  • The use of satellite remote sensing in maritime safety and security can aid in the detection of illegal fishing activities and provide more efficient use of limited aircraft or patrol craft resources. In the area of vessel traffic monitoring for commercial vessels, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) which use the ground-based radar system have some difficulties in detecting moving ships due to the limited detection range. A virtual vessel traffic control system is introduced to contribute to prevent a marine accident such as collision and stranding from happening. Existing VTS has its limit. The virtual vessel traffic control system consists of both data acquisition by satellite remote sensing and a simulation of traffic environment stress based on the satellite data, remotely sensed data. And it could be used to provide timely and detailed information about the marine safety, including the location, speed and direction of ships, and help us operate vessels safely and efficiently. If environmental stress values are simulated for the ship information derived from satellite data, proper actions can be taken to prevent accidents. Since optical sensor has a high spatial resolution, JERS satellite data are used to track ships and extract their information. We present an algorithm of automatic identification of ship size and velocity. This paper lastly introduce the field testing results of ship detection by RADARSAT SAR imagery, and propose a new approach for a Vessel Monitoring System(VMS), including VTS, and SAR combination service.

파랑중 8톤급 어선의 복원력 분석 (The Stability Analysis of the 8 Ton Class Fishing Vessel in Seaway)

  • 본 연구에서는 8톤급 어선의 복원력 분석이 이루어졌다. 복원력 분석은 안정성과 관련이 있어, 선박의 기본설계시 중요한 항목중 하나이고, 각국 선급에서 규정을 준수하도록 하고 있다. 파랑중 어선의 전복현상은 파랑 및 바람에 의한 외력과 파랑중 선박의 브로우칭 (broaching) 현상과 복원력 변화가 어우러져 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 전복 -현상에 대한 분석을 하기 전에 필요한 파랑중복원력 분석이 수행되었다. 파도와의 만남 주파수가 0이 되는 선속과 파장의 관계가 구해졌다. 본 연구에서 택한 어선의 경우 선박의 길이와 비슷한 파장을 가지는 파도와 같은 방향으로 가면 만남 주파수가 작아짐 을 알 수 가 있었다. 이런 경우 위험한 상황이 발생할 가능성이 있다. 복원팔의 계산 결과 파정에 선박이 위치하고 있을 때, 복원력 감소가 상당히 발생하였음을 알 수가 있었다 파정에 오래 머물지 않도록 하는 운항 지침이 있어야 하겠다 전체적으로 본 연구에서 택한 어선을 대형 화물선보다 복원력 변에서는 유리한 것으로 판단되는데, 선체가 작아 상대적 으로 높은 파도를 만날 가능성이 많다. 앞 절에서 여러 가지 경우에 대한 계산 결과를 보았다. 김윤수(1994)는 대형화물선에 대하여 복원력 변화를 계산하였는데, 파도에 의한 복원력변화가 심하였다. 위의 그립을 보면 H/Lw=0.025에서 GZ 곡선의 최대 값이 1/2 이하로 줄어듦을 알 수 있다. 그러나 본 어선의 결과인 Fig. 6 과 7을 보면 변화가 대형화물선과 비교하며 작음을 알 수 있다. 이 것의 원인은 중앙단면의 형상 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 대형화물선의 경우 방형 비척계수 (뚱뚱함을 나타내는 계수)가 큰데 반하여, 본 어선은 방형 비척계수가 작고 측면에 차인을 두어 부력중심의 변화가 커서 복원력이 많이 작아지지 않는 것으로 판단된다. 앞으로 파도와 비슷한 속도와 방향으로 항주하는 어선의 동역학적인 안정성에 대한 분석이 이루어져야 하겠다.

Assessment of whipping and springing on a large container vessel

  • Wave induced vibrations increase the fatigue and extreme loading, but this is normally neglected in design. The industry view on this is changing. Wave induced vibrations are often divided into springing and whipping, and their relative contribution to fatigue and extreme loading varies depending on ship design. When it comes to displacement vessels, the contribution from whipping on fatigue and extreme loading is particularly high for certain container vessels. A large modern design container vessel with high bow flare angle and high service speed has been considered. The container vessel was equipped with a hull monitoring system from a recognized supplier of HMON systems. The vessel has been operating between Asia and Europe for a few years and valuable data has been collected. Also model tests have been carried out of this vessel to investigate fatigue and extreme loading, but model tests are often limited to head seas. For the full scale measurements, the correlation between stress data and wind data has been investigated. The wave and vibration damage are shown versus heading and Beaufort strength to indicate general trends. The wind data has also been compared to North Atlantic design environment. Even though it has been shown that the encountered wind data has been much less severe than in North Atlantic, the extreme loading defined by IACS URS11 is significantly exceeded when whipping is included. If whipping may contribute to collapse, then proper seamanship may be useful in order to limit the extreme loading. The vibration damage is also observed to be high from head to beam seas, and even present in stern seas, but fatigue damage in general is low on this East Asia to Europe trade.

