  • Demand of good seakeeping perfomace is increasing for sea going vessels such as cruisers, naval ships and container ships. Especillay roll motion is one of major concerns in evaluation of seakeeping performance due to its large resonace motion. Since large roll resonance motion is mainly arised from inherent small damping. use of additional mechnism to provide roll damping can significantly reduce roll motion. In this paper, a reliable performace evaluation method of fin stabilizer, which is very useful for stabilizing roll motion of mid and high speed vessls, is described. Model test and time domain simulation methods are adopted for performance evaluation in which real operating situation of fin stabilizer can be exactly modelled. Model test and simulation results show good correlations between model test and simulation results.

  • Recently, due to demands of faster speed and extra features for the chip mounters, there has been ever-demanding needs for the basic technology. Until four or five years ago, chip mounters placing 0.3sec/chip were considered to be in the high speed category, but since then it has become a borderline for categorizing high speed machines capable of placing 0.1sec/chip. In this study, in order to analyze the vibration of head generated by the dynamic behavior of x-frame, FEM model is composed and modal analysis is performed to identify the dynamic characteristics of the structure. Those results are compared with the modal test in order to verify the model. In this paper, Several other factors, such as definition of dynamic accuracy, static accuracy and tolerance of the axis settling range, that might affect the dynamic behavior the head are discussed.

  • This paper proposes QoS Model which has tested and analyzed the capabilities of provisioning multimedia service in high speed Internet environment. We have tested quality measurement test for VoIP/MoIP, VoD, IPTV services and analyzed the level of QoS and QoS degradation by constructing test laboratory consisted of 46 subscribers which provided by 3 telecom operators. Besides, We propose QoS Model to apply for BcN application based on analysis result and prove proposed model by constructing test lab in KOREN environment. It is expected that telecom will use this results as a valuable information to construct All-IP network based on NGN(NGN:Next Generation Network). This paper proposes QoS Model which has tested and analyzed the capabilities of provisioning multimedia service in high speed Internet environment. • Using a flexible rotating beam test bed, experimental verification of a flexible multibody dynamic simulations for a rotating beam model has been carried out. The test bed consists of a flexible arm, harmonic driver reducer, AC servo motor and DSP board with PC. The mechanical ports of the test bed has been designed using 3D CAD program. For the simulation model, mass and moment of inertia of each part of the flexible rotating beam test bed are also obtained from 3D CAD model. In the flexible multibody dynamic simulations, the substructuring model has been established to capture nonlinear effects of the flexible rotating beam. Through the experimental verification, substructuring model provides better results than those from the linear model in the high speed rotation.

  • The high speed wind tunnel test for the study of the basic aerodynamic characteristics of the rocket with twin strap-on boosters was performed using ADD trisonic wind tunnel on the Mach number range of 0.4~4.0. The 6 % scale model of the early design version of Korean sounding rocket was tested. The tested configurations were core only, core/fins, core/boosters and core/boosters/fins. The effects of core length, gap between core and booster, and bank angle were investigated.

  • When collision accident between ships or between ship and offshore platform occurs, a common phenomenon that occurs in structures is the plastic deformation accompanied by a large strain such as fracture. In this study, for the rational design against accidental limit state, the plastic material constants of steel plate which is heated by line heating and steel plate formed by cold bending procedure have been defined through the numerical simulation for the high speed tension test. The usefulness of the material constants included in Cowper-Symonds model and Johnson-Cook model and the assumption that strain rate can be neglected when strain rate is less than the intermediate speed are verified through free drop test as well as comparing with numerical results in several references. This paper ends with describing the future study.

  • This study was carried out for the hull form development of G/T 340ton class high speed fishery patrol ship by Chosun University at the Circulating Water Channel cooperatively with Korea Maritime Service. Same size of 15knots class fishery patrol ship was selected as a parent form (Model number : CU-015), and modified fore and after body to be suitable for the operation at 20 knots. To minimize the breaking wave in the vicinity of fore body at high speed zone, high bulb nose and slender fore body hull form was chosen as an initial condition. Meanwhile, to ensure the engine room space keeping high resistance-propulsion performance, U-type stern hull form was developed.

  • A 25ft class fishing leisure boat is developed, and the resistance performances are investigated by a model test in a high-speed circulating water channel. The design speed of the developed ship is 25 knots using a 150 ps outboard engine. A catamanan type hull form using a planing section is adopted considering the Froude number and large deck area. The effect of a center body attached on the bottom of the cross deck is studied under various conditions. Wave patterns are observed to make clear the relationship between the resistance performance and the wave characteristics. The results show that the shape of the center body and the position of the chine line can have a strong effect on the resistance performance in a certain velocity range.

  • In this paper, the dynamic responses of train-bridge system under one-way and two-way high-speed train passing are studied. The 3D finite element modeling is used and the bridge and train are modeled considering their details. The created model is validated by the results of the dynamic field test. To study the effect of train speed, different train passing scenarios are analyzed, including one-way passing, two-way passing in different directions at same speeds, and two-way passing in different directions at different speeds. The results show that the locations of maximum acceleration are different in one-way and two-way passing modes, and the maximum values in two-way passing mode are higher than those in one-way passing mode, while the maximum accelerations in both modes are almost identical. The displacement and acceleration values in different scenarios show peaks at speeds of 260 and 120 km/h, due to the proximity of the natural frequencies of the bridge and loading frequencies of the train at these speeds.

  • INCONEL 718, nickel based superalloy, has good formability, high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties at high temperature. Owing to theses attractive properties, it finds use in applications such as combustion system, turbine engines and nuclear reactors. In such applications, components are typically required to be tolerant of high stress impact loading. This may cause material degradation and lead to catastrophic failure during service operation. In order to design optimal structural parts made of INCONEL 718, accurate understanding of material's mechanical properties, dynamic behavior and fracture characteristic as a function of strain rates are required. This paper concerned with the dynamic material properties of the INCONEL 718 for the various strain rates. The dynamic response of the INCONEL 718 at intermediate strain rate is obtained from the high speed tensile test machine test and at the high strain rate is from the split Hopkinson pressure bar test. Based on the experimental results, the effects of strain rate on dynamic flow stress, work hardening characteristics, strain rate sensitivity and elongation to the failure are evaluated. Experimental results from both quasi-static and high strain rate up to the 5000/sec are interpolated in order to construct the Johnson-Cook model as the constitutive relation that should be applied to simulate and design the structural parts made of INCONEL 718.
