This paper presents an experimental study exploring impact resistant properties of Kagome truss reinforced composite panels. Three types of panels with different materials and reinforcements, i.e., ultra-high-performance mortar, steel fiber, and Kagome truss, were designed and manufactured. High-velocity projectile impact tests were performed to investigate the impact response of panels with dimensions of 200 mm×200 mm×40 mm. The projectile used in the testing was a steel slug with a hemispherical front; the impact energy was 1 557 J. Test results showed that the Kagome truss reinforcement was effective at improving the impact resistance of panels in terms of failure patterns, damaged area, and mass loss. Synergy effects of a combination of Kagome truss and fiber reinforcements for the improvement of impact resistance capacity of ultra-high-performance mortar were also observed.

This paper studies impact performance of wire-mesh and steel fiber-reinforced concrete based on high-velocity impact experiments using hard spherical balls. In this experimental study, panel specimens were tested with various parameters such as steel fiber volume fraction, presence/absence of wire mesh, panel thickness, impact velocity, and aggregate size for the comparison of impact resistance performance for each specimen. While improvement of the impact resistance for reducing the penetration depth is barely affected with steel fiber volume fraction, the impact resistance to scabbing and perforation is improved substantially. This was due to the fact that the steel fiber had bridging effects in concrete matrix. The wire mesh helped minimizing the crater diameter of front and back face and enhanced the impact resistance to scabbing and perforation; however, the wire mesh did not affect the penetration depth. The wire mesh also reduced the bending deformation of the specimen with wire mesh, though some specimens had splitting bond failure on the rear face. Additionally, use of 20 mm aggregates is superior to 8 mm aggregates in terms of penetration depth, but for reducing the crater diameter on front and back faces, the use of 8 mm aggregates would be more efficient.
In order to investigate the effect of face material on Ti/Al alloy laminates under high velocity impact, a ballistic testing was conducted. Ballistic resistance of these materials was measured by protection ballistic limit($V_{50}$), a statistical velocity with 50% probability penetration. Fracture behaviors and ballistic tolerance, described by penetration modes, were respectfully observed, by $V_{50}$ test and Projectile Through Plates (PTP) test at velocities greater than $V_{50}$. PTP tests were conducted with $0^{\circ}$obliquity at room temperature using 5.56mm ball projectile. $V_{50}$ tests with $0^{\circ}$obliquity were also done with projectiles that were able to achieve near or complete penetration during PTP tests. Resistance to penetration, and penetration modes which face material was Titanium alloy, were compared to those which face material was anodized Al alloy after cold-rolling.

This study has examined the impact resistance and blast resistance characteristics of HPFRCC as a research on impact resistance and blast resistance characteristics using high volume mortar and high velocity projectile for evaluating the protection performance of actual buildings as small quantity experiment of laboratory conditions is performed although there was an instance of performing research on mortar that has reinforced fiber followed by the rise of problems on the damage of human life and buildings created due to explosion and shock. As a result, the destruction loss area and depth have decreased in case of the surface compared to the rear side. As tensile strength and tenacity have increased with the increased fiber replacing ratio, a tendency of destruction loss area and depth getting decreased was shown as the impact resistance has increased.