파라메트릭 기법을 고속 단동선의 NURBS 모델링 (Construction of NURBS Model for Preliminary High-Speed Monohull Design Based on Parametric Approach)

  • An approach to model a high-speed monohull vessel is introduced. The high-speed monohull form belonging to the category of multihull is drawing new attention, due to the rapidly growing trend of fast passenger ships and military purpose. Multihull forms are much thinner in their overall shape, compared to those of the conventional commercial vessels. Moreover, the parent hull forms are not readily obtainable when a new design is intended, which makes it hard to perform various technical calculations in terms of hull optimization, hydrodynamic computation, structural design, and so forth. In this paper, a parametric technique is used to design a high-speed hull form. To model a hull form, NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) representation is used. The goal of research is to provide a fast and convenient tool to design an initial hull form with fewer parameters available in the early design stage. The technique employed in this paper will be applied to the design of multihull forms, such as catamaran, trimaran, and semi-swath.

흡기계의 동적효과가 기관성능에 미치는 영향 (The dynamic effects of intake system on the engine performance)

  • The intake system of 4-cycle, 4-cylinder reciprocating engine is investigated the simple model composed of vessel, duct and throttling part. The numerical calculation based on the simulation is performed for the flow phenomena including heat transfer, friction and bend of duct at each part. In the multi-cylinder engine, the volumetric efficiency is increased a little as the junction location is closed to cylinder at the engine speed having maximum volumetric efficiency. The configuration and dimension of intake system have an influence on the inertia effect by resistance and pressure variation, and the magnitude of that is varied by the engine speed. Thus the volumetric efficiency is correlative to them. The volumetric efficiency is high as the intake valve close is advanced at the low engine speed, and is delayed at high speed.

  • Resistance performance of small size fishing vessel is experimentally investigated to find out the effect of fore-body shape and trim for the better hull form development. The tests are performed for four different cases in the high speed circulating water channel(CWC). Wave patterns are observed together to investigate the relation between the resistance performance and the wave characteristics.

유정란 배아 혈액유동의 in vivo 계측 (In Vivo Measurements of Blood Flow in a Chicken Embryo Using Micro PIV Technique)

  • To analyze in-vivo blood flow characteristics in a chicken embryo, in-vivo experiment was carried out using micro-PIV technique. Because endothelial cells in blood vessels are subject to shear stress of blood flow, it is important to get velocity field information of the placental blood flow. Instantaneous velocity fields of an extraembryonic blood vessel using a high-speed camera and intravital microscope. The flow images of RBCs were obtained with a spatial resolution of $20\times20{\mu}m$ in the whole blood vessels. The mean velocity field data confirm that the blood flow does show non-Newtonian fluid characteristic. The blood in a branched vessel merged smoothly without any flow separation into the main blood vessel with the presence of a slight bump. This in-vivo micro-PIV measurement technique can be used as a powerful tool in various blood flow researches.

고속 내시경적 OFDI 시스템 개발과 이를 이용한 3차원 생체 혈관 내부 이미징 (Development of a High-Speed Endoscopic OCT System and Its Application to Three-Dimensional Intravascular Imaging in Vivo)

  • 혈관 내 OCT (optical coherence tomography) 는 혈관 벽 내부의 3차원적 미세구조를 영상화할 수 있어서 임상에서 각광을 받고 있다. 하지만 아직도 충분하지 못한 이미징 속도, 특히 내시경 프로브의 이미징 광 스캐닝 속도의 부족으로 혈관 길이 방향의 이미징 간격이 실제 시스템의 광학적 해상도보다 5배 이상 커서 혈관 종방향으로의 고해상도 이미징이 얻어지지 못하고 있는 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 초당 350장의 혈관 벽 단층 영상을 제공하는 고속 혈관 내 OCT 시스템을 기술한다. 본 시스템과 내시경 장치를 이용하여 47 mm 길이의 살아있는 토끼 대동맥을 3.7초만에 34 micron의 혈관 종방향 간격으로 얻는데 성공하였다. 34 micron의 종방향 간격은 실제 내시경의 그 방향 광학적 해상도와 비슷한 정도로서 3차원 모든 방향으로의 고해상도 이미징을 구현하였음을 보여준다. 얻어진 이미징 데이터의 3차원 영상 구현을 통해 혈관의 미세구조 및 이미징 전 삽입된 스텐트의 자세한 구조를 보였다.
