To produce adequate electricity in nuclear and thermal power plants, an optimal amount of steam should be supplied to a generator connected to high- and low-pressure steam turbines. A turbine output control device, which is a special steam valve employed to supply or interrupt the steam to the turbine, is operated using a hydraulic servo actuator. In power plants, the performance of servo actuators is degraded by the air generated from the hydraulic system, or causes frequent failures owing to an increase in the wear of the seal. This is due to the seal being burnt as generated heat using the produced compressed air. Some power plants have exhausted air using a fixed orifice, and thus they encounter power loss due to mass flow exhaust. Failures are generated in hydraulic pumps, electric motors, and valves, which are frequently operated. In this study, we perform modeling and analysis of the load-sensing air-exhaust valves, which can be passed through very fine flow under normal use conditions, and exhaust mass flow air at the beginning stage as with existing fixed orifices. Then, we propose a method to prevent failures due to the compressed air, and to ensure the control accuracy of hydraulic servo actuators.

The development of dry etching process for sapphire wafer with plasma has been key issues for the opto-electric devices. The challenges are increasing control and obtaining low plasma induced-damage because an unwanted scattering of radiation is caused by the spatial disorder of pattern and variation of surface roughness. The plasma-induced damages during plasma etching process can be classified as impurity contamination of residual etch products or bonding disruption in lattice due to charged particle bombardment. Therefor, fine pattern technology with low damaged etching process and high etch rate are urgently needed. Until now, there are a lot of reports on the etching of sapphire wafer with using $Cl_2$/Ar, $BCl_3$/Ar, HBr/Ar and so on [1]. However, the etch behavior of sapphire wafer have investigated with variation of only one parameter while other parameters are fixed. In this study, we investigated the effect of pressure and other parameters on the etch rate and the selectivity. We selected $BCl_3$ as an etch ant because $BCl_3$ plasmas are widely used in etching process of oxide materials. In plasma, the $BCl_3$ molecule can be dissociated into B radical, $B^+$ ion, Cl radical and $Cl^+$ ion. However, the $BCl_3$ molecule can be dissociated into B radical or $B^+$ ion easier than Cl radical or $Cl^+$ ion. First, we evaluated the etch behaviors of sapphire wafer in $BCl_3$/additive gases (Ar, $N_2,Cl_2$) gases. The behavior of etch rate of sapphire substrate was monitored as a function of additive gas ratio to $BCl_3$ based plasma, total flow rate, r.f. power, d.c. bias under different pressures of 5 mTorr, 10 mTorr, 20 mTorr and 30 mTorr. The etch rates of sapphire wafer, $SiO_2$ and PR were measured with using alpha step surface profiler. In order to understand the changes of radicals, volume density of Cl, B radical and BCl molecule were investigated with optical emission spectroscopy (OES). The chemical states of $Al_2O_3$ thin films were studied with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and depth profile anlysis of auger electron spectroscopy (AES). The enhancement of sapphire substrate can be explained by the reactive ion etching mechanism with the competition of the formation of volatile $AlCl_3$, $Al_2Cl_6$ or $BOCl_3$ and the sputter effect by energetic ions.
Hollow-fiber membranes, is one of the new technologies that is growing rapidly in the past few decades. In addition, separation membranes using polymer materials, have attracted attentions in various fields including gas separation, fuel cells, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and organic separation. Nanofiltration (NF) membranes having the separation characteristics in the intermediate range between ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes for liquid separation, with relatively low investment cost and operating pressure lower than that of RO membranes, have high permeance and rejection performance of multivalent ions as well as organic compounds of molecular weight between $200{\sim}1000gmol^{-1}$. In this paper, we would like to review the research trends on the various structure control and characterization of NF hollow fiber membranes with respect to materials and the methods of preparation (phase inversion method and interfacial polymerization method). Currently, most of NF membranes have been manufactured by plate and frame types or spiral wound types. But hollow fiber types have delayed in commercial products, because of the weak strength when to produce on the basis of the existing materials, therefore the development of new materials or improvement of existing materials will be needed. If improving manufacturing technology is available, hollow fiber types will replace spiral wound types and gradually show a higher market share.
Pine twigs with buds were cut into $2{\sim}3\;mm$ long pieces and about 18g was used for each experiment. Pressure and temperature ranges employed were $100{\sim}300\;bar$ and $35{\sim}55^{\circ}C$, respectively. Volatile compounds of extracts were isolated and identified by gas chromatography and mass selective detector. Twenty three compounds from the extracts were identified. Limonene and ${\beta}-pinene$ were found to be the major components with $32.6{\sim}43.4%$ being limonene. Extracts obtained by supercritical fluid extraction were lower in monoterpene and higher in oxygenated terpenoids than those by steam distillation and solvent extraction (SDE). Sensory evaluation showed that the pine flavor extracted using supercritical carbon dioxide was much better in quality than that of SDE. In conclusion, it was found out that supercritical fluid extraction can successfully be applied to extract high quality flavor from pine.

