The effects of long-term exposure of high and low humidity on thin-film humidity sensors are investigated. Five commercially available thin-film humidity sensors are initially calibrated in a humidity chamber as a reference before longterm exposure to high and low humidity. Then, the sensors are kept in a high-humidity environment (~95 %rh) for four months. After the exposure, the sensors are calibrated in the same manner as the initial calibration. Consequently, the device reading values from the humidity sensors are elevated up to about 5 %rh. Interestingly, the degree of elevation by the high-humidity exposure shows a negative correlation with the price of the humidity sensors. Humidity sensors are then kept in a low-humidity environment (~10 %rh) for another four months. After the exposure, a calibration similar to the initial calibration is performed. As a result, the device reading from humidity sensors is decreased, indicating a recovery from the effect of high-humidity exposure. The durability test conducted in this study provides experimental evidence for the use of thin-film humidity sensors in high-humidity environments such as greenhouses and food factories for a long period of time.
This paper describes the principle of humidity sensor using high frequency resistance method for Hopper-Scale that is used in RPC(Rice processing Complex) which is spreaded out in domestic, and we also understand the principle and specificity of controller and humidity sensor. After artworking the humidity sensor and controller circuit, we measure the humidity of the designed system. In this progress, we suggested substitute parts which are easy to get in domestic and also we could propose correct method of humidity detection.

The formation properties and oxidation mechanism of electrochemically oxidized porous silicon(OPS) films have been studied. To examine the humidity-sensitive properties of OPS films, surface-type and bulk-type humidity sensors were fabricated. The oxidized thickness of porous silicon layer(PSL) increases with the charge supplied during electrochemical humidity sensor shows high sensitivity at high relative humidity in low temperature. The sensitivity and linearity can be improved by optimizing a porosity of PSL. (author). refs., figs.

This study was designed to investigate effects of relative humidity on the breakthrough of charcoal tubes at a fixed vapor concentration and sampling time during mixed organic vapor sampling. A vapor generator was used to generate three different concentrations of mixed organic vapor and a stainless steel chamber was fabricated and utilized to maintain three different percentages of relative humidity while maintaining a constant temperature. The results were as follows; 1. At high relative humidity, breakthrough of mixed organic vapor occurred quickly at low vapor concentration than at high vapor concentration because of the reduced adsorption volume of charcoal tube due to humidity. 2. Breakthrough by competitive adsorption of vapors onto charcoal tube was observed at first from n-hexane having the lowest boiling point and highest vapor pressure among the three organic vapors investigated, followed by TCE. No breakthrough was observed from toluene under all experimental conditions. 3. For n-hexane, breakthrough was observed after 2 hours of sampling and breakthrough rates were increased as relative humidity increased. For TCE, breakthrough was found after 3 hours of sampling and breakthrough rates by sampling time were increased as vapor concentration increased. 4. The adsorbed amount of mixed organic vapor at breakthrough was shown to have statistically significant correlations with sampling time, relative humidity, and vapor concentration in descending order of correlation. Relative humidity and sampling time for n-hexane and sampling time and concentration for TCE were both statistically significantly correlated. 5. Relative humidity was found to affect the amount of breakthrough of mixed organic vapor and n-hexane. Among three percentages of relative humidity investigated, the amount of breakthrough at 85 % relative humidity was significantly larger than those of at lower percentages of relative humidity. No statistically significant difference was found between 25 % and 55 % relative humidity. 6. The results of multiple regression analysis between breakthrough and relative humidity, vapor concentrations showed that the coefficient of determination of mixed organic vapor was 0.263 and those of n-hexane and TCE were 0.275 and 0.189, respectively. 7. Flow rates of sampling pumps used were found to be affected by relative humidity present. At 25 %, 55 %, and 85 % relative humidity, the relative errors of sampling pump were 1.4 %, 13.4 %, and 18.6 %, respectively. In conclusion, the results of this study showed that high relative humidity could reduce the adsorption volume of charcoal tubes and subsequently increase breakthrough rates. Therefore, to prevent breakthrough when sampling mixed organic vapors, it is suggested that either sampling volume be reduced on the flow rate be lowered so as to minimize breakthrough of the most volatile organic vapor in the mixture. In addition, since the flow rates of a sampling pump can be adversely affected by high relative humidity, it is recommended to use a constant flow mode pump when sampling in the highly humid environment.
The effects of humidity on friction performance of automotive brake materials were studied using a pad-on-disk type friction tester. Three different friction materials based on a simple formulation were investigated by changing the solid lubricant graphite, MoS$_2$, and Sb$_2$S$_3$. Friction materials without solid lubricants were also examined to study the effect of other ingredients in the matrix on humidity. The friction material containing graphite was strongly affected by the humidity showing lower friction coefficient at high humidity level than other conditions. On the other hand, the friction material containing MoS$_2$exhibited higher friction coefficient at initial stage under high humidity level. The friction material without solid lubricant or with Sb$_2$S$_3$ was not affected by humidity conditions. However, the friction material containing barite showed strong speed dependence.

