With the development of IT Info-Communications technology, the vehicle with a combination of wireless-communication technology has resulted in significant research into the convergence of the component of existing traffic with information, electronics and communication technology. Intelligent Vehicle Communication is a Machine-to-Machine (M2M) concept of the Vehicle-to-Vehicle. The Vehicle-to-Infrastructure communication consists of safety and the ease of transportation. Security technologies must precede the effective Intelligent Vehicle Communication Structure, unlike the existing internet environment, where high-speed vehicle communication is with the security threats of a wireless communication environment and can receive unusual vehicle messages. In this paper, the Vehicle Identification number between the V2I and the secure message communication protocol was proposed using hash functions and a time stamp, and the validity of the vehicle was assessed. The proposed system was the performance evaluation section compared to the conventional technique at a rate VPKI aspect showed an approximate 44% reduction. The safety, including authentication, confidentiality, and privacy threats, were analyzed.

The cables in cable-stayed bridges are under high stress and are very sensitive to vibration due to their small section areas compared with other members. Therefore, it is reasonable to evaluate the cable impact factor by taking into account the dynamic effect due to moving-vehicle motion. In this study, the cable impact factors were evaluated via moving-vehicle-load analysis, considering the design parameters, i.e., vehicle weight, cable model, road surface roughness, vehicle speed, longitudinal distance between vehicles. For this purpose, two steel composite cable-stayed bridges with 230- and 540-m main spans were selected. The results of the analysis were then compared with those of the influence line method that is currently being used in design practice. The road surface roughness was randomly generated based on ISO 8608, and the convergence of impact factors according to the number of generated road surfaces was evaluated to improve the reliability of the results. A9-d.o.f. tractor-trailer vehicle was used, and the vehicle motion was derived from Lagrange's equation. 3D finite element models for the selected cable-stayed bridges were constructed with truss elements having equivalent moduli for the cables, and with beam elements for the girders and the pylons. The direct integration method was used for the analysis of the bridge-vehicle interaction, and the analysis was conducted iteratively until the displacement error rate of the bridge was within the specified tolerance. It was acknowledged that the influence line method, which cannot consider the dynamic effect due to moving-vehicle motion, could underestimate the impact factors of the end-cables at the side spans, unlike moving-vehicle-load analysis.
PURPOSES : The purpose of this article is to investigate the predicted life of jointed concrete pavement (JCP) with two variables effecting on axle load spectra (ALS). The first variable is different data acquisition methods whether using high-speed weigh-in-motion (HS-WIM) or not and the other one is spectra distribution due to overweight enforcement on main-lane of expressway using HS-WIM. METHODS : Three sets of ALS had been collected i) ALS provided by Korea Pavement Research Program (KPRP), which had been obtained without using HS-WIM ii) ALS collected by HS-WIM before the enforcement at Kimcheon and Seonsan site iii) ALS collected after the enforcement at the same sites. And all ALS had been classified into twelve vehicle classes and four axle types to compare each other. Among the vehicle classes, class 6, 7, 10 and 12 were selected as the major target for comparing each ALS because these were considered as the primary trucks with a high rate of overweight loading. In order to analyze the performance of JCP based on pavement life, fatigue crack and International Roughness Index (IRI) were predicted using road pavement design program developed by KPRP and each ALS with same annual average daily traffic (AADT) was applied to design slab thickness. RESULTS : Comparison ALS of KPRP with those of HS-WIM shows that the ALS of KPRP has a low percentage of heavy spectra such as 6~9 tonnes for single axle, 18~21 tonnes for tandem axle and 27~30 tonnes for tridem axle than other two ALS of HS-WIM in most vehicle classes and axle types. It means that ALS of KPRP was underestimated. And after the enforcement, percentage of heavy spectra close to 10 tonnes per an axle are lowered than before the enforcement by the effect of overweight enforcement because the spectra are related to overweight regulation. Prediction results of pavement life for each ALS present that the ALS of HS-WIM collected before the enforcement makes the pavement life short more than others. On the other hand, the ALS of KPRP causes the longest life under same thickness of slab. Thus, it is possible that actual performance life of JCP under the traffic like ALS of HS-WIM could be short than predicted life if the pavement was designed based on ALS provided by KPRP. CONCLUSIONS : It is necessary to choose more reliable and practical ALS when designing JCP because ALS can be fairly affected by acquisition methods. In addition, it is important to extend performance life of the pavement in service by controlling traffic load such as overweight enforcement.

