The characters associated with the rice quality and the factors as the proper harvesting time of rice were examined from 2002 to 2004 at Iksan in Honam plaine area. The rice cultivars tested were Samcheonbyeo (Early maturing one). Hwaseongbyeo(Medium maturing one) and Nampyeongbyeo(Mid-late maturing one). The ripened grain rates were high when the harvesting dates after heading were between 50 to 55 days,55 to 60 days, and 60 days for Samcheonbyeo, Hwaseongbyeo and Nampyeongbyeo, respectively. The yield of rice were higher when harvested 45 to 50 days, 50 to 55 days, and 55 to 60 days after heading for Samcheonbyeo, Hwaseongbyeo and Nampyeongbyeo. The highest yields of head rice were obtained when harvested 45 days after heading, 50 days and 55 to 60 days for Samcheonbyeo, Hwaseongbyeo and Nampyeongbyeo. In conclusion, in Honam plain, taking the head rice production, rice quality level, protein content and palatability of rice into account, the best harvest times were found to be 52 days(accumulated temp. : $1,213^{\circ}C$) after heading, 56 days$(1,221^{\circ}C)$, and 60 days $(1,207^{\circ}C)$, for Samcheonbyeo, Hwaseongbyeo and Nampyeongbyeo, respectively.
This study investigated color barley powder substituted for wheat flour in bread recipes with the amounts of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Color barley powder consisted of 9.35% of moisture content, 9.37% of crude protein, 1.64% of crude fat and 2.96% of crude ash. Water soluble dietary fiber is 3.21, insoluble dietary fiber is 4.91, total dietary fiber content is 8.12, and ${\beta}$-glucan is 49.31. DPPH radical scavenging activity is 56.76%, total phenol content is 234.34. The farinograph measurement result of the bread made with color barley powder showed that consistency, water absorption, development time and time breakdown have decreased. The alveogram measurement result of the bread made with color barley powder showed that overpressure, extensibility, swelling index and deformation energy have increased. The amylograph measurement result of the bread made with color barley powder showed that peak viscosity, hot past viscosity and breakdown have decreased. Baking loss and specific loaf volume have decreased as the color barley powder content increased. The chromaticity measurement result showed that the 'L' and 'b' of bread have increased as the color barley powder content increased, while the chromatic 'a' value increased. The texture measurement result showed that the hardness and gumminess of bread have increased as the color barley powder content increased. cohesiveness, springiness and chewiness have decreased. Overall preference scores showed a high overall acceptability for the bread made with 10% color barley powder.
Dried black soybeans were soaked in water at the temperature range of $4^{\circ}C{\sim}100^{\circ}C$ and in salt or sugar solution at $100^{\circ}C$ in order to investigate their effects on the cooking ratio and diffusion property of color pigments. As the temperature increased, the equilibrated absorbance at 490nm of soaking water after 120min was linearly increased. The activation energy for diffusion of color pigments were found to be 4.23 Kcal/mole at the range of $60^{\circ}C{\sim}100^{\circ}C$ and 8.31 kca1/mo1e at $4^{\circ}C{\sim}60^{\circ}C$. The cooking ratio, % cooked beans after heating, of black soybeans were more affected by the salt concentration that of sugar. Both concentrations reduced the cooking ratio as they increased. The sorption isotherm of Kongjaban showed a quite different curves between the storage at $4^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$. The sorption and desorption rates during storage could be represented by the equation of $log({\frac{dw}{dt}}{\times}10^3))=alogt+logb$ with a very high correlation.
Temperature-dependent development study for overwintered eggs of Pseudococcus comstocki (Kuwana) wasconducted to develop a forecasting model for egg hatch date. Hatch times of overwintered eggs were comparedat five constant temperatures (10, 15, 20, 25, 27$^{\circ}$C) and different collection dates. A nonlinear, four-parameterdevelopmental model with high temperature inhibition accurately described (R2=0.9948) mean developmentalrates of all temperatures. Variation in developmental times was modeled(~~=0.972w9)it h a cumulative Weibullfunction. Least-squares linear regression (rate=O.O06358[Temp.]-0.07566)d escribed development in the linearregion (15-25$^{\circ}$C) of the development curve. The low development threshold temperature was estimated 11.9"Cand 154.14 degree-days were required for complete development. The linear degree-day model (thermal summation)and rate summation model (Wagner et al. 1985) were validated using field phenology data. In degreedaymodels, mean-minus-base method, sine wave method, and rectangle method were used in estimation of dailythermal units. Mean-minus-base method was 18 to 28d late, sine wave method was 11 to 14d late, rectanglemethod was 3 to 5d late, and rate summation model was 2 to 3d late in predicting 50% hatch of overwinteredeggs. hatch of overwintered eggs.

