This paper proposes a method to generate the velocity trajectory which guarantees user specified contour errors at corners for high speed and high precision motion control of CNC machines. The relation among the desired trajectory, system bandwidth and corner contour error are derived. Experiments show that the corner contour error specified by users can be guaranteed with the proposed velocity trajectory.
About two hundred stars within 50 pc from the sun, whose tangential velocity larger than 100 km/sec, have been selected on the basis of their proper motions and trigonometric parallaxes. A list of them along with their photoelectric UBV data and spectral types is given. The criterion on the tangential velocity, $v_t$ > 132 km/sec, was adopted for selection of high-velocity stars. The H-R diagram of these nearby high-velocity stars resembles that of a globular cluster, with the turnoff around $B-V{\approx}0.35$ and $M_v{\approx}4.0$, and the subdwarfs among these high-velocity stars are fainter than the main-sequence stars of Hyades by the amount of $1^m.25{\pm}0^m.30$ in the region with B-V < 1.40 on the average.
Passenger safety is one of the most important considerations in the purchase of an automobile. A curtain-type air bag is increasingly adapted in deluxe cars for protecting passengers from the danger of side clash. Inflator housing is a main part of the curtain-type air bag system for supplying high-pressure gases to pump up the air bag-curtain. Although the inflator housing is fundamental in designing a curtain-type air bag system, flow information on the inflator housing is very limited. In this study, we measured instantaneous velocity fields of a high-speed flow ejecting from the inflator housing using a dynamic PIV system. From the velocity field data measured at a high frame-rate, we evaluated the variation of the mass flow rate with time. From the instantaneous velocity fields of flow ejecting from the airbag inflator housing in the initial stage, we can see a flow pattern of broken shock wave front and its downward propagation. The flow ejecting from the inflator housing was found to have large velocity fluctuations and the maximum velocity was about 700m/s. The velocity of high-speed flow was decreased rapidly and the duration of high-speed flow over 400m/s was maintained only to 30ms. After 100ms, there was no perceptible flow.

PURPOSE: This study researched the effects of different types of high heels on the muscles surrounding the cervical spine, the thoracic spine, and the lumbar spine by analyzing muscle activation of the paraspinal muscles during walking while wearing high heels. The high heels were all of the same height: 8cm. METHODS: The 28 subjects in this experiment were females in their 20s with a foot size of 225-230mm. To measure the muscle activation of the paraspinal muscles, EMG electrodes were attached on the paraspinal muscles around C6, T7, and L5. The muscle activation during walking while wearing 8cm high wedge heels, setback heels, and french heels was measured. The measurements were performed 3 times each and the mean value of the result was used for analysis. Two kinds of velocity were used in this study. One of the velocity was 2.5 m/s. The other was 3.5 m/s. RESULTS: The muscle activation of paraspinal muscles increased significantly according to increase of walking velocity. But there was no significant difference according to the heel types. CONCLUSION: In view of the results, the height of heels and the velocity of walking are more convincing variables than the width of the heels on the muscle activation of paraspinal muscles. So wearing high heels is not recommended for those who have pain or functional problem of cervical and lumbar vertebrae.
We present the numerical implementation, simulation, and validation of the high-velocity impact experiments that have been described in the companion article. In this part, numerical investigations and simulations performed to mimic the tests are presented. The experiments were analyzed by the explicit integration-based software ABAQUS for improved simulations. Targets were modeled with a damaged plasticity model for concrete. Computational results of residual velocity and crater dimensions yielded acceptable results.

In this paper, it verifies the relationships between wheel velocity and surface roughness with the mirror surface grinding using electrolytic in-process dressing (ELID). In the general, as wheel velocity is high, surface roughness is better on the base of grinding theory. However, the relationships between wheel velocity and surface roughness is undefined due to the effect of electro-chemical dressing and the characteristics of materials. According to above relationships, ELID grinding experiment is carried out by following the change of wheel velocity. As the result of this study, it is found that surface roughness is not better as linearly as the increase of wheel velocity, but the limit of wheel velocity exists according to the characteristics of materials. Also, in contradiction to the present trend of high wheel velocity of manufacturing system for high surface integrity, it is able to expected to the base on the development of new ultra precision grinding method with the practicality of mirror surface grinding using ELID grinding method.
Recently, high-performance hybrid composite materials have been used for various industrial fields because of their superior high strength, high stiffness and lower weight. In this study, manufactured hybrid composite materials are composed of two parts. One is hard-anodized Al5083-O alloy as a face material and the other is high strength aramid fiber ($Twaron^{(R)}$ CT709) laminates as a back-up material. Resistance to penetration is determined by protection ballistic limit($V_{50}$, a static velocity with 50% probability for complete penetration) test method. $V_{50}$ tests with $0^{\circ}$obliquity at room temperature were conducted with 5.56mm ball projectiles that were able to achieve near or complete penetration during high velocity impact tests.
The aluminum composite panel are widely used for the external materials of high rise building because of well insulation of heat and sound and improved Constructability. However, the polyethylene in main material of the aluminum composite panel shows weakness in thermal and fire resistances. For this reason, flame is spread more quickly when the fire break out. Therefore, the potentiality of fire spread to the exterior wall is high due to difficulty of early extinguishment and effect of external air. In this study, numerical investigation was performed by using FDS program for flame spread characteristics with various external air velocity and direction in ten-story building with the aluminum composite external materials. As a result, the flame spread velocity is 0.134m/s and it takes 224 seconds for flames to spread to the 10th floor without external air velocity. however, the flame spread velocity decreases 40% and it takes 348 seconds for flames to spread to the 10th floor when external air velocity is 2.5 m/s. and air direction is little effect compared to air velocity.

The wave propagation characteristics of laminated composites subjected to a transverse high-velocity impact of a steel ball is investigated. For this purpose, high-velocity impact experiments were conducted to obtain the strain response histories, and a finite element analysis based on the higher-order shear deformation theory in conjunction with the static contact law is used. Test materials for investigation are glass/epoxy laminated composite materials with $[0^{\circ}/45^{\circ}/0^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}]_{2s}$ and $[90^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}-45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}]_{2s}$ stacking sequences. As a result, the strain responses obtained from the experiments represented the wave propagation characteristics in the transversely impact, also the wave propagation velocities obtained from high-velocity impact experiments and wave propagation theory agree well.

The velocity response of stiffened rectangular plate under high velocity impact was studied. Numerical simulation was conducted on the stiffened plate with four stiffeners under various impact positions. Considered stiffener types were rib, I, hat and T stiffener. For the center impact position of I stiffened plate, the simulated residual velocity was 365.6 m/s with the initial projectile velocity 500 m/s. The reinforcing characteristic of I stiffened plate was excellent among four stiffeners.
