  • With the recent changes in the social environment, the growth in the so-called 'five major crimes' has been highlighted as one of the causes of anxiety in Koreans' lives. Many attempts have been made to solve this problem; however, it is still difficult to secure the location information of the socially vulnerable in emergency situations and to precisely identify the features and clothing of criminals and track them using current image analysis technology. Therefore, the development of precision positioning technology and support services along with intelligent security service technology based on spatial information has been given a high priority. This study suggested measures that could be continuously applied to link technologies and services with high linkability by analyzing technologies based on spatial information and other fields. To establish measures for linkage between intelligent security technology and other technologies and services, this study analyzed the existing technologies and research trends in intelligent security technology, and reviewed linkable services according to five criteria established to evaluate their linkability. Based on this analysis, three technologies with high linkability were ultimately selected, and measures for linkage were established. It is expected that the linkage measures derived using the objective evaluation criteria will serve as a stepping stone for promoting active technology linkage and commercialization in the future, even after the completion of this study.

  • Recently, the necessity of spatial data in unaccessible area was challenged to set up various plans and policies for preparing the unification and the cooperative projects between South-North Korea. Therefore, this paper planned to evaluate the possibility of adopting the error tolerance in Geometric correction for 1/5,000 digital topographic mapping, using the PLEIADES images and the TerraSAR GCPs (Ground Control Points). The geometric correction was performed by changing the number and placement of GCPs by GPS (Global Positioning System) surveying, as the optimal placement of 5 GCPs were selected considering the geometric stability and steady rate. The positional accuracy evaluated by the TerraSAR GCPs, which were selected by optimal placement of GCPs. The RMSE in control points were X=±0.64m, Y=±0.46m, Z=±0.28m. While the result of geometric correction for PLEIADES images confirmed that the RMSE in control points were X=±0.34m, Y=±0.27m, Z=±0.11m, the RMSE in check points were X=±0.50m, Y=±0.30m, Z=±0.66m. Through this study, we believe if spatial data can integrate with the PLEIADES images and the optimal TerraSAR GCPs, it will be able to obtain the high-precision spatial data for adopting the regulation of 1/5,000 digital topographic map, which adjusts the computation as well as the error bound.

  • Ranging is divided into a synchronous scheme and an asynchronous scheme according to the presence of global synchronization between nodes. In general, the asynchronous ranging is preferred over synchronous ranging because it does not require an expensive high-precision oscillator for the global synchronization. On the other hand, in a conventional asynchronous ranging scheme, the packets, which are generated by all nodes in a positioning system of a large-scale infrastructure and need to be sent for localization by reference nodes, are considerable, which cause an increase in network traffic as the number of nodes increases. The traffic congestion lowers the throughput of the network leading to a considerable loss of energy. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a ranging scheme, in which virtual transmission slots randomly and discretely selected by a plurality of nodes are used to reduce the overheads needed in synchronizing the nodes, and the ranging is performed asynchronously based on the virtual transmission slots, thereby decreasing the network traffic. In addition, a performance test proved that the proposed ranging scheme was stronger than the TWR and SDS-TWR on an error range, even though the intensity of traffic was very low.

  • Precision positioning is necessary for various use of high-resolution UAV images. Basically, GCP is used for this purpose, but in case of emergency situations or difficulty in selecting GCPs, the data shall be obtained without GCPs. This study proposed a method of improving positional accuracy for x, y coordinate of UAV based 3 dimensional point cloud data generated without GCPs. Road vector file by the public data (Open Data Portal) was used as reference data for improving location accuracy. The geometric correction of the 2 dimensional ortho-mosaic image was first performed and the transform matrix produced in this process was adopted to apply to the 3 dimensional point cloud data. The straight distance difference of 34.54 m before the correction was reduced to 1.21 m after the correction. By confirming that it is possible to improve the location accuracy of UAV images acquired without GCPs, it is expected to expand the scope of use of 3 dimensional spatial objects generated from point cloud by enabling connection and compatibility with other spatial information data.
