A data acquisition and processing system for measuring the current collection signals of the Korean High-speed Railway is developed. The current collection system is composed of a pantograph and the overhead catenary that supplies electrical power to the train through the pantograph. The system simultaneously measures the signals generated at the interface between the catenary and the pantograph through the accelerometers, load cells and strain gauges placed at various locations. The on-track test data are processed to evaluate the current collection reliability. The fiequency analysis of the signals reveals the presence of several structural vibration modes in the pantograph, as well as the components arising from the periodicity in the structure of the catenary and pantograph at the interface. The feasibility of predicting the contact performance from the measured signals is also demonstrated.
This paper presents new cutting force measuring system for milling process. Usually, tool dynamometer is the most appropriate measuring tool in an analysis of cutting mechanism. High price and limited space, however, make it difficult to be in-situ system for controllable milling process. Although an alternative using AC current of servomotor has been suggested, it is unsuitable for cutting force control because of low bandwidth and noise. We suggest new cutting force measuring system, using two load cell placed between moving table and nut of ballscrew, and modelled on the system statically and dynamically. And to verify the accuracy of the proposed system, a series of carefully conducted experiments were carried out. Experiment results show that models are in reasonably good agreement with the experiment data.
This paper describes the dynamic characteristics depending on installation condition between a pantograph and an OCL (Overhead Contact Line) on a new high speed line in Korea. The current collection performance between the pantograph and the OCL was tested during train operation from Suseo to Jije stations. The current collection performance is evaluated based on the duration of an arc by using an arcing measurement system. The system consists of an optical sensor for measuring the duration of an arc and a camera for monitoring current collection performance. An arcing duration is defined as a percentage of arcing in international standards. This test aims to analyze the locations of repetitive arcing depending on installation conditions of OCLs on a new high speed line in order to use the result as reference data for correct construction and maintenance.
One of the ever-increasing demands on the performances of heterodyne interferometers is to improve the measurement resolution, of which current state-of-the-art reaches the region of sub-nanometers. We propose a new scheme of phase-measuring electronics that reduces the measurement resolution without further increase in clock speed. Our scheme adopts a super-heterodyne technique that lowers the original beat frequency to a level of 1 MHz by mixing it with electrically generated reference signal. The technique enables us to measure the phase of Doppler shift with a resolution of 1.58 nanometer at a sampling rate of 1 MHz. To avoid the undesirable decrease in the maximum measurable speed caused by the lowered beat frequency, a special from of frequency up-down counting technique is combined with the super-heterodyning. This alloys performing required phase unwrapping simply by using programmable digital gates without 2$\pi$ ambiguities up to the maximum velocity of 2.35 m/s.
This paper proposes a new high-voltage measuring system that is able to provide current enough to charge a storage battery for a motor driving a load switch, and detect each phase voltage and phase angle in three phase distribution line accurately. In order to develop the reliable voltage measuring system we had designed and manufactured condenser-type bushing having good characteristics for temperature on account of using epoxy resin as dielectric material, and investigated the variation characteristics of capacitance via variation of applied voltage. The experiment results show that the proposed condenser has good characteristics to environmental changes.
An inverter-driven induction motor is used as the traction motor for a high speed drive system that required safety, reliabillity, performance, compact size owing to the space and weight alloted for attaching to train, etc. particularly it is possible to happen the saturation effects of flux density at constant voltage-frequency region and then increase very higher than the at lowed capacity of no-load current and temperature in any case. therefore the optimum design of core, optimum voltage-frequency ratio, adoption of high grade magnetic core have been developed and researched for preventing these problems. this paper show the saturation effects of traction rotor by measuring the induced voltage of search coil at stator teeth and presents optimum voltage-frequency ratio as well as optimum core design through the comparison with efficiency, power factor, load current and no-load current for korea high speed train.
Rogowski coil is made having no ferromagnetic material in a core. So the coil cannot be driven into saturation. This result in that Rogowski coils may be calibrated at relatively low currents. and used with confidence at very high currents. However the lowest level of current that can be measured is limited by the sensitivity of the voltage measuring instrument and system noise. Therefore. geometrical effects were investigated in order to measure high sensitivity of low level current and the significant source of error was examined as well. In the results, the source of error was associated with coil designs. i.e. shape and uniformity of coil and a geometrical location of current source inside and outside of the Rogowski coil.
Recently, with the development of NC and CNC machine tools and the high labor wage, the cutting process requires the high speed and automatic system which uses industrial robots and the flexible manufacturing system(FMS) that combines several machine tools. In this system, the whole system can be influenced by just one of the machin tools. So it needs to detect a problem and to solve it immediately In in-process state. The monitoring system through measuring the motor current with current sensor has been attracting the attention of lots of researchers view of its low cost and flexibility. By using the pattern discriminant with the detected three-phase-current signal, that is, $I_{RMS}$, a system which can monitor and analyze abnormal machining process condition of the workpiece during the machining will be able to be developed in this research.h.

In a AC motor used by three phase inverter, the phase current must be measured to control instantaneous torque. It is expensive to use current sensor for measuring current in low cost motor. So, shunt resistor is used to measure current. But, the method sensing the phase current using shunt resistor cannot perform the vector control in high speed because of the area that impossible to restore three phase current. In this paper, predictive current is proposed for reconstructing the current in the impossible current sensing area that reduce the current ripple in TSSI(Three shunt sensing inverter) for PMSM.
