Effects of Secondary Tasks on Relative Change of Skin Conductance Level and Ability to Maintain Following Distance and Vehicle Velocity during Driving of Experienced Taxi Drivers (운전 중 동시과제 수행이 택시운전자의 차간거리 및 속도유지 능력과 피부전도도 변화율에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the secondary tasks such as sending text message (STM) and searching navigation (SN) on skin conductance level (SCL) and driving performance of relatively aged and high-experienced drivers. The subjects included 26 taxi drivers; 12 males aged $56.3{\pm}4.4$ with $28.4{\pm}6.4$ years of driving experiences and 14 females aged $55.5{\pm}3.5$ with $19.4{\pm}5.0$ years of driving experiences. All subjects were instructed to keep a constant following distance (30m) from the car ahead and a given vehicle speed (80km/h or 100km/h) in a driving simulator. The relative change of SCL, vehicle velocity deviations, and average following distances were measured during driving only and driving with secondary tasks. The relative change of SCL, average following distance, and vehicle velocity deviation were more increased during the driving with secondary tasks than driving only. The relative change of SCL, vehicle velocity deviation, and average following distance were more affected by driving with 100km/hr than 80km/hr of a given vehicle speed. Secondary tasks increased a work load of drivers in term of SCL change, and decreased driving performance in terms of the vehicle velocity deviation and average following distance.

  • The republic of korea has put a great emphasis on the role of the road as widening a social infra-structural facility. Thus, vast amount of money has been invested on the road establishment. As a result, there has been fruitful outcomes in establishing the road system of the nation especially for the flat road with ease. However, in order to have more systematic and sustainable road system, we should turn our attention to more painful and high-cost regions such as mountainous districts and those are to be developed effectively. The configuration of the road is an important factor to be considered in making a decision for the road planning. Nevertheless, current road planning criterion has no such clarified and objective judging standard for figuring the configuration of the road out and, as a result, speed planning can be decided incorrectly. our research has acknowledged the necessity of estimating the configuration of the road and aimed to make it organized and sorted according to the height, slope, and the vehicle's speed. The results are as follows. First, our research made use of GIS data and classified the road into 9 different areas according to the height and the slope. Also, road classification being matched to the data of vehicle's speed, it has been shown that those characteristics of different areas have made an influence on vehicle's speed. Secondly, based on the results of the similarity between geographical classification and, vehicle's speed of sorted groups according to the height and the slope, conclusively we have classified as flat, rolling region and mountain. Since our research has made use of vehicle's speed for National Highway, it is not applicable to different functional highways. However, for the highway to be established hereafter, it can be a standard for reflection geographical characteristics.

  • 본 논문은 철도차량이 주행하는 선로에 존재하는 수많은 곡선과 경사, 속도 제한 조건 때문에 열차성능해석 계산시 열차의 견인, 제동 특성이 비선형이기 때문에 해석적인 방법으로 해를 구하는데 어려움이 많은 경제운전 문제를 운행 시간 여유분을 고려하여 에너지 소비를 최소화하는 운전 모형을 제시한다. 경제운전모형을 한국형 고속열차에 적용하여 그 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • This paper presents a fundanental method to analyze and design a Single-sided Linear Induction Motor(SLIM) as a propulsion system for magnetic levitation vehicles of DAEJEON EXPO'93 in Korea. The performance characteristics of the designed SLIM are examinated by the thrust force, the normal force, the efficiency and the power factor according to the change of input frequency. The dimension of the SLIM is 1792mm long ${\times}$ 200mm width ${\times}$ 58mm high and the rated thrust is 1300 Newtons at the operating speed of 40 Km/h.

  • This paper present a sensor based obstacle avoidance method which is based on a VFH(Vector Field Histogram) method. The basic idea of obstacle avoidance is to find a minimum obstacle direction and distance. From the minimum sonar index and the target direction high level system determine steering angle of mobile robot. The sonar sensor system consists of 12 ultra sonic sensor, and each sensor have its direction and safety value. This method has advantage on calculation speed and small memory. This method is implemented on indoor autonomous vehicle'ALiVE-2'.

  • This paper presents a driving method of 3-phase 4-poles SRM(switched reluctance motor) drived by switching angle control. In this study, the switching angle is determined from approximated analysis and computer simulation by using MATLAB for high efficiency according to the speed and torque required by load, and then microcontroller controls the switching angle of asymmetrical inverter in SRM driver. Also, we experiment the maximum forque driving and maximum power driving by controlling switching angle available to electric vehicle.

  • The aluminum extruded sections are used to the light construction of the high speed rail vehicle structures. However, the research works on the crashworthy design of aluminum extruded sections are not published sufficiently. In this paper, the collapse characteristics of aluminum extruded sections are investigated by crush test and simulation. The scale model studies are also performed to predict the impact energy absorption characteristics of full scale model through axial crush test and simulation.