The diamond films which can be applied to SOD (silicon-on-diamond) structure were deposited on Si(100) substrate using CO/H2 CH4/H2 source gases by microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition(MPCVD), and SOD structure have been fabricated by poly-silicon film deposited on the diamond/Si(100) structure y low pressure chemical vapor deposition(LPCVD). The phase of the diamond film, surface morpholog, and diamond/Si(100) interface were confirmed by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), atomic force microscopy(AFM), and Raman spectroscopy. The dielectric constant, leakage current and resistivity as a function of temperature in films are investigated by C-V and I-V characteristics and four-point probe method. The high quality diamond films without amorphous carbon and non-diamond elements were formed on a Si(100), which could be obtained by CO/H2 and CH4/H2 concentration ratio of 15.3% and 1.5%, respectively. The (111) plane of diamond films was preferentially grown on the Si(100) substrate. The grain size of the films deposited by CO/H2 are gradually increased from 26nm to 36 nm as deposition times increased. The well developed cubo-octahedron 100 structure nd triangle shape 111 are mixed together and make smooth and even film surface. The surface roughness of the diamond films deposited by under the condition of CO/H2 and CH4/H2 concentration ratio of 15.3% and 1.5% were 1.86nm and 3.7 nm, respectively, and the diamond/Si(100) interface was uniform resistivity of the films deposited by CO/H2 concentration ratio of 15.3% are obtained 5.3, 1$\times$10-9 A/cm, 1 MV/cm2, and 7.2$\times$106 $\Omega$cm, respectively. In the case of the films deposited by CH4/H2 resistivity are 5.8, 1$\times$10-9 A/cm, 1 MV/cm, and 8.5$\times$106 $\Omega$cm, respectively. In this study, it is known that the diamond films deposited by using CO/H2 gas mixture as a carbon source are better thane these of CH4/H2 one.

The efficiency of six different extraction methods for the analysis of aroma components from pine needle(P. densiflora) was compared by gas chromatography-mass selective detector(GC-MSD). The six methods were dynamic headspace(DHS), reduced pressure headspace(RPHS), solid-phase microextraction(SPME), simultaneous distillation-extraction(SDE), supercritical fluid extraction(SFE) and pyrolysis distillation extraction(PDE). A total of 65 compounds were identified by using the six different extraction methods. These compounds are classified into six categories in terms of chemical functionality: 25 hydrocarbons, 16 alcohols, 9 carbonyls, 6 esters, 7 acids, and 2 ethers. The aroma compounds having low boiling point were more abundant in DHS, RPHS, and SPME extracts. On the other hand, the aroma compounds having high boiling point were more abundants in SDE, SFE and PDE extracts. The acid compounds were extracted by heat-based extraction methods such as SDE, SFE, PDE, but not by DHS, RPHS and SPME, which used neither solvent nor heat. The oxygenated terpens, hexanal, hexanol, and hexadienal were more abundant in DHS and RPHS extracts, compared with the other methods.
Bromotrifluoromethane(halon-1301) and bromochlorodifluoromethane(halon-1211) have been widely used as a clean fire extinguishing agents due to their outstanding properties. However, production and use of halon are currently being phased out under an international agreements Montreal Protocol because of global environmental concerns and HFCs have been considered as promising alter-natives for the replacement of halon since their ozone depletion potentials are low. The vapor-liquid equilibrium data are required as important basic information in evaluating the solubility of clean fire extinguishing agents and determining their optimal compositions. In this work, we chose HFCs such as HFC-22 HFC-125, and HFC-l34a for gaseous fire extinguishing agents and nitrogen as a pressurization gas for a proper jet velocity of these agents. Phase equilibria for binary mixtures of nitrogen/HFC-22, nitrogen/HFC-125, and nitrogen/HFC-l34a were measured in the temperature range from 283.15K to 303.15K. For equilibrium measurement, we used a circulation type apparatus in which both vapor and liquid phases were continuously recirculated. The experimental data were relatively well correlated with the Peng-Robinson equation of state with Wong-Sandier mixing rules.

