  • Five RC piers were tested under a constant axial load and a cyclically reversed horizontal load to investigate the behavior of RC piers used in the high-strength concrete and the high-strength rebars. Seismic design of piers were conducted under the same design, according to the current Korean Bridge Design Standard. The parameters of the test were concrete compressive strength and steel strength, steel ratio. The test results indicated that RC piers of the high-strength concrete and high-strength rebars exhibited ductile behavior and seismic performance.

  • Three Hollow RC piers were tested under a constant axial load and a cyclically reversed horizontal loadto investigate the structural behavior of hollow RC piers using the high strength concrete and the high strength rebars. The test variables include concrete compressive strength, steel strength, and steel ratio. The test results indicate that RC piers using the high strength concrete and high strength rebars exhibit ductile behavior and appropriate seismic performance, in compliance with the design code. The present study allows more realistic application of high strength rebars and concrete to RC piers, which will provide enhanced durability as well as more economy.

  • This study aims to investigate the influence of individual and hybrid fiber on the local bond-slip behavior of medium and high strength concrete after exposure to different high temperatures. Tests were conducted on local pullout specimens (150 mm cubes) with a reinforcing bar embedded in the center section. The embedment lengths in the pullout specimens were three times the bar diameter. The parameters investigated include concrete type (control group: ordinary concrete; experimental group: fiber concrete), concrete strength, fiber type and targeted temperature. The test results showed that the ultimate bond stress in the local bond stress versus slip curve of the high strength fiber reinforced concrete was higher than that of the medium strength fiber reinforced concrete. In addition, the use of hybrid combinations of steel fiber and polypropylene fiber can enhance the residual bond strength ratio of high strength concrete.

  • As this study investigates the influence about type of transverse reinforcement, spacing of transverse reinforcement(s), volumetric ratios of transverse reinforcement(${\rho}s$) of ultra-high strength concrete columns. It try to offer to resonable basic data of the confined model for the ultra-high concrete of in reinforced concrete columns. Experimental tests with large scaled columns were conducted under concentric axial loads. The ultra-high strength concrete (100MPa) was used. From this test result, it evaluate influence of the strength enhancement and ductility enhancement, important variables about behavior of the confined concrete by confinement of ultra-high strength reinforced concrete. There are two ways to improve the confinement effect of high strength concrete columns through the increase of amounts and/or strength of transverse reinforcement.

  • This study is to relate the bond characteristics of CFRP rebar in high strength concrete incorporated with silica fume(SF) and metakaolin(MK). An direct bond test were performed to evaluate the effect of SF and MK on bond properties of high-strength concrete and CFRP rebar. The high strength concrete mix included four SF and MK mixes with 0%, 5%, 10% and 15%. Results of bond performance experiment in relation to pullout vs slip behavior of FRP rebar and high strength showed better performance of SF than MK. Also, the results showed the improved bond strength as replacement ratio of SF and MK increased. The relative bond strength in which $1.3{\sim}3.2$ of estimated values were obtained.

  • In this paper, the properties of high-strength concrete are described with respect to materials and mix conditions(water-cement ratio, chemical admixture, replacement of fly ash). As primary purposes of this study, the optimum mix design method of high-strength concrete to decrease unit cement contents is investigated, and the properties of fresh and hardened concretes are tested in terms of slump, air content and compressive strength. As results of this study, workability and strength development of the high-strength concrete depend on the water-cement ratio, replacement ratio of fly ash and dosage of the chemical admixture. The conditions which are proposed optimum mix design of the high-strength concrete show W/C 37%, S/A 42~45% and unit cement content 470~480kg/$\textrm{m}^3$. Based on the results, the applicability of high-strength concrete in site is clearly proved.

  • Lately, the high-strength concrete is often used to increase the lifespan of bridges. The benefits of using the high-strength concrete are that it increases the durability and strength. On the contrary, it reduces the cross-section of the bridges. This study conducted structural performance tests of the bridge deck slabs applying high-strength concrete. As result of the tests, specimens of bridge deck slabs were destroyed through punching shear. Moreover, the tests exposed that the high-strength concrete bridge deck slabs satisfy the flexural strength and the punching shear strength at ultimate limit state(ULS). Also, limiting deflection of the concrete fulfilled serviceability limit state(SLS) criteria. These results indicated that the bridge deck slabs designed by high-strength concrete were enough to secure the safety factor despite of its low thickness.

  • In this paper, to make ultra-high strength SFRCC with the range of compressive strength 180MPa, it was investigated the constitute factors of ultra-high strength SFRCC influenced on the compressive strength. The experimental variables were water-cementitious ratio, replacement of silica fume, size and proportion of sand, type and replacement of filling powder, and using of steel fiber in ultra-high strength SFRCC. As a result, in water-binder ratio 0.18, we could make ultra-high strength SFRCC with compressive strength 180MPa through using of silica fume, quartz sand with below 0.5mm, filling powder and steel fiber.

  • This study presents the effect of incorporating metakaolin (MK) on the mechanical and durability properties of high strength concrete for a constant water/binder ratio of 0.3.MK mixtures with cement replacement of 5, 10 and 15 % were designed for target strength and slump of 90 MPa and $100{\pm}25mm$. From the results, it was observed that 10 % replacement level was the optimum level in terms of compressive strength. Beyond 10 %replacement levels, the strength was decreased but remained higher than the control mixture. Compressive strength of 106 MPa was achieved at 10 % replacement. Splitting tensile strength and elastic modulus values have also followed the same trend. In durability tests MK concretes have exhibited high resistance compared to control and the resistance increases as the MK percentage increases. This investigation has shown that the local MK has the potential to produce high strength and high performance concretes.

  • In this research, the characteristics of the strength development and chloride attack resistance on the concrete using high early strength cement by steam curing temperature condition were studied. As a result, It is observed that the early strength(16hr) is increasing and the strength of 28 days is decreasing, according as the rising of the steam curing temperature without the kinds of base cement(OPC and high early strength cement). On the other hand, it is observed that the more the contents of the unit binder(base cement + GGBF) is abundant, the more the steam curing temperature can be reduced in case of the high early strength. Also, the chloride attack resistance is improved according as the amount of GGBF is increased with the kinds of base cement(OPC and high early strength cement).
