2단 경가스총에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Two-Stage Light-Gas Gun)

  • Two-stage light-gas gun은 고압실, 압축실 그리고 발사관으로 비교적 간단한 구조로 구성되며, 짧은 시간동안 초고압을 발생시키기 용이함으로 현재까지 고속충격역학, 발사체 공기역학, 재료역학 등 다양한 공학 분야에서 적용되어왔다. 본 연구는 초고압 액체 제트 분사에 적용하기 위한 기초적 연구로서, 고압실 하류에 설치된 제1격막의 파막 압력의 변화에 따른 발사체의 속도 변화 및 관내 압력 거동을 조사하기위하여, 다양한 격막을 적용하여 실험을 수행하였다. 제1격막의 파막 압력은 발사체의 속도에 지배적인 영향을 미치게 되며, 약 14 Bar이상일 경우 발사관의 압력이 압축튜브의 압력보다 크게 증가하였다.

  • 초음속풍동에서 사용하는 압력 probe의 형상에 따른 압력특성에 대하여 분석하였다. 초음속풍동의 성능을 평가할 때 시험부의 벽면정압력과 전방안정실의 전압력을 측정하고 그 비로 마하수를 계산한다. 또한 쉴리렌 가시화를 통하여 유질의 상태를 확인한다. 그러나 매우 빠른 초음속 영역에서는 경계층의 영향을 무시할 수 없기 때문에 시험부의 압력을 측정하는데 한계가 있다. 따라서 시험부의 유질이 균일한지 확인을 위해 다양한 위치에서 압력을 측정하기 위한 probe가 필요하다. 본 논문에서 몇 가지 피토형상에 대해서 실험을 진행했고, 그 결과를 비교 분석했다.

촉매 코팅 DPF의 soot loading과 유량 변화에 따른 압력강하 및 열전달에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Effects of Soot Loading and Mass Flow Rate on Pressure Drop and Heat Transfer in Catalyzed Diesel Particulate Filter)

  • A diesel particulate filter causes progressive increase in back pressure of an exhaust system due to the loading of soot particles. To maintain the pressure drop caused by DPF under proper level, a regeneration process is mandatory when excessive loading of soot is detected in the filter. It is a major reason why the relation between the amount of soot and the pressure drop in a DPF becomes crucial. On the other hand, pressure drop varies with not only the soot loading but also conditions of exhaust gas such as mass flow rate. Therefore, the relation among them becomes complicated. Furthermore, the characteristics of heat transfer in a DPF is another crucial parameter in order for the filter to avoid thermal crack during regeneration period. This study presents characteristics of pressure drop under various conditions of soot loading and mass flow rate in catalyzed diesel particulate filter. This study also shows characteristics of heat transfer in DPF when high temperature gas flows into the filter. Experiments reveal that the soot loading and mass flow rate affect characteristics pressure drop independently. Experiments also indicate that the amount of coating material has little influence on pressure drop with changes in soot loading and mass flow rate. However, increased catalyst coating may lead to the improved heat transfer which is efficiency to reduce thermal stress of the filter.

낮은 핀관에서 대체냉매의 풀비등 열전달계수 (Pool boiling heat transfer coefficients of alternative refrigerants on low fin tubes)

  • In this study, experiments were carried out to provide nucleate pool boiling heat transfer data for a plain tube and 4 different low fin tubes employing 2 refrigerant mixtures of R410A, R407C, and 12 pure fluids. Low fin tubes were machined on a 19.05mm nominal outside diameter copper block according to the manufacturer's low fin tube specifications. Cartridge heaters were used to generate uniform heat flux on the tubes. For all refrigerants, heat flux varied from 10㎾/$\m^2$ to 80㎾/$\m^2$. It is found that heat transfer coefficients(HTCs) of high vapor pressure refrigerants are usually higher than those of low pressure fluids. On the other hand, the fin effect was more prominent with low pressure refrigerants than with high pressure ones. Optimum fin density as well as the increase in heat transfer coefficient with the increase in fin density were found to be strongly fluid dependent. HTCs of Rl23, a low pressure alternative refrigerant, were similar to those of Rll while HTCs of R134a, an intermediate pressure alternative refrigerant, were roughly 20% higher than those of Rl2. Finally, HTCs of R32, R125, R143a, and R410A were all higher than those of R22 by 30~50%.

