This paper introduces a method of estimating the knee joint moment developed during MVC. By combining the Hill-type muscle model and analytic results on moment arm and musculotendon length change as a function of hip and knee joint angle, the knee joint moment at a specific knee joint angle during MVC is determined. Many differences between the estimated results and the experimental data are noted. It is believed that these differences originate from inaccurate information on the muscle-tendon parameters. The establishment of exact values for the subject's muscle parameters is almost impossible task. However, sensitivity analysis shows that the tendon slack length is the most critical parameter when applying the Hill-type muscle model. The effect of a change of this parameter on the muscle length force relationship is analyzed in detail.
When a manual transmission equipped car stops on an incline where the nose of the car is higher than the rear, hill-start control or hill-holder could prevent the vehicle from rolling backward as the car moves forward. The easy-hill assist valve consists of a check valve and a needle type ON/OFF solenoid valve connected in parallel; it is a hydraulic actuator that can maintain brake pressure using an electrical signal from the ECU. As the EHA valve is a safety-related component of the brake system, high reliability as well as superior dynamic performance is required for it to be applied in commercial vehicles. This paper presents the design of the EHA valve as a piece of equipment that can simulate the brake actuation pressure with a pressurizing piston. Following specific test standards, the experimental results validate the implemented functions of the test equipment, proving the test stand to be effective for the performance and endurance of the EHA valve.

An experiment was conducted at the Yeongnam Crop Experiment Station to obtain basic informations about cultural techniques for high yield by manipulating plant spacing in association with seedling number. Cultivars showing relatively low competition index within or between rice hill were Palgongbyeo, Milyang 83. Milyang 90 and Sangpungbyeo, while those with high competition index were Pungsanbyeo, Samgangbyeo, Weongpungbyeo, Taebaegbyeo and Dongjinbyeo. Variations of agronomic characters such as culm length, spikelets per panicle, grain yield per panicle among each culm within hill were not interrelated among the characters. This phenomenon was also same within and between cultivar groups. However, cultivars having high competitive ability showed relatively low variation in agronomic characters. There was a trend that most of rice cultivars had a high positive correlation between total competition index and rice grain yield. Competition index between rice hill was more significant than that of within rice hill for Tongil type cultivars except Milyang 83 which belonged to low tillering capacity while both types of competition index within and between hill were important for Japonica type cultivars and Milyang 83 of Tongil type cultivar to increase rice yield.
This study validated the musculoskeletal model of the human lower extremity by comparative study between calculated muscle parameters through simulation using modified hill-type model and measured them through isokinetic exercise. And the relationship between muscle forces and moments participated in motion was quantified from the results of simulation. For simulation of isokinetic motion, a three-dimensional anatomical knee model was constructed using trials of gait analysis and the EMG-force model was used to determine muscle activation level exciting muscles. The modified Hill-type model was used to calculate individual muscle forces and moments in dynmaic analysis and the results were validated by comparing them of experiments on BIODEX. The results showed that there was a high correlation between calculated torques from simulation and measured them from experiments for isokinetic motion(R=0.97). Therefore we concluded that the simulation by using musculoskeletal model was so useful means to predict and convalesce musculoskeletal-related diseases, and analyze unrealizable experiment such as clash condition.

Complex terrain like hill, mountain, and escarpment etc. makes complex air flow. This topographic condition will affect not only speed but also turbulence of wind over the complex terrain. In this paper, turbulence intensities are considered to investigate characteristics of wind over cone-type hills. There are five simple hill models with different slope 0.1${\sim}$0.5(tan${\theta}$) for wind tunnel test. It was observed through wind tunnel tests that turbulence intensities of down-slope wind at the end of the 3-Dimensional hills remarkably increased but ones of windward slope wind at the front side of the hills slightly increased. Also, turbulence intensities proportionally increased with slope of the cone-type hills.