The full grasp of recreation demand and factors affecting on recreation demand can be very important information for park planning and management. The object-tives of this study are to investigate factors affecting the fluctuation of urban park visitors and to analyze the relationship between these factors and the daily parti-cipations. The results were as follows; 1) The peak of monthly participations comes on May, April, August and October in order. And these months are specified as school picnic period and vacation of school children. 2) In correlation analysis, the variables such as ‘Day of a week(D)’, ‘Monthly mean temp.(T)’and ‘Monthly character(M)’have high correlations with ‘No. of visitors’in order. And it is better to categorize months by its charater(picnic period in school, vacation etc) than by seasons. 3) Candidate regression model were established, as for 1984 log U= 1.51 + 0.64D1 + 0.02T + 0.36W1 - 0.23M4 + 0.003SS + 0.24Ml($R^2$=0.5326) where, U=no. of daily visitors D1 = sunday.ho1iday(1), weekday(0) T=monthly mean temperature($^{\circ}C$) W1= weather (sunny.cloudy(1) , rainy (>5mm)(0)> M4=non vacations and non school picnic period(1) , if not (0) SS=monthly sunshining hours M1=summer vacation(1), if not(0) 4) The most important variable was ‘Day of a week’(sunday.holiday or not). In this study, an eco-friendly combustion process of waste 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT: 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene) was developed, and fundamental data for the quantity of the organic matter in the final combustion residues is presented. Because complete combustion of TNT is not possible theoretically, the combustion process was optimized to reduce organic matter content in the combustion residue by performing measures such as heating time changes, addition of propellant material, and after treatment using a high-temp electrical furnace. From the results, it was confirmed that the organic matter content in the residue could be decreased to 7 ~ 10% with each method. The quantity of the organic matter could be minimized by optimizing the combustion conditions of the process. With only a combustion time increase, the amount of organic matter in the combustion residues was measured at about 9 wt%. The environmental friendliness of the final exhaust gas was also confirmed by real time gas component analyses. In addition, the organic contents could be reduced by a further 2 wt% by applying an additional heat treatment using an external electric furnace after the first incineration treatment. In the combustion process of propellant added waste TNT, it was found that various TNT wastes could be treated using the same eco-friendly protocols because the organic content in the residue decreased in accordance with the amount of propellant. The amount of the organic matter content produced by all these methods fulfilled the requirements under the Waste Management Act.

The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of climate change on rice yield and quality. Experiments were conducted using SPAR(Soil-Plant-Atmosphere-Research) chambers, which was designed to create virtual future climate conditions, in the National Institute of Crop Science, Jeonju, Korea, in 2016. In the future climate conditions($+2.8^{\circ}C$ temp, 580 ppm $CO_2$) of year 2051~2060 according to RCP 8.5 scenario, elevated temperature and $CO_2$ accelerated the heading date by about five days than the present climate conditions, resulted in a high temperature environment during grain filling stage. Rice yield decreased sharply in the future climate conditions due to the high temperature induced poor ripening. And the spikelet numbers, ripening ratio, and 1000-grain weight of brown rice were significantly decreased compared to control. The rice grain quality was also decreased sharply, especially due to the increased immature grains. In the future climate conditions, expression of starch biosynthesis-related genes such as granule-bound starch synthase(GBSSI, GBSSII, SSIIa, SSIIb, SSIIIa), starch branching enzyme(BEIIb) and ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase(AGPS1, AGPS2, AGPL2) were repressed in developing seeds, whereas starch degradation related genes such as ${\alpha}-amylase$(Amy1C, Amy3D, Amy3E) were induced. These results suggest that the reduction in yield and quality of rice in the future climate conditions is likely caused mainly by the poor grain filling by high temperature. Therefore, it is suggested to develop tolerant cultivars to high temperature during grain filling period and a new cropping system in order to ensure a high quality of rice in the future climate conditions.