When air discharged from a radioisotope production facility is contaminated with radiation, the public may be exposed to radiation. The objective of this study is to manage such radiation exposure. We measured the airborne radioactivity concentration at a 30 MeV cyclotron radioisotope production facility to assess whether the exhaust gas was contaminated. Additionally, we investigted the radioactive contamination of the air filter for efficient air purification and radiation safety control. To measure the airborne radiation concentration, specimens were collected weekly for 4 h after the beginning of the radioisotope production. Regarding the air purifier, five specimens were collected at different positions of each filter-pre-filter, high-efficiency particulate air filter, and charcoal filter-installed in the cyclotron production room. The concentrations of F-18, I-123, I-131, and Tl-201 generated in the radioiodine production room were $13.5Bq/m^3$, $27.0Bq/m^3$, $0.10Bq/m^3$, and $11.5Bq/m^3$, respectively; the concentrations of F-18, I-123, and I-131 produced in the radioisotope production room were $0.05Bq/m^3$, $16.1Bq/m^3$, and $0.45Bq/m^3$, correspondingly; and those of F-18, I-123, I-131, and Tl-201 generated in the accelerator room were $2.07Bq/m^3$, $53.0Bq/m^3$, $0.37Bq/m^3$, and $0.15Bq/m^3$, respectively. The maximum radiation concentration of I-123 generated in the radioiodine production room was 1,820 Bq/g, which can be disposed after 2 days. The maximum radiation concentration of Tl-202 generated in the radioisotope production room was 205 Bq/g, and this isotope must be stored for 53 days. The I-123 generated in the radioiodine production room had a maximum concentration of 1,530 Bq/g and must be stored for 2 days. The maximum radiation concentration of Na-22 generated in the radioisotope production room was 0.18 Bq/g and this isotope must be disposed after 827 days. To manage the exhaust, the efficiency of air purification must be enhanced by selecting an air purifier with a long life and determining the appropriate replacement time by examining the differential pressure through systematic measurements of the airborne radiation contamination level.
The geology of Sepola district in Mali is consisted of Birrimian group with metasedimentary rocks of lower Proterozoic and volcanoclastics, and later intrusive igneous rocks. Ore diposit in this district has the characteristics of vein- and disseminated-type gold deposit which was formed by infilling the secondary fracture zones related to the large-scale fault zone of NW direction within Birrimian group. It is confirmed as promising that Barani district has the gold grade of 0.53${\sim}$9.21 g/t with the extension of 1.3 km and width of 1 to 20.1 m. The ore mineralogy is simple with electrum, pyrite and galena. Fineness of gold grain ranges from 848 to 915(average 891) indicating mesothermal to hypothermal environment. Fluid inclusions are classified as liquid-rich type I. gas-rich type II and liquid-$CO_2$ bearing type III. Primary and pseudosecondary inclusions homogenize from 236 to 393$^{\circ}C$ with salinity of 0.0 to 8.6 wt% NaCl. Secondary inclusions homogenize from 103 to 184$^{\circ}C$ with salinity of 0.7 to 8.6 wt.%. From the relationship between homogeniztion temperature and salinity, it may be thought that auriferous fluid experienced dilution and cooling through inflow of meteoric water after fluid unmixing derived from pressure decrease in the temperature range of 400 to 250$^{\circ}C$. From the massive occurrence of quartz vein, simple mineralogy with paucity of sulfide, and presence of liquid-$CO_2$ bearing with high homogenization temperature, it is thought that gold mineralization in Sepola district correspods to the mesothermal to hypothermal ore deposit.
Purpose: The KOTRON-13 cyclotron was developed in South Korea and was introduced to regional cyclotron centers to produce short-lifetime medical radioisotopes. However, this cyclotron has limited capacity to produce carbon-11 isotope so far. We herein study how to develop and optimize an effective carbon-11 target system in the KOTRON-13 cyclotron by changing cooling system, combing with fluorine-18 target and evaluating beam currents. Materials and Method: To develop the optimal carbon-11 target and an effective cooling system, we designed the carbon-11 target system by Stopping and Range of Ions in Matter (SRIM) simulation program and considered the cavity pressure during irradiation at target grid. In this investigation, we evaluated the yield of carbon-11 production at different beam currents and the stability of the operation of the KOTRON-13 cyclotron. Results: The production of carbon-11 was enhanced from about 1.700 mCi ($50{\mu}A$) to 2,000 mCi ($60{\mu}A$) on the carbon-11 target which developed by seoul national university bundang hospital (SNUBH) and Samyoung Unitech. Additionally, the cooling condition was showed stable to produce carbon-11 under high beam current. Conclude: The carbon-11 target system of the KOTRON-13 cyclotron was successfully developed and improved carbon-11 production. Consequently, the operation of carbon-11 target system was highly effective and stable compare with other commercial cyclotrons. Our results are believed that this optimal carbon-11 target system will be helpful for the routine carbon-11 production in the KOTRON-13 cyclotron.