It is well established fact that under tropical condition, unlike polyvoltines, bivoltines are more vulnerable to various stresses i.e. hot climatic conditions of tropics, poor leaf quality and improper management during summer which are not conducive for bivoltine rearing. Therefore, attempt has been made in this study to develop promising bivoltine breeds tolerant to high temperature and high humidity conditions of the tropics. In the present study, by utilizing temperature tolerant breeds six breeding lines were made and at every generation the 5th instar larvae were exposed to high temperature and high humidity and the survived ones were back crossed with the breeds moderately tolerant to diseases were made to improve the quantitative traits. From F6 generations, alternate rearing in normal temperature and high temperature were conducted. At the end of F12 generation, it was possible to isolate three dumbbell breeds viz., HH8, HH10 and HH12 with improvement in quantitative traits. The methodologies followed for the development are discussed.
Importance: In veterinary forensic science, accurately determining the postmortem interval (PMI) is crucial for identifying the causes of animal deaths. Autolysis, a significant postmortem process, influences PMI estimation, but its relationship with humidity is not well understood. Objective: This study aimed to improve the accuracy of PMI estimates in veterinary forensic cases by looking into how different humidity levels affect autolysis in different organs of rats. Methods: The study involved 38 male rats, examining histopathological changes in their heart, liver, and pancreas. These organs were subjected to controlled humidity levels (20%, 55%, and 80%) at a constant 22℃. Tissue samples were collected at several intervals (0 h, 12 h, 24 h, 3 days, and 8 days) for comprehensive analysis. Results: Distinct autolytic characteristics in animal organs emerged under varying humidity conditions. The low-humidity environment rapidly activated autolysis more than the high-humidity environment. In addition, it was found that lower humidity caused nuclear pyknosis, cytoplasmic disintegration, and myofiber interruption. The liver, in particular, showed portal triad aggregation and hepatocyte individuation. The pancreas experienced cell fragmentation and an enlarged intracellular space. High humidity also caused the loss of striations in cardiac tissues, and the liver showed vacuolation. Under these conditions, the pancreas changed eosinophilic secretory granules. Conclusions and Relevance: The study successfully established a clear connection between the autolytic process in PMIs and relative humidity. These findings are significant for developing a more accurate and predictable method for PMI estimation in the field of veterinary forensic science.
Recently, tremendous application utilizing electrospun nanofibers have been actively reported due to its several advantages, such as high surface to volume ratio, simple fabrication and high-throughput manufacturing. In this paper, we developed highly sensitive and consistent nanofiber humidity sensor by electrospinning. The humidity sensor was fabricated by rapid electrospinning (~2 sec) $TiO_2$/PVP/LiCl mixed solution on the micro-interdigitated electrode. In order to evaluate the humidity sensing performances, we measured current response using DC bias voltage under various relative humidity levels. The results show fast response / recovery time and marginal hysteresis as well as long-term stability. In addition, with the aid of micro-interdigitated electrode, we can reduce a total resistance of the sensor and increase the total reaction area of nanofibers across the electrodes resulting in high sensitivity and enhanced current level. Therefore, we expect that the electrospun nanofiber array for humidity sensor can be feasible and promising for diverse humidity sensing application.

The wear behavior of two types of $Si_3N_4$ exposed to high and low humidity was examined at various sliding speeds, using bearing steel as disk material under pin-on-disk type sliding conditions. Higher wear rates were obtained at a high humidity than at a low humidity. As the sliding speed was increased, the wear rates were decreased and the effect of humidity on the wear rates of $Si_3N_4$ was reduced. The result that the $Si_3N_4$ pin showed higher wear rate under the high humidity condition was explained by the decrease in microhardness of $Si_3N_4$ due to the chemisorbed moisture on the pin and plowing action by the hard particles of $Fe_2O_3$ from the disk. An increase in the sliding speed is supposed to reduce the effect of humidity on the wear rate of $Si_3N_4$ by raising the average temperature of the disk surface and the local temperature at pin-disk contact point.
This study was to determine the characteristics of vapor-permeable waterproof finished fabric by the coating method. 4 different kinds of coating fabrics (A : wet, porous, polyurethane, B : dry, no porous, polyurethane, C : shape memory polyurethane and D : dry, porous polyurethane) were used, which were developed recently With this sample, moisture transport rate ($40^{\circ}C$, 45%RH & $40^{\circ}C$, 95%RH), changes of coating side's shape by washing times, water repellency rate, contracted length, qmax, heat conductivity, heat keeping rate, heat keeping rate with cotton, heat keeping rate on humidity temperature and humidity within clothing etc. were checked. And it was done in a climate chamber under $20{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, $65{\pm}5%RH$. The results of this study were as follow; In the moisture vapor transmission of sample B and C increased on high temperature and high humidity while sample A and D decreased, on this condition. Qmax rate had high relation with ground fabric's surface properties and the order was A>C>D>B. Heat conductivity had high relation with thickness and surface properties. Heat keeping rates on sweat condition showed around half percents of heat keeping rates on normal condition, but had no relation with moisture vapor transport rate. Changes of the fabric's properties by washing times were different in accordance with the construction of fabrics and the coating resin. Sample C had tow heat keeping rate on the high temperature and humidity and high heat keeping rate on the low temperature and humidity Moisture transport rate of vapor-permeable waterproof finished fabrics had high relation with the properties of ground fabrics on low humidity condition, but on the high humidity condition, it was highly related with the properties of coating resin.