From a 95% ethanolic extract of H. diffusa, four marker compounds (HD1~HD4) were isolated, which were relatively unique and exist in comparably high contents. The structures of marker compounds were identified as digitolutein (1), 2-hydroxy-3-methylanthraquinone (2), (E/Z)-6-O-p-coumaroyl scandoside methyl ester (4:1 mixture) (3), and (E/Z)-6-O-p-methoxycinnamoyl scandoside methyl ester (4:1 mixture) (4), respectively, on the basis of $^{13}C$ and $^1H$-NMR analyses. The calibration curves of marker compounds showed high linearity, as their correlation coefficient ($R^2$) were in the range of 0.9991~0.9999. In addition, the limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantification (LOQ) were $0.03{\sim}0.07{\mu}g/ml$ and $0.099{\sim}0.231{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. The intra-day/inter-day precision and accuracy were 0.23~2.00%/0.25~1.16% and 94.60~108.44%/94.73-110.23%, respectively. The optimal HPLC conditions for the simultaneous quantification of HD1~HD4 were as follows: stationary phase; Merck Chromolith RP-18e ($100{\times}4.6mm$, $5{\mu}m$), column temp.; room temperature, UV detection at 280 nm, flow rate; 2.0 ml/min, injection volume; $10{\mu}l$, mobile phase; start with the mixture of 80% solvent A ($H_2O$ containing 0.5% acetic acid) and 20% solvent B (methanol containing 0.5% acetic acid) and gradually decrease solvent A to 40% in 9 min., then retain this condition to 18 min. Under the HPLC condition, the four marker compounds 1~4 were successfully separated without any interference of other constituents. The results obtained in this study are expected to be helpful for the development of nutraceutics and natural medicines and for the quality control of this plant.
Green tides, which was mainly caused by Ulva spp., have been increasing in severity and frequency globally, and have negatively affected on marine ecosystems. This study was conducted to investigate effects of various physical and chemical factors on the death of Ulva australis (ULAUS) and to consider a practical measures useful for alleviating Ulva bloom. Soaking of ULAUS thalli in pure water for 8 hr didn't induce a death, but incubation in 1.0-1.5% salinity for 7 d inhibited sporulation by about 70%. Desiccation gave rise to a serious damage when more than 40-50% of initial fresh weight was lost. ULAUS growth was sensitive to temperature and seriously inhibited from more than $30^{\circ}C$. At $35^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, $45^{\circ}C$ and $50^{\circ}C$, treatment time required for 90-95% death of ULAUS thalli was 1 d, 10 min, 30 sec, and 1 sec, repectively. ULAUS growth was seriously inhibited at lower than pH 6.0 and completely dead at pH 4.0. Several compounds for ULAUS control was selected and the chemcals causing a rapid death were oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide and sodium percarbonate. Taken together, our results suggest that low salinities, dryness, pH, high temp. and compounds could be selected for Ulva bloom control, and high temperature and compounds seems to be useful for a development of practical control methods.

The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of Changemaker education and to investigate the significance of Changemaker education in home economics education through a study of growth of learners applying the TEMPS program. To this end, first, the concept of Changemaker education was defined. Changemaker education is an education that changes society in a positive direction through a process of thinking about, learning about, making, and participating(playing) in various problems that we face in real life and drawing out solutions and share he solutions with others. Second, in this reasearch, the direction of Changemaker education is to make them interested in social problems and solve it and to make both the family and the career life happy and healthy by collaborating with other people. The scope of the contents is defined as "the selection of the content elements of the five domains of the child family, diet nutrition, clothing, housing and consumer life". As a way of teaching, we suggested that the TEMPS phase is followed so that the session purpose is achieved. Third, the Changemaker program consists of five steps of TEMPS among the five key ideas of Changemaker education. T(Thinking) is the step of understanding the problem and thinking about how to solve it, and E(Education) is getting the background for the next step. M(Making) is a step to create a target for problem solving, and P(Participation) and P(Play) are steps to Participation and enjoy. S(Share) is a step of changing the society through the result display, SNS sharing, and class presentation. In this study, 12 programs for middle school and 15 programs for high school were developed on the basis of TEMPS level. Each of the programs consists of 2 to 12 unit hours, which add up to 68 hours in the middle school program and 68 in high school. The learners who participated in the Changemaker program for one year (March 2, 2018~December 31, 2018) will experience improvement in many aspects including the linkage of life and education, practical ability, self-directed learning, self-esteem, sense of achievement and self-reflection, sensory observation, and so on.