To cope with automobile exhaust gas regulations, ISG (Idling Stop & Go) and charging control systems are applied to HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) for the purpose of improving fuel economy. These systems require quick charge/discharge performance at high current. To satisfy this characteristic, improvement of the positive electrode plate is studied to improve the charge/discharge process and performance of AGM(Absorbent Glass Mat) lead-acid batteries applied to ISG automotive systems. The bonding between grid and A.M (Active Material) can be improved by applying the Sand-Blasting method to provide roughness to the surface of the positive grid. When the Sand-Blasting method is applied with conditions of ball speed 1,000 rpm and conveyor speed 5 M/min, ideal bonding is achieved between grid and A.M. The positive plate of each condition is applied to the AGM LAB (Absorbent Glass Mat Lead Acid Battery); then, the performance and ISG life characteristics are tested by the vehicle battery test method. In CCA, which evaluates the starting performance at -18 ℃ and 30 ℃ with high current, the advanced AGM LAB improves about 25 %. At 0 ℃ CA (Charge Acceptance), the initial charging current of the advanced AGM LAB increases about 25 %. Improving the bonding between the grid and A.M. by roughening the grid surface improves the flow of current and lowers the resistance, which is considered to have a significant effect on the high current charging/discharging area. In a Standard of Battery Association of Japan (SBA) S0101 test, after 300 A discharge, the voltage of the advanced AGM LAB with the Sand-Blasting method grid was 0.059 V higher than that of untreated grid. As the cycle progresses, the gap widens to 0.13 V at the point of 10,800 cycles. As the bonding between grid and A.M. increases through the Sand Blasting method, the slope of the discharge voltage declines gradually as the cycle progresses, showing excellent battery life characteristics. It is believed that system will exhibit excellent characteristics in the vehicle environment of the ISG system, in which charge/discharge occurs over a short time.
Societal interest on a faster transportation demands an increase of the train speed exceeding current operation speed of 350 km/h. To trace the pattern of variations in displacements and subsoil stresses in the concrete slab track system, finite element simulations were conducted. For a simple track-vehicle modeling, a mass-point system representing the moving train load was developed. Dynamic responses with various train speeds from 100 to 700 km/h were investigated. As train speeds increase the displacement at rail and subsoil increases nonlinearly, whereas significant dynamic amplification at the critical velocity has not been found. At low train speed, the velocity of elastic wave carrying elastic energy is faster than the train speed. At high train speed exceeding 400 km/h, however, the train speed is approximately identical to the elastic wave velocity. Nonlinearity in the stress history in subsoil is amplified with increasing train speeds, which may cause significant plastic strains in path-dependent subsoil materials.
Speeding has been reported as one of the major causes for fatal traffic accidents in Korea. The resolution against this dangerous speeding comes to make the automated speed enforcement system an enforcement tool. The speed detection device, which measures speeds of each incoming vehicles using double loop sensors, requires high accuracy. The object of this study is to develop an accurate speed measurement algorithm using double loop detectors. Some important findings are summarized as follows: 1) It was found that speed measurement errors are caused by scanning rate, distance of two loops, irregular vehicle trajectories, multiple vehicles in detection zone. 2) A proposed algorithm using two signal set proved to reduce variance as well as mean of speed measurement. 3) A proposed filtering algorithm was effective to filter irregular driving vehicles and multiple vehicles in detection zone. A comprehensive field test of developed algorithm resulted in significant improvement of speed measurement accuracy.

A centrifugal turbo blower of the fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) operates at very high speed above 30000 rpm in order to increase the pressure of the air, which supplied to a stack of FCEV, using rotation of its impeller blades. Vibration which originated from the blower is generated by unbalance of mechanical components, rotation of bearings and rotating asymmetry that rotate at high speed. The vibration is transmitted to receiving structure through vibration isolators and it can causes serious problems in the noise, vibration and harshness(NVH) performance. Thus, the study about reducing this kind of vibration is an important task. In this paper, dynamic analysis of the blower executed by numerical simulation and experimental analysis of the blower is also performed. Then, measured and simulated results are compared in order to validate of the simulation. Finally, reducing vibration through modifying mount stiffness is the main purpose of this paper.

The application of aluminium alloy is increasing for lightweight and high quality transport vehicle. In this study, therefore, it is intended to apply the high speed hybrid welding method for marine grade aluminium alloy(A5083) used for shipbuilding that consists of 3 kW CW Nd:YAG laser and MIG welding process. For this purpose, the characteristics of process parameters(laser & arc combine angle and focal position of hybrid head to specimen) are investigated for hybrid fillet joint. This study also describes determination of heat distribution using finite element model of the T-joint fillet weld using the in-house solver which has been validated for different type of welding problems.
After constructing the high-speed railroad, KORAIL acquired advanced maintenance techniques about Rolling-stocks. Also RCM theory is applied to maintenance field like as inspection period and method. In the meantime, the development of the maintenance methode for Rolling-stock is slow when it compares to the components and system technology. For this reason KORAIL tries to build the optimal maintenance system which can lead the Rolling-stock maintenance technique. The existing vehicle except High Speed train KTX are separated to electric motor car, electric locomotive, diesel locomotive, diesel car, passenger car and freight car. The inspection period and methode for existing vehicles which mentioned above will be examined and the optimal Rolling-stock maintenance technique will be applied.

Rail-pad is an important and readily replaceable component of a railway track, as it is the elastic layer between the rail and the sleeper. Characteristics and useful lifetime prediction of rail-pad was very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability. In this paper, the degradation of rail pad properties as a function of their in-service life is studied with a view of developing a technique for predicting the optimum period of track maintenance with regard to pad replacement. In order to investigate the useful lifetime, the accelerate test were carried out. Accelerated test results changes as the threshold are used for assessment of the useful life and time to threshold value were plotted against reciprocal of absolute temperature to give the Arrhenius plot. By using the acceleration test, several useful lifetime prediction for rail-pads were proposed.