Due to the fact that the nonlinear low-velocity impact response of graphene platelets reinforced metal foams (GPLRMF) doubly curved shells have not been investigated in the existing works, this paper aims to solve this issue. Using Reddy's high-order shear deformation theory (HSDT), the nonlinear governing equations of GPLRMF doubly curved shells are obtained by Euler-Lagrange method, discretized by Galerkin principle, and solved by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method to obtain the impact force and central deflection. The nonlinear Hertz contact law is applied to determine the contact force. Finally, the impacts of graphene platelets (GPLs) distribution pattern, porosity distribution form, porosity coefficient, damping coefficient, impact parameters (radius and initial velocity), GPLs weight fraction, pre-stressing force and different shell types on the low-velocity impact curves are analyzed. It can be found that, among the four shell structures, the impact resistance of spherical shell is the best, while that of cylindrical shell is the worst.
In order to investigate the fracture behaviors(perforation modes) and resistance to perforation during ballistic impact of aluminum alloy plate, ballistic tests were conducted. Depth of penetration experiments with 5.56mm-diameter ball projectile launched into 25mm-thickness Al 5052-H34 targets were conducted. A powder gun launched the 3.55g projectiles at striking velocities between 0.6 and 1.0 km/s. radiography of the damaged targets showed different penetration modes as striking velocities increased. Resistance to perforation is determined by the protection ballistic limit($V_{50}$), a statistical velocity with 50% probability for complete perforation. Fracture behaviors and ballistic tolerance, described by perforation modes, are respectfully observed at and above ballistic limit velocities, as a result of $V_{50}$ test and Projectile Through Plates (PTP) test methods. PTP tests were conducted with $0^{\circ}$ obliquity at room temperature using 5.56mm ball projectile. $V_{50}$ tests with $0^{\circ}$ obliquity at room temperature were conducted with projectiles that were able to achieve near or complete perforation during PTP tests. The effect of various impact velocity are studied with depth of penetration.
The mechanical properties of $Al_2O_3$-SiC composites manufactured with adding various amount and size of SiC particles have been measured and analyzed. Generally, the elastic modulus of the composites shows about 50% less than that of PL-8 (45 wt% $Al_2O_3$-51 wt% $SiO_2$-4 wt% other oxides), but the flexural strength is similar with each other. The impact resistance property of $Al_2O_3$-SiC composite against high velocity copper jet was lower than that of PL-8 when SiC particles of approximately 3 $\mu$m diameter was added to. It is caused probably due to the micro-pores made by oxidation of SiC particles. However, in the case of the less-weighted $Al_2O_3$-SiC composite adding to 10 wt% SiC with average diameter of 10 $\mu$m and sintering at 1200$^{\circ}C$, the impact resistance property was improved up to 37 percent compared with that of PL-8.
In order to investigate the fracture behaviors(penetration modes) and resistance to penetration during ballistic impact of Titanium alloy laminates and nitrified Titanium alloy laminates which were treated by PVD(Physical Vapor Deposition) method, ballistic tests were conducted. Evaporation, sputtering, and ion plating are three kinds of PVD method. In this research, Ion plating was used to achieve higher surface hardness and surface hardness test were conducted using a Micro vicker's hardness tester. Resistance to penetration is determined by the protection ballistic limit($V_{50}$), a statistical velocity with 50% probability for complete penetration. Fracture behaviors and ballistic tolerance, described by penetration modes, are respectfully observed at and above ballistic limit velocities, as a result of $V_{50}$ test and Projectile Through Plates (PTP) test methods. PTP tests were conducted with $0^{\circ}$ obliquity at room temperature using 5.56mm ball projectile. $V_{50}$ test with $0^{\circ}$ obliquity at room temperature were conducted with projectiles that were able to achieve near or complete penetration during PTP tests. Surface hardness, resistance to penetration, and penetration modes of Titanium alloy laminates are compared to those of nitrified Titanium alloy laminates.

This paper presents high-velocity impact analysis of two-way RC slabs, including steel fibers and strengthening with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets for evaluating impact resistance. The analysis uses the LS-DYNA program, which is advanced in impact analysis. The present analysis was performed similarly to the high-velocity impact tests conducted by VTT, the technical research center of Finland, to verify the analysis results. High-velocity impact loads were applied to $2100{\times}2100{\times}250$ mm size two-way RC slab specimens, using a non-deformable steel projectile of 47.5kg mass and 134.9m/s velocity. In this research, extra impact analysis of material specimens was carried out to verify the material models used to the analysis. The elastic-plastic hydrodynamic model, concrete damage model and orthotropic elastic model were used to simulate the non-linear softening behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC), and material properties of normal concrete and FRP sheets, respectively. It is concluded that the suggested analysis technique has good reliability, and can be effectively applied in evaluating the effectiveness of reinforcing/retrofitting materials and techniques. Also, the Steel fiber and FRP sheet strengthening systems provided outstanding performance under high-velocity impact loads.
