  • In wireless and handheld platforms area, performance, power and cost are key metrics for product success. This is driving increasing levels of on-chip integration in state-of-the-art application processors. The purpose of this project is to optimize and design the energy-efficient embedded system that properly displays video and audio in real time. The requirements are for the media player to be capable of decoding real-time streaming video and audio with the least possible energy consumption for a variety of different clips at different resolutions. We implemented this Linux based multimedia player on Intel's PXA27x platform.

항해중인 수중력 고속정이 해양에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Advancing High Speed Vessel on the Ocean Wave)

  • The effect of the submerged high speed vessel on the ocean wave is made clear in the point of hydrodynamics view. In connection to the design of high speed ship, the flow analysis is carried out to predict the pressure distribution for drag and lift. The purpose of the research is to help the preliminary design of the economic hull form advancing under the ocean wave by estimating the resistance performance and the wave behaviour. In the present study, more efficient numerical approaches are investigated for the viscous flow analysis around a submerged NACA0012 hydrofoil with the laminar and incompressible fluid. Through the numerical simulation, it is found that the new numerical method becomes more efficient primarily due to the fact that the wave elevation is reasonably developed.

  • In this paper, a double artificial neural network (ANN) approach and the efficient machining database building scheme are presented for the prediction of surface roughness in high-speed machining. In this approach, 4 machining parameters and used for the prediction of cutting force components, and the combinations of 4 parameters and the predicted cutting force components are finally used for the prediction of surface roughness. The experimental results comparing the these results with the predicted values using simple 4 input nodes have been also investigated to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • In this paper, we suggest the high efficient control method based on general PI control law to control the refrigeration system of the ship effectively. In the variable speed refrigeration system, the capacity and the superheat are controlled by inverters and electronic expansion valves respectively for saving energy and improving cost performance. Thus, we propose decoupling model to eliminate the interfering at first. Next, we design PI controller to control capacity and superheat independently. Finally the control performance was investigated through some experiments. The experiments results show that the PI control design can obtain good control performance deal with the varied control reference and thermal load.

QoS-aware Cross Layer Handover Scheme for High-Speed vehicles

  • High-Speed vehicles can be considered as multiple mobile nodes that move together in a large-scale mobile network. High-speed makes the time allowed for a mobile node to complete a handover procedure shorter and more frequently. Hence, several protocols are used to manage the mobility of mobile nodes such as Network Mobility (NEMO). However, there are still some problems such as high handover latency and packet loss. So efficient handover management is needed to meet Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for real-time applications. This paper utilizes the cross-layer seamless handover technique for network mobility presented in cellular networks. It extends this technique to propose QoS-aware NEMO protocol which considers QoS requirements for real-time applications. A novel analytical framework is developed to compare the performance of the proposed protocol with basic NEMO using cost functions for realistic city mobility model. The numerical results show that QoS-aware NEMO protocol improves the performance in terms of handover latency, packet delivery cost, location update cost, and total cost.

엔진회전속도의 변화가 HCCI엔진연소에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치해석 연구 (The Research about Engine Speed change Effect on HCCI Engine Combustion by Numerical Analysis)

  • In HCCI Engine, combustion is affected by change of compression speed corresponding to engine speed. The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanism of influence of engine speed on HCCI combustion characteristics by using numerical analysis. At first, the influence of engine speed was shown. And then, in order to clarify the mechanism of influence of engine speed, results of kinetics computations were analyzed to investigate the elementary reaction path for heat release at transient temperatures by using contribution matrix. In results, as engine speed increased, in-cylinder gas temperature and pressure at ignition start increased. And ignition start timing was retarded and combustion duration was lengthened on crank angle basis. On time basis, ignition start timing was advanced and combustion duration was shortened. High engine speed showed higher robustness to change of initial temperature than low engine speed. Because of its high robustness, selecting high engine speed was efficient for keeping stable operation in real engine which include variation of initial temperature by various factors. The variation of engine speed did not change the reaction path. But, as engine speed increased, the temperature that each elementary reaction would be active became high and reaction speed quicken. Rising the in-cylinder gas temperature of combustion start was caused by these gaps of temperature.

TCAM을 이용한 패킷 분류를 위한 효율적인 갱신 알고리즘 (An Efficient Update Algorithm for Packet Classification With TCAM)

  • 고성능 라우터, 스위치 및 네트워크 보안 장비에서 패킷 포워딩 기능을 고속으로 수행하기 위해서는 효과적인 패킷 분류 기술이 필수적인데, 최근에는 TCAM과 검색엔진 등, 고속의 컨텐트 기반 검색 하드웨어를 이용하는 방법들이 사용되고 있다. 패킷 분류 시에는 트래픽 차단, 트래픽 모니터링 등의 목적을 위해서 많은 규칙들이 사용될 수 있고, 삽입과 삭제가 시스템 운용 중에 발생할 수 있다. 특히, 고속의 네트워크 환경에서 패킷 포워딩의 성능을 저하시키지 않기 위해서는 동적으로 변화하는 규칙들을 효과적으로 갱신하는 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 TCAM을 이용한 패킷 분류시 효과적인 갱신이나 재배치를 위해서 순서화된 부분 정렬 알고리즘을 제안하고, 실험을 통하여 TCAM의 이용률이 70$\%$까지 높은 상황에서도 갱신으로 인한 재배치가 거의 일어나지 않도록 하여 재배치로 인한 패킷 처리의 지연을 줄일 수 있다는 결과를 보인다.

  • A centrifugal compressor of 50HP for reverse brayton cryocooler using neon as a coolent has been developed. It has relatively low total-to-total pressure ratio but mass flow rate is very small and the voting gas, neon, has greater specific heat ratio than air. It was essential to have very high rotational speed of 100,000 RPM. The efficiency of compressor has great effects on overall system and the COP of cryocooler. To meet the design requirement of the compressor efficiency and to minimized the required rotational speed, highly efficiency impeller having low specific speed was designed. To maintain the overall system efficient high, gas bearing of bump type and high speed permanent magnet synchronus motor was developed and adopted. In this paper, design and performance prediction results of the compressor impeller is presented.

Distributed ECU System Design for High Speed and High Precision Control of a Marine Engine

  • Efficient control of a marine engine requires an engine control unit (ECU) system that handles fast and precise signal processes for in-coming and out-going signals from fast running engines. In order to handle these roles, the sequential control has been adapted in the ECU system in small and medium size ship engines, which has caused high production cost and complexity of the system. Hence, this paper is focused on developing an distributed ECU system for high speed and high precision control of a marine engine by efficiently combining a CPLD chip and a microprocessor. By sharing load at the MCU with the designed CPLD chip, we could achieve in driving a marine engine with high speed and precise control so that the ECU board has been simplified and its production cost has been reduced.
