복굴절이 큰 광섬유에 형성된 장주기 광섬유 격자를 이용한 파장 스위칭 가능한 광섬유 고리형 레이저 (Wavelength-Switchable Fiber Ring Laser Employing a Long-Period Fiber Grating Inscribed on a High Birefringent Fiber)

  • In this paper we propose a wavelength-switchable fiber ring laser that employs a polarization-dependent fiber band stop filter. The fiber filter was fabricated by inscribing a long-period fiber grating on a high birefringent fiber. Dual-wavelength switching operation was accomplished by controlling the rotatable linear polarizer which rotated the polarization plane of the light circulating through the fiber laser cavity. The amplitude variation of both laser lines was measured to be less than 0.5 dB and the signal-to-amplified spontaneous emission ratio was more than 55 dB.

식이 단백질 및 섬유질이 납중독 흰쥐의 단백질과 납대사에 미치는 영향 (Effect of dietary protein and fiber on the lead and protein metabolism in lead poisoning rats)

  • This study wa performed to investigate the effects of dietary protein and fiber on the lead and protein metabolism in lead poisoning rats. Seventy male rats of Sprague-Dawley strain weighing 172$\pm$2g were blocked into 14 gropus according to body weight. Protein(casein) was given at levels of 15 or 40%, and fibers(pectin, cellulose and CMC) were given at levels of 0, 4 or 10%. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Food intake, weight gain and food efficiency ratio(FER) in groups fed high protein diets were higher than those in low protein groups. Liver weight in groups fed no dietary fiber was higher than that of animals fed fiber. Kidney and femur weights were greater in high protein groups. Tibia and femur lengths, and tibia weight were not significantly different among groups. 2. Hemoglobin content and hematocrit values showed no significant differance with dietary factors. 3. Total protein contents of serum and liver showed no significant difference, but tended to increase with increasing dietary protein level. Both daily urinary and fecal nitrogen excretions in high protein groups were higher than those in low protein groups. Especially daily fecal nitrogen excretions in high dietary fiber groups were significantly high. Body nitrogen absorption rate was the highest in animals fed no fiber. 4. Pb levels in blood, liver, kidney and bone tended to decrease with high dietary protein and fiber levels. Especially Pb level of kidney was high in all groups. Daily urinary Pb excretion showed no significant difference with dietary factors, but fecal Pb excretion increased significantly in high protein and fiber groups.

Review on the Fire Resistance and Pumpability Performance of Fiber Reinforced High Strength Concrete

  • Currently, many high-rise buildings are built in Korea for land-efficient utilization and vista. In high-rise buildings this tall, the use of high-strength concrete is essential to reduce the cross-section of structure members and secure axial load. However, this high strength concrete is vulnerable to spalling by fire, due to the water vapor pressure caused by the very high temperature in fire. To prevent this, the main method used is to reinforce the concrete with fiber. However, there has been little research on the pumpability of fiber reinforced high strength concrete. For this reason, this study features a performance review based on the properties and pumpability of fiber reinforced high strength concrete. In addition, the parameter of rheology was measured by extracting mortar from the concrete, and friction factor was measured through a 400 m horizontal pipe pumping test using the fiber reinforced high strength concrete. The basic information on fiber reinforced high strength concrete that we obtain through the experiments and review will contribute to the field.

  • In this study, the fire resistance test was carried out with a parameter such as fiber(PP+NY) mixed ratio on high strength concrete with 80MPa, and the spalling resistance property was evaluated. Concrete material test was carried out with a parameter such as fiber(PP+NY) mixed ratio(0%, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.2%) of high strength concrete with 80MPa. Although the flowability and the strength capacity were delicately decreased with a increase of fiber mixed ratio, they satisfied the target limits. As the spalling resistance property after the fire resistance test of 3 hours, the spalling was partly shown on the high strength concrete with fiber(PP+NY) mixed ratio of 0% but, wasn't shown on the high strength concrete with fiber(PP+NY) mixed ratio of 0.05% ~ 0.2%.

  • The aim of this study is to evaluate the combination effect of amorphous steel fiber and polypropylene fiber on spalling of the 150MPa level ultra high strength concrete. Considering spalling has a great relationship with water vapor pressure, this paper is focusing on water vapor pressure. The test specimens were heated accordance with ISO-834 Standard Curve using electric heating furnace, the depth of 10mm water vapor pressure formation was tend to get faster and spalling damage become severe when the mixing proportion of amorphous steel fiber increase. When using ultra high strength concrete reinforced with amorphous steel fiber, further research about proper mixing proportion of polypropylene fiber.

