This paper is concerned with spring back after sheet forming of bulk amorphous alloys in the super cooled liquid state. The temperature-dependence and strain-rate dependence of Newtonian/non-Newtonian viscosities as well as the stress overshoot/undershoot behavior of amorphous alloys are reflected in the thermo-mechanical Finite Element simulations. Hemispherical deep drawing operations are simulated for various forming conditions such as punch velocity, die comer radius, friction, blank holder force, clearance and initial funning temperature. Here, spring back by an instantaneous elastic unloading was followed by thermal deformation during cooling, and two modes of spring back are examined in detail. It could be concluded that the superior sheet formability of an amorphous alloy can be obtained by taking the proper forming conditions for loading/unloading.

Electromagnetic Forming (EMF) technology such as magnetic pulse forming, which is one of the high velocity forming methods, has been used for the joining and forming process in various industry fields. This method could be derived a series of deformation of sheet metal by using a strong magnetic field. In this study, numerical approach by finite element simulation of the electromagnetic forming process was presented. A transient electromagnetic finite element code was used to obtain the numerical model of the time-varying currents that are discharged through the coil in order to obtain the transient magnetic forces. Also, the body forces generated in electromagnetic field were used as the loading condition to analyze deformation of thin sheet metal workpiece using explicit dynamic finite element code. In this study, after finite element analysis for thin sheet metal forming process with free surface configuration was performed, analytical approach for a dimpled shape by using EMF was carried out. Furthermore, the simulated results of the dimpled shape by EMF were compared with that by a conventional solid tool in view of the deformed shape. From the results of finite element analysis, it is confirmed that the EMF process could be applied to thin sheet metal forming.
Most of auto-body members are composed of stamping parts. These parts have the non-uniform thickness and plastic work hardening distribution during the forming process. This paper is concerned with the side impact analysis of the ULSAB-AVC model according to the US-SINCAP in order to compare the crashworthiness between the model with and without considering the forming effect. The forming effect is ca]ciliated by one-step forming analysis for several members. The crashworthiness is investigated by comparing the deformed shape of the cabin room the energy absorption characteristics and the intrusion velocity of a car. The result of the crash analysis demonstrates that the crash mode, the load-carrying capacity and energy absorption can be affected by the forming effect. It is noted that the design of an autobody should be carried out considering the forming effect for accurate assessment of crashworthiness.
Recently, industries and academic institutes have been interested in the rheology forming technology for light weight materials. However, this rheocasting process has advantages such as the high initial investment cost and the lower mechanical properties than thixocasting. In this study, the continuous fabrication of rheological material with a spiral stirring equipment(mechanical stirring system) was newly devised to overcome the disadvantages of rheocasting process. The experimental parameters were stirring time($0{\sim}1200sec$), stirring velocity ($0{\sim}100rpm$) and stirring temperature($650{\sim}680^{\circ}C$). The optimal conditions for fabricated rheological material of A6061 alloy were stirring time at 300sec, stirring velocity at 60rpm and stirring temperature at $650^{\circ}C$. At these results, the equivalent diameter was $45{\sim}65{\mu}m$, mean roundness was $1.4{\sim}1.6$ and Vickers hardness was 60Hv.

Recently, there has been a trend in the manufacturing process to focus on the durability of cable lug joint, especially in welding process due to the poor cable lug joint causes many troubles on products and workers during manufacturing process. Therefore development of high quality cable lug joint is important for successful manufacturing process and safety of worker. The Magnetic Pulse Forming(MPF) is one of efficient way to developed a high quality cable lug joint. In MPF, a high strain rate forming process, utilizes a high velocity oblique collision on the workpiece to be formed in required shape. The objective of this paper is to develop of high quality cable lug joint using electromagnetic force. To successfully accomplish this goal, section and electrical contact temperature of developed cable lug joint has been compared with various cable lug joint. Electrical contact temperature of developed cable lug joint by electromagnetic force is lower than manufactured cable lug joint by pressurer and hydraulic pressurer.

We present results of the velocity-resolved spectroscopy of the [Fe II] $\lambda$1.644${\mu}m$ emission toward outflow sources with the Subaru Telescope at the angular resolution of 0.apos;16 ${\~}$ 0.apos;5 arcseconds. The observed sources are L1551 IRS 5, DG Tau, HL Tau and RW Aur, which are located in the Taurus-Aurigae Molecular Cloud, one of the closest star forming regions (0.apos;1 = 14 AU). We were able to resolve outflow structure in the vicinity of the sources at a scale of a few tens of AU. The position-velocity diagram of each object shows two velocity components: the high velocity component (HVC: 200 - 400 km $s^{-l}$) and the low velocity component (LVC: 50 - 150 km $s^{-l}$), which are clearly distinct in space and velocity. The HVC may be a highly collimated jet presumed from its narrow velocity width and high velocity. The LVC, on the other hand, may be a widely opened disk wind inferred from its broad velocity width and low velocity. The spectrum taken perpendicular to the L1551 IRS 5 outflow at its base shows that the LVC has a spatially wide subcomponent, supporting the above interpretation. We demonstrated that the [Fe II] 1.644 $\mu$ spectroscopy is a very powerful tool for the studies of fast jets and winds that directly emanate from star-disk systems.

The characteristics of the tool system give many effects into the costs and qualities for the finished components. This study proposes a new method for manufacturing of high manufacturing productivity, production process reduction and low cost through back pressure forming. The Lock-up hub is manufactured through many processes, such as upsetting($1^{st}$ Forming), piercing, direct extrusion($2^{nd}$ Forming), final sizing process($3^{rd}$ Forming). In this study, process design for closed-die forging of a Lock-up hub used for a component of automobile transmission was made using three-dimensional finite element simulations, and the strain distributions and velocity distributions are investigated through the post processor. The rigid-plastic finite-element method for back pressure forging has been used in order to reduce development time and die cost. Using the FEM simulation, we found the optimum value of back pressure. The prototypes of Lock-up hub parts were forged into the net-shape. In the experiment, lead precision of tooth are measured by the CCMM(Contact Coordinate Measuring Machine). The dimensional accuracy of forged part was improved up to the 40% when back press was applied.

The Strain rate effect in electro-magnetic forming, which is one of the high velocity forming methods, is studied by the finite element method in this paper. The forming process is simplified by neglecting the coupling between magnetic field and work-piece deformation, and the impulsive magnetic pressure is regarded as inner pressure load. A rate-dependent elasto-plastic material model, of which tangential modulus depends of effective strain rate, is proposed. The model is shown to well describe the transient increase of yield stresses, the decreases of the final displacement and yield stress, the decrease of the difference in the distribution of deformation along the axial direction, and the change of deformation mechanism due to strain rate effect. As a result, displacement, final deformed shape, radial velocity, deformation energy, and the changes of effective stress, effective strain and effective strain rate through plastic working are given. Based on the results, the effectiveness of this model and the strain rate effect of the deformation process of the work-piece are discussed.

For the product with small diameter, long column, and parabolic shape, the forging formability of the high-carbon steel wire rod was investigated in this study. By using the three-dimensional finite element method, the formability of wire was reviewed by forming analysis for the desired parabolic shape of local part. Analysis results due to forging direction, forging velocity, friction coefficient and constraint location were also investigated. On the basis of these results, it is noted that the forging direction has the big influence when the product with long column is forged. As the forging velocity increases, buckling tends to be limited and formability of parabolic shape is improved. By constraining the lower parabolic shape part to suppress plastic strain, the effect depending on friction coefficient is not almost appeared. And good parabolic shape is obtained at the region of the forging velocity of more than 0.5 m/s.
