frequency domains.

  • The dynamic stability of spinning beam with free boundary conditions for both edges subjected to a tip follower force $P_0+P_1cos{\Omega}t$ is analyzed. It is studied that the beam has a concentrated mass. and then the effects of the axial locations of the mass are studied. The beam is modelled with the Timoshenko type shear deformations. The Hamilton's principle is used to derive the equations of motion, and the critical spinning speed of a beam subjected to a follower force with various non-dimensional parameters is investigated. The finite elements are used with $C^0$ continuity to analyze the spinning beam model, and the method of multiple scales is tried to investigate the dynamic instability regions. The governing equations of motion involve periodic coefficients, which are not in the form of standard Mathieu-Hill equations. The result shows that the concentrated mass increases the dynamic stability of the spinning free-free beam subjected to a thrust.

  • In this study, the authors present a coupled fluid-structures-seabed interaction analysis of a monopile type of wind turbine foundations in liquefiable soils. A two dimensional analysis is performed with a nonlinear stiffness degradation model incorporated in the finite difference program Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua (FLAC), which captured the fundamental mechanisms of the monopiles in saturated granular soil. The effects of inertia and the kinematic flow of soil are investigated separately, to highlight the importance of considering the combined effect of these phenomena on the seismic design of offshore monopiles. Different seismic loads, such as those experienced in the Kobe, Santa Cruz, Loma Prieta, Kocaeli, and Morgan Hill earthquakes, are analyzed. The pore water pressure development, relative displacements, soil skeleton deformation and monopile bending moment are obtained for different predominant frequencies and peak accelerations. The findings are verified with results in the liter.

  • This study uses a muscle activation sensor and elbow joint model to develop an estimation algorithm for human elbow joint torque for use in a human-robot interface. A modular-type MVS (Muscle Volume Sensor) and calibration algorithm are developed to measure the muscle activation signal, which is represented through the normalization of the calibrated signal of the MVS. A Hill-type model is applied to the muscle activation signal and the kinematic model of the muscle can be used to estimate the joint torques. Experiments were performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm by isotonic contraction motion using the KIN-COM$^{(R)}$ equipment at 5, 10, and 15Nm. The algorithm and its feasibility for use as a human-robot interface are verified by comparing the joint load condition and the torque estimated by the algorithm.
