This study is to investigate experimentally the effect of refining of fly ash (FA) on the engineering properties of the cement mortar. Five different FAs are used including raw fly ash, refined fly ash, reject ash and their two different combinations. The cement mortars are fabricated with 1:1(binder to fine aggregate), 1 : 3 and 1 : 5 respectively, which are replaced 30% of FA by cement. Test results, indicated that, the flow of Ra showed lower flowability than Rf at all mixing ratios. Also in the case of Rj, it was expected to show low fluidity, but it showed flowability equal to or higher than Rf. Air contents are all formulations except Rf and Rj did not satisfy the target range. Using Ra, the refining process shows an air amount about 41% lower than Rf, in the case of Rj, it showed about 19% higher air content than Rf due to porous foreign matters inside the mortar. Compressive strength was in the early days 3 and 7, the strength was lower than that of Plain's OPC, after 28 days Rf exerts higher strength than other FAs, it was confirmed that higher strength than OPC can be secured at a mixing ratio of 1: 1 and 1: 3. For frost resistance, the use of unrefined FA resulted in decrease of frost resistance sharply due to loss of air content by the use of unrefined FA. Therefore, it is considered that the use of high quality FA through refining process will contribute positively to the economical formulation of concrete and the stability of the structure.

In the evaluation method of KS on the activity factor of fly ash, same amount of cement should be replaced with fly ash. Therefore, contradictory effects on concrete strength exist, i. e. strength decease due to low content of cement and strength increase of strength due to filling-pore-function of fly ash. European Committee for Standardization (CEN) specifies the method 1 to 4. adding fly ash without reducing the content of cement, for the evaluation method on activity factor of fly ash. This study investigates the applicability of the method 2 of CEN to mix design of concrete. The followings are derived ; There is a key ratio of f)y ash mixing which enhances the incremental ratio of mixing water to improve fluidity of mortar. The incremental ratio of mixing water is maximized about 11% ratio of fly ash mixing. Compressive strength most slightly increases at that ratio of fly ash mixing. Activity factor of fly ash increases as water-cement ratio becomes low and contents of fly ash becomes high. Moreover, quality of fly ash and condition of mix design affect the applicable amount of fly ash and available range of water-cement ratio. However, this method has some problems for practical purpose because activity factors of fly ash for some cases are over 1.0. Further research should be conducted to develop more useful method of evaluating activity factor of fly ash.
The steel slag, a by-product which is produced by refining pig iron during the manufacture of steel, is mainly used as road materials after aging. It is necessary to age steel slag for long time in air because the reaction with water and free-CaO in steel slag could make the expansion of volume. This problem prevents steel slag from being used as aggregate for concrete. However, steel slag used in this study was controled by a air-jet method which rapidly cools substance melted at a high temperature. The rapidly-chilled method would prevent from generation of free-CaO in steel slag. This study dealt with the influence of the using rate of rapidly-chilled steel slag on flow, dosage of SP, W/C ratio, and strength of mortar by statistical experimental design. Also, the results of this experiment were approved by statistical analysis methods, such as analysis of variance and F-testing. As results of F-testing, this paper proved at $1\%$ level of significance that the more the using rate of rapidly-chilled steel slag increased, the more this affected the enhancement of flow, the decrease of dosage of SP and W/C ratio, and the development of compressive strength. Also, considering the fluidity and compressive strength of mortar, it is desirable to use $75\%$ of rapidly-chilled steel slag for river sand.

The aim of the research is to analyze a feasibility of rapid evaluation method for cement fineness by the relation analysis between density measurement using hydrometer and fineness of ordinary Portland cement. Additionally, based on the commercially available cement product, relation between a series of fundamental properties of cement mortar and fineness of cement powder was analyzed. As an experimental result, the actually measured fineness value of cement powder showed a good correlation with the fineness value obtained by hydrometer while there was poor correlation with the fineness value on specification. Especially, the density measurement in three minutes showed the closest relation with cement powder fineness, thus rapid quality evaluation of cement powder can be possible by using the regression equation obtained from the three minutes density measurement. Additionally, there was a high relation between cement powder fineness with a fundamental properties of the cement mortar such as fluidity, air content, setting time, and strength development.