상류 분사 공동 화염 지지부를 가지는 스크램제트 엔진에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Upstream Fueled Cavity Flame-Holder Scramjet Engine)

  • The model cavity scramjet engine experiments are carried out using T3 free-piston shock tunnel. Upstream hydrogen fuel is injected before the cavity with different injection pressure. OH planar laser-induced fluorescence is used to investigate the combustion zone and piezoelectric pressure transducers are used to define the pressure rise due to the combustion. Main combustion region is a mixing layer which is between air and fuel. Also high OH fluorescence signal is appeared in the shear layer above the cavity in high equivalence ratio. From the OH signal in the cavity, this fuel injection system can be a role as a flame-holder.

  • Numerical simulations and experiments are performed to investigate the flame development inside tubes with different diameters at the same burst pressure. It is shown that generation of a stable flame play a role in self-ignition. In the smaller tube, multi-dimensional shock interaction is occurred near the diaphragm. After flame of a cross-section is developed, stable flame remains for a moment then it grows having enough energy to overcome the sudden release at the exit. Whereas shock interaction generate complex flow further downstream for a larger tube, it results in stretched flame. This dispersed flame has lower average temperature which makes it easily extinguished.

  • Many rheocasting processes had been proposed because of the difficulty of recycling, the limit of material, and the high cost of raw material in thixocasting. But, these rheocasting processes also had disadvantages such as the high initial Investment cost and the lower mechanical properties than thixocasting. In this study, a continuous fabrication of rheological material with pressure rotation equipment was newly devised to overcome the disadvantages of rheocasting process. In order to investigate the thixoformability, reheating experiments were carried out with the material fabricated by the newly devised equipment. Morphological characteristics between mechanical stirring and reheating were compared.

Mn 강재 고압용기의 파단 원인 분석 (Failure Analysis of Mn-Steel High Pressure Gas Cylinder)

  • This paper presents an investigation why Mn-steel high pressure gas cylinders have been failed in service. The fractured cylinders have been collected to identify the reason of the failure using various methods. The undamaged, new cylinder has also been tested for the base data. We examined the chemical compositions and fracture facets as well as the mechanical properties of the vessels. The microstructural observations of the fractured regions of the cylinder did not indicate the noticeable defects which might cause the failure. The experiments of cylinders on the compositinal and mechanical tests showed that the cylinder was in good shape according the standards of gas pressure vessel. The morphological analysis of the fracture surfaces concluded that the origin of the failure was the local weak segments induced by the external impact to the cylinder, which result in a sudden, fast fracture.

  • An experimental study on heat transfer characteristics near the critical pressure has been performed with an internally-heated vertical annular channel cooled by R-134a fluid. Two series of tests have been completed: (a) steady-state critical heat flux (CHF) and (b) heat transfer tests for pressure reduction transients through the critical pressure. In the present experimental range, the steady-state CHF decreases with the increase of the system pressure For a fixed inlet mass flux and subcooling, the CHF falls sharply at about 3.8 MPa and shows a trend toward converging to zero as the pressure approaches the critical point of 4.059 MPa. The CHF phenomenon near the critical pressure does not lead to an abrupt temperature rise of the heated wall because the CHF occurred at remarkably low power levels. In the pressure reduction transient experiments, as soon as the pressure passed through the critical pressure, the wall temperatures rise rapidly up to a very high value due to the occurrence of the departure from nucleate boiling. The wall temperature reaches a maximum at the saturation point of the outlet temperature, then tends to decrease gradually.