  • This study investigates the spatting properties of high strength concrete, $60\sim80MPa$ class, designed with diverse aspect ratios and fiber content of nylon(NY). Test showed that increase of fiber content and aspect ratio in concrete decreased the fluidity of fresh concrete, especially for 1580 and 3000 aspect ratio of fiber. As for the compressive and tensile strength, adding NY fiber did not significantly affect the values In the range of high strength. After completing the fire test, the specimens containing both 750 and 1000 aspect ratios of fiber protected the spatting occurrence even in 0.05vol.% of fiber content. This specimens indicated the residual compressive strength ratio at 37%, showing the most favorable value among other specimens. Therefore, it is demonstrated that to protect the spalling in high strength concrete considering the effective fluidity, strength and economic efficiency altogether, adding 0.05vol.% of NY fiber with 750 aspect ratio Is beneficial.

Structural Study of the Oxidized High Modulus Carbon Fiber using Laser Raman Spectroscopy

  • This study aims to find a correlation between XRD and Raman result of the oxidized high modulus carbon fibers as a function of its oxidation degrees, and compare with the isotropic carbon fiber reported early. La of the high modulus carbon fiber prepared by oxidation in carbon dioxide gas have been observed using laser Raman spectroscopy. The basic structural parameters of the fibers were evaluated by XRD as well. The La of the original high modulus carbon fibers were measured to be 144 ${\AA}$ from Raman analysis and 135 ${\AA}$ from XRD analysis. La of the 92% oxidized fiber were 168 ${\AA}$ by using Raman and 182 ${\AA}$ by using XRD. There was some correlation between the La value obtained from Raman and XRD. However the La value changes of the high modulus carbon fiber through whole oxidation process showed opposite tendency compare with the isotropic carbon fiber because of the fiber structure basically.

섬유 조합에 따른 초고성능 콘크리트의 인장거동 (Tensile Behavior of Ultra-High Performance Concrete According to Combination of Fibers)

  • 초고성능 콘크리트는 높은 강도와 유동성을 갖는 우수한 재료 특성을 나타내는 콘크리트이다. 그러나 고연성 시멘트 복합체에 비하여 낮은 연성을 나타낸다. 이 연구에서는 강섬유와 마이크로섬유의 조합이 초고성능 콘크리트의 인장거동에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 이를 위하여 강섬유와 폴리에틸렌, 폴리비닐알코올, 현무암섬유 조합에 따라 4가지 초고성능 콘크리트 배합을 결정하였고, 인장거동을 평가하기 위하여 직접인장 실험을 수행하였다. 또한 마이크로섬유가 제조과정에서 의도하지 않은 과도한 기포를 생성하는지를 확인하기 위하여 밀도실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과 인장강도가 높은 폴리에틸렌섬유는 초고성능 콘크리트의 인장거동을 향상시키는데 효과적임을 확인하였고, 현무암섬유는 초고성능 콘크리트의 균열강도 및 인장강도를 증가시키는데 효과적임을 확인하였다. 또한 마이크로섬유가 의도하지 않은 기포를 생성하지 않는다는 것도 확인하였다.

  • Recently, many attempts have been made to develop high strength and high modulus fibers from conventional polymers such as poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)[1-4] and polyethylene (PE). PVA has potentiality to yield high strength and high modulus fiber, since they have high theoretically attainable moduli because of their planar zig-zag structure. As PVA has a melting temperature as high as 230$^{\circ}C$ in contrast to PE with a low melting temperature such as 130$^{\circ}C$, it seems possible that high strength and high modulus fibers comparable to Aramid can be fabricated from PVA. Compressive Properties of Amorphous Metal Fiber Reinforced Concrete Exposed to high Temperature

  • Compressive property of high strength concrete with amorphous metal fibers subject to high temperature has been investigated. The measure of this investigation includes explosive spalling, weight loss, residual compressive strength, strain at peak stress, elastic modulus, and residual energy absorption capacity after exposure to $400^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$and $800^{\circ}C$. In addition to the amorphous metal fiber, two other types of fibers (polypropylene fiber and hooked-end steel fiber) were also included in this investigation for comparison. The experimental program was conducted with high strength concrete using several combinations of the fiber types. The testing result shows that the concrete with amorphous metal fibers plus polypropylene fibers shows a superior behavior than those using other combination or single fiber type ingredient.