Recently, the cement industries brought very severe environment problems such as resource depletion and global warming with massive carbon dioxide during its production. The number of cases using industrial by-products such as the ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) in concrete mixtures is increasing to resolve the environmental issue. GGBFS is mainly used in the range between 20 to 50% to replace cement, but nowadays lots of researches are carried out to develop the alkali-activated slag (AAS) concrete with no cement. In this study, the early age properties of alkali activated slag (AAS) mortar are investigated to obtain the fundamental data for AAS concrete application to structural members. The experimental variables were the water-binder ratios of 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5 and NaOH as the alkali activator of 4%, 8%, and 12% by the mass of GGBFS, and compressive strength, flow, setting time, and ultrasonic pulse velocity of AAS mortars were measured and analyzed. It is found from the test results that as the normal concrete the lower W/B, the higher compressive strength. However, superplasticizer has to be used for producing high strength AAS concrete because the workability of AAS mortar are significantly lowered.
This study was the contrast of the compressive strength, the tensile strength, the reducing ratio and the flow of mortar using dispersing agent and high fluid admix. 1. The admix ratio of chemical admixtures espressing maximum strength appeared the same result high fluid admix SP was 0.6%, the dispersing agents LG and C211 were 0.2%, SK was 0.3%, C376 was 0.5%. But two or three times more than standard quantity made the strength's fast lowness, which influenced bad to wateriness and retard the soli-dification. 2. When proper quantity of chemical admixture was used, the increment of compressive strength was as follows. High fluid admix SP was 40.7% and the average increasing rate of dispersing agents(C211 was 19.5%, LG was 19.1%, C376 was 17.9%) was 18.7% more than normal mortar in the codition of 7 days. Also, in the condition of 28 days, high fluid admix SP was about 24.4% and the average of dispersing agents(LG was 21.1%, C211 was 16.4%, SK was 11.1%, C376 was 7.6%) was 14.1%. 3. When proper quantity of chemical admixture was used, the increment of tensile strength was as follows. High fluid admixture SP was 26.6% and the average increasing agents(SK was 16.0%, C376 was 14.7%, LG was 10%, C211 was 5.8%) was 11.6%. Also, in the condition of 28 days, high fluid admix SP was 16.5% and the average increasing rate of dispersing agents(LG was 19.1%, SK was 10.6%, C211 was 10.1%, C376 was 8.7%) was 12.1%. 4. As for the reducing ratio of each dispersing agent, he flow of mortar was less than the slump of concrete. That is; the reducing ratio of concrete was 15% adding each dispersing agent, but the reducing ratio of mortar was in the range of from 5.8% to 13.5% in 1 : 1 mixture, from 7.6% to 14.2% in 1 : 2, from 9.5% to 18.8% in 1 : 3. 5. The fluidity of each chemical admixture was as follows. High fluid admix SP in the condition of 1: 1 and 1 : 2 showed the best result than other dispersing agent and 1 : 3 showed the same result like other agents. Therefore these good dispersing agents were suitable in the prepact concrete construction using intrusion mortar.

This research presents the results of an investigation on the characteristic of multi-component blended high fluidity mortars. The binder was blended ordinary Portland cement(OPC), ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS), calcium sulfoaluminate(CSA) and ultra rapid setting cement(URSC). The GGBFS was replaced by OPC from 30%(P7 series), 50%(P5 series) and 70%(P3 series), CSA and URSC was 10% or 20% mass. The superplasticizer of polycarboxylate type were used. A constant water-to-binder ratio(w/b)=0.35 was used for all mixtures. Test were conducted for mini slump, setting time, V-funnel, compressive strength and drying shrinkage. According to the experimental results, the contents of superplasticizer, V-funnel and compressive strength increases with an increase in CSA or URSC contents for all mixtures. Moreover, the setting time and drying shrinkage ratio decrease with and increase in CSA or URSC. CSA decreased dry shrinkage but URSC had less effect. However, the mixed binders of CSA and URSC had a large effect of reducing drying shrinkage by complementary effect. This is effective for improving the initial strength of URSC, and CSA is effective for the expansion and improvement of long-term strength.
The min aim of thls study was to evaluate the effect of particle slze of the fly ash as a
cement additive. Experimental work was carried out with three different sizes of fly ash. 18.58,
8.95 and 4.02{$mu}m$ in average radius. Namely, the effect of particle size variation of fly ash on the
physical properties of cement paste was investigated.
The jluidity was decreased with increasing the addition of fly ash to cement paste regardless
of the particle size variation. The decrement of the fluidity of the pulverized fly ash was higher
than that of the spherical fly ash. On the other hand, the pozzolan reactivity increased with lowering
particle size. In the case of specimens with 5% up to 10% addition of fly ash having a particle
size of 4.02{$mu}m$. the compressive strength was increased as compared with the plain
specimens before curing for 28 days and showed higher value above 800kg /$cm^2$ when cured for
60 days. This increased compressive strength was ascribed to both the closer packlng of fine particles
and the pozzolan reactivity of fly ash. These results were comfirmed by measuring both the porosity
of the specimens and Ca(OH ), contents remained in specimens.
This work showed that could be effectively ut~lized as a blending material without any de
crease in the strength of early hydration stage if we can control the particle size of fly ashes by
sizing or pulverizing.

Blast Furnace slag a pigiron waste that is produced more than 800 thousand tons per year, and micronized double quenching blast furnace slag improves flexibility of concrete, and even shows improvement effect of long-term intensity. However, the concrete that used micronized double quenching blast furnace slag is restricted in its use because of many problems to assure early intensity. Even micronized blast furnace slag can assure its early intensity of concrete when maximizing, and is considered that can be applied in high strength of blast furnace slag as an alternation material for Silica-fume that depends on overall import. Hereby this paper is revised activity index and fluidity of mortar that used Nano Slag that is produced by rotten Nano crush equipment to propose its size, and possible utility of Nano Slag that was produced by blast furnace slag made in Korea as an alternation material, with the conclusion as following. 1. To measure micronized Nano slag, it is judged that it should be in progress with BET method that is based on micronized Silica-fume for concrete. 2. As a result, the test based on KS L ISO 679 is shown to satisfy the basic additive size of KS F 2563 and of KS F 2567, and to determine new combination of stipulations. 3. The strength development of Nano Slag was shown excellent in the daily initial installment of 1, 3, 7 days against the basic additive. This is judged that contains CaO controlling initial strength against Silica-fume, and contributes to higher fineness than the basic blast furnace slag 1 type.