An experimental investigation on the wind flow over smooth bell-shaped two-dimensional hills with hill slopes (the ratio of height to half width) of 0.3 and 0.5 is performed in an atmospheric boundary-layer wind tunnel. Two categories of the models are used in the present investigation; six two-dimensional single-hills, and four continuous double-hills. The measurements of the flow field and surface static-pressure distribution are carried out over the Reynolds number (based on the hill height) of 1.9 $\times 10^4, 3.3 \times 10^4, and 5.6 \times 10^4$. The velocity profiles and turbulence characteristics are measured by the pitot-tube and X-type hot-wire anemometer, respectively. The undisturbed boundary-layer profile on the bottom surface of the wind tunnel is reasonably consistent with the power-law profile with $\alpha = 7.0 (1/\alpha$ is the power-law exponent) and shows good spanwise uniformities. The profiles of turbulent intensity are found to be consistent along the centerline of the wind tunnel. The measured non-dimensional speed-up profiles at the hill crest show good agreements with the predictions of Jackson and Hunt's linear theory. The flow separation occurs in the hill slope of 0.5, and the oil-ink dot method is used to find the reattachment points in the leeside of the hill. The measured reattachment points are compared with the numerical predictions. Comparisons of the mean velocity profiles and surface pressure distributions between the numerical predictions and the experimental results show good agreements.
Data on age and body weight at breeding, parity, previous litter size, days open and some descriptive body linear traits from 389 meat-type, prolific Black Bengal goats in Tripura State of India, were collected for 3 and 1/2 years (2007 to 2010) and analyzed using logistic regression model. The objectives of the study were i) to evaluate the effect of age and body weight at breeding, parity, previous litter size and days open on litter size of does; and ii) to investigate if body linear type traits influenced litter size in meat-type, prolific goats. The incidence of 68.39% multiple births with a prolificacy rate of 175.07% was recorded. Higher age (>2.69 year), higher parity order (>2.31), more body weight at breeding (>20.5 kg) and larger previous litter size (>1.65) showed an increase likelihood of multiple litter size when compared to single litter size. There was a strong, positive relationship between litter size and various body linear type traits like neck length (>22.78 cm), body length (>54.86 cm), withers height (>48.85 cm), croup height (>50.67 cm), distance between tuber coxae bones (>11.38 cm) and distance between tuber ischii bones (>4.56 cm) for discriminating the goats bearing multiple fetuses from those bearing a single fetus.

The Inhibiting activity of newly synthesized phenol (E-series) and triazine (T-series) derivatives was evaluated by using thylakoid membranes extracted from cyanobacteria (Anacystis nidulans $R_2$). There were no significant differences between phenol derivatives and dinoseb to the thylakoid membrane extracted from wild type in the Hill reaction. However, a phenol derivative, E-24 which has no -Cl at phenyl ring, did not show any activity. The longer the length of R substituents was in phenol derivatives, the lower inhibiting activity was in the Hill reaction. Triazine derivatives, T-27, T-28, T-40, T-41, T-47 and T-48 were also compared with diuron and atrazine. Among triazine compounds, T-27 and T-28 showed 10 and 30 times activity as high as atrazine to wild type, respectively. Other triazine derivatives, T-40, T-41, T-47 and T-48 showed low inhibiting activity to wild and mutant type. A structural difference of T-27 and T-28 from T-40, T-41, T-47 and T-48 was the presented of -C-NH-. Both T-27 and T-28 were very closely associated with serine, an amino acid located at the 264th position of D1 protein because of the resistant ratio(R/S) to mutant G-264 were higher than that of atrazine.
The Red Hill deposit of the Dongjom Copper Mine is the most promising deposit of the mine and under intensive exploration at present although there are eight more deposits of vein type. With total 2160m drilling of 9 holes completed and 400m drilling on two holes underway, the nature of the Red Hill deposit has come more clear. The copper content in the whole ore body is meager so far as the exploration done up to present indicates, but there are evidences that mineralization covers all over the granodiorite cupola at the Red Hill area. The petrological work and assay on the samples taken by the writers indicate that granodiorite rocks can be divided into fresh zone and alteration zone. Alteration zone consists of potassic and argillic zones accompanyied by silicification zone on basis of Lowell and Guilbert model Argillic zone has closely related with a mineralization in the Red Hill deposit. It has been cleared that the alteration acompanyied with the mineralization took place not only &long vertical fissures but also in the irregular lateral zone, the nature of which is unknown. Judging from the results of exploration and petrochemical study on the Red Hill deposit which is imbedded in a southern part of the granodiorite cupola, it can be concluded by the writer's opinion that the Red Hill deposit is possibly a porphyry copper deposit, because the shape of the ore body, mineral zoning and paragenesis and wall rock alteration resemble to those of typical porphyry copper deposits. It is the writers' opinion that more exploration work is required so as to evaluate the deposit.

This research was conducted to improve a hill seeding technology under puddled wet soil condition for direct seeded rice. There were severe constrains in hill sowing method under puddled wet soil such as a bird damages, dryness of seeds sown due to strong sunlight in May and buoyancy of seeds and young seedlings after raining and irrigation particular under strong wind. Thus, we have adopted a sandy type(<2mm) silicate covering method in Bokto drill seeding technology for a hill seeding method as well. The average silicate amount in order to cover seeds sown was of 840kg/ha which was evaluated to a proper volume for those problem solution and farmer's handling during sowing operation. In this experiment there was an additional problem like a precious hill drop of rice seeds, covering of silicate over hill seeded rice and seed broken during roller operation.
