  • This paper is a study on the thermal design of printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) to supply cryogenic high pressure liquid hydrogen stored from hydrogen liquefaction process by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). This PCHE should be thermally designed to raise the temperature of cryogenic liquid hydrogen to a desired temperature and also to be anti-icing to avoid any local freezing in hot channel. This research presents the effect of inlet velocity and inlet temperature of hydrogen, and the effect of flow configurations of co/counter-flow on thermal design of PCHE heat exchanger based on various CFD simulation analysis.

  • MEMS devices usually have micro actuators contained in a cavity, If the pressure level of testing chamber is higher than that of cavity, moisture will ingress into the cavity, which may cause critical failure such as stiction of the moving parts. To design an accelerated life test based on high temperature and high humidity, such a phenomena should be considered. In this study, a throughput model that can estimate the amount of moisture ingress is used to decide the testing time and conditions of a high temperature and high humidify test.

  • Recently an automobile industry is concerned about an automobile wiring harness system. It means that development of component modules is on the increase. An importance of the connector in one part of the modules will be enhanced. A connector is made of P.B.T. (Poly Butylene Terephthalate). PBT is resistant to the high temperature. This paper deals with thermal strain of connector. According as temperature increase, effects of the temperature and thermal strains give an analysis of the deformation using ABAQUS. This apparent thermal strain results actually from the variation of temperature. Being based on this analysis, axiomatic design applies to design parameters of the connector. As compared with CAE analysis, a performance improvement makes certain of the truth of the matter.

  • In this paper a prototype of high frequency heating power supply system based on the high frequency heating principle is designed to take the place of acupuncture, moxibustion, warm dressing treatment and some other traditional physical therapy methods. Which possess the advantages of low cost, convenient, easy operation and good effect. The high frequency heating power supply can generate a pulse voltage of more than 1KV with 300KHz switching frequency to heat the patient's skin. The skin temperature can reach to $41{\sim}42^{\circ}C$. The peak current control method is used to maintain the skin temperature in the designed range. The design of the main circuit is based on the flyback converter topology. An easier and practical design method is proposed in this paper. The power supply system prototype is verified to be stable and reliable by both the simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper presents a design methodology of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets. The magnet consists of several double pancake coils with a variety of wire width. This technique, named Multi-Width, is well known to make efficient use of the superconducting wire. It is common for design of high-temperature superconducting magnets to not only reduce wire consumption used, but also consider the homogeneity of the magnetic field. In this paper, we study a design method that efficiently reduces wire usage while considering magnetic field homogeneity. The design is carried out by calculating the critical current and the critical magnetic field according to the configuration of arranging the thickness of the wire to determine the number of windings. The width of wire comprising the magnet was set to 4 - 12 mm, and the number of double pancake coils was set to an even number to consist of top-down symmetry. To verify the validity of the design, we compared the progress of the design code with a complete enumeration survey. As a case study, we designed a magnet that generates a central magnetic field of 3 T or more in a 240 mm bore in diameter. Optimality can be evaluated by weighing wire consumption and field homogeneity according to the magnet's use or user preference.

  • The changes in sound absorption capability and air permeability of Malas wood after high temperature heat treatment were investigated. The average air permeability of Malas in longitudinal direction after heated under the temperature of $190^{\circ}C$ during 3 hours was about 23.48 darcys and that of control was about 3.11 darcys. The noise reduction coefficients of Malas specimens were 17% for treatment and 10% for control. The means of sound absorption coefficient of specimens in the frequency range of 50~6,400 Hz were 42% for treatment and 17% for control, respectively.

  • For the optimal design of plasma facing components of a fusion reactor, thorough understanding of thermal behavior of high heat. nux components are required. The purpose of this research is to investigate the characteristics of heat flow and thermal stress in divertors which are exposed to high heat load varing with time and space-Numerical simulations of heat now and thermal stress for three types of diverter are performed using finite volume method and finite element method. Respectly, commercial FLUENT code are used in the heat flow simulation, and maximum surface temperature, temperature distribution and cooling rate are calculated. Commercial ABQUS code are used for calculating temperature distribution. thermal stress, strain and displacement.   • A high temperature superconducting(HTS) power cable is available for high capacity current in normal condition. But resistance was appeared to operate unbalance load by thermal current characteristic. This characteristic of HTS power cable used to design for unstated condition. And than, It used to understand and analyze characteristic of power cable thermal and critical current. This study appeared that quench resistance reason from shield and former current rise to superconductor(SC) current. The resistance of SC occurred that the cable temperature rise to fault current after decreased critical current. The quench resistance of SC increased in temperature or decreased in critical current. So the quench resistance of SC correlated with resistance of both shield and former current. It need to sufficiently influenced the parameters of HTS cable design.

  • This paper proposes the design considerations of resonant network and transformer magnetics for 500 kHz high switching frequency LLC resonant converter. The high power density can be effectively achieved by adopting high switching frequency which allows small size passive components in the converter. The design methodology of magnetizing inductance is derived for zero voltage switching (ZVS) condition, and the design methodology of the transformer and output capacitance is derived to achieve high power density at high operating frequency. Moreover, the structure of transformer is analyzed to obtain the proper inductance value for high switching operation. To verify the proposed design methodology, simulation and experimental results will be presented including temperature of passive and active components, and power conversion efficiency to evaluate dominant power loss. In addition, the validity of magnetics design will be evaluated with operating waveforms of the prototype converter.

  • A dual loop waste heat recovery system with Rankine steam cycles for the improvement of fuel efficiency of gasoline vehicles has been investigated. A high temperature loop (HT loop) only recovers the heat of the exhaust gas. A low temperature loop (LT loop) recovers the residual heat from the HT loop, the coolant heat and the remaining exhaust gas heat. The two separate loops are coupled with a heat exchanger. This paper has dealt with a layout of the dual loop system, the review of the working fluids, and the design of the cycle. The design point and the target heat recovery of the HT boiler, a core part of a HT loop, have been presented. The prototype of the HT boiler was evaluated by experiment. For the performance evaluation of the HT boiler, inlet temperature of the HT boiler working fluid was set equal to the temperature degree of sub-cool of $5^{\circ}C$ at the condensing pressure. The exit condition was the degree of super-heat set at $5^{\circ}C$. The characteristics of the HT boiler such as heat recovery and pressure drops of fluids were evaluated with varying flow rates and inlet temperatures of exhaust gas under various evaporating pressure conditions.
