Turnout is a mechanical installation enabling railway trains to be guided from one track to another at a railway junction. A movable nose crossing frog is a device used at a railway turnout to eliminate the gap at the common crossing (High manganese, block, assembly crossing)which can cause impact damage, noise and vibration. Our government has a plan speed up of conventional line to 250km/h semi-high speed. We had already developed flexible turnout with fixed crossing(High manganese) and SFC fastening system can cover in the semi-high speed line In this study is about development of the movable nose crossing turnout available Semi-high speed line on concrete track. This paper describes about geometry, attack angle, bending stress at the nose, switching force, safety of continuous welded long rails. This movable nose crossing turnout is expected greatly increases passing speed of turnout in national railway.
As the scale factor of model propellers utilized in cavitation test is about 40, it is difficult to find out practical countermeasures against the small area erosions on the blade tip region throughout model erosion tests. In this study, a partial propeller blade model was used for the observation of cavitation pattern for the eroded propeller. A partial propeller blade model was manufactured from 0.7R to tip with expanded profile and with adjustable device of angle of attack. Reynold's number of a partial propeller blade model is 7 times larger than that of a model propeller. Also, anti-singing edge and application of countermeasures to partial propeller blade model which produced in large scale can be more practical than a model propeller. For the observation of cavitation at high Reynold's number, high speed cavitation tunnel was used. To find out the most severe erosive blade position during a revolution, cavitation observation tests were carried out at 5 blade angle positions.
Separation control has been performed using synthetic jets on airfoil at high angle of attack. Computed results demonstrated that stall characteristics and control surface performance could be substantially improved by resizing separation vortices. It was observed that the actual flow control mechanism and flow structure is fundamentally different depending on the range of synthetic jet frequency. For low frequency range, small vortices due to synthetic jet penetrated to the large leading edge separation vortex, and as a result, the size of the leading edge vortex was remarkably reduced. For high frequency range, however, small vortex did not grow up enough to penetrate into the leading edge separation vortex. Instead, synthetic jet firmly attached the local flow and influenced the circulation of the virtual airfoil shape which is the combined shape of the main airfoil with the separation vortex. Theses results show the characteristic of unsteady flow of single synthetic jet. Beside, we researched on multi-array synthetic jet to obtain applicable synthetic jet velocity. Multi-location synthetic jet is proposed to eliminate small vortex on suction surface of airfoil. With the results, we concluded that the flow around airfoil is stable by high frequency synthetic jet with elimination of small vortex and confirmation of stable flow. Moreover, performance of multi-array/multi-location synthetic jet can be improved by changing phase angle of multi-location synthetic jet.

In this study, nonlinear static and dynamic aeroelastic analyses for a high-aspect-ratio wing have been performed. To achieve these aims, the transonic small disturbance (TSD) theory for the aerodynamic analysis and the large deflection beam theory considering a geometrical nonlinearity for the structural analysis are applied, respectively. For the coupling between fluid and structure, the transformation of a displacement from the structural mesh to the aerodynamic grid is performed by a shape function which is used for the finite element and the inverse transformation of force by work equivalent load method. To validate the current method, the present analysis results of a high-aspect-ratio wing are compared with the experimental results. Static deformations in the vertical and torsional directions caused by an angle of attack and gravity loading are compared with experimental results. Also, static and dynamic aeroelastic characteristics are investigated. The comparisons of the flutter speed and frequency between a linear and nonlinear analysis are presented.

Thin circular-arc blade is often used as a guide vane, a deflecting vane, or a rotating blade of low pressure axial-flow turbomachine because of its easy manufacture. Ordinary design of the blade elements of these machines is done by use of the carpet diagrams for a cascade of circular-arc blades. However, the application of the carpet diagrams is limited to relatively low cambered blade operating under optimum inlet flow conditions. In order to extend the applicable range, additional design data is necessary. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a promising method to get these data. In this paper, two-dimensonal cascade performances of circular-arc blade are widely analyzed with CFD. The results have been compared with the results of experiment and potential theory, and useful information has been obtained. Turning angle and total pressure loss coefficients are satisfactorily predicted for lowly cambered blade. For high camber angle of $67^{\circ}$, the CFD results agree with experiment for the angle of attack less than that for shockless inlet condition.
A neural network based adaptive reconfigurable flight controller is presented for a class of discrete-time nonlinear flight systems in the presence of variations of aerodynamic coefficients and control effectiveness decrease caused by control surface damage. The proposed adaptive nonlinear controller is developed making use of the backstepping technique for the angle of attack, sideslip angle, and bank angle command following without two time separation assumption. Feedforward multilayer neural networks are implemented to guarantee reconfigurability for control surface damage as well as robustness to the aerodynamic uncertainties. The main feature of the proposed controller is that the adaptive controller is developed under the assumption that all of the nonlinear functions of the discrete-time flight system are not known accurately, whereas most previous works on flight system applications even in continuous time assume that only the nonlinear functions of fast dynamics are unknown. Neural networks learn through the recursive weight update rules that are derived from the discrete-time version of Lyapunov control theory. The boundness of the error states and neural networks weight estimation errors is also investigated by the discrete-time Lyapunov derivatives analysis. To show the effectiveness of the proposed control law, the approach is i]lustrated by applying to the nonlinear dynamic model of the high performance aircraft.
Euler and Navier-Stokes flow analyses for helicopter rotor in hover were performed as low and high fidelity analysis models respectively for the future multidisciplinary design optimization(MDO). These design-oriented analyses possess several attributes such as variable complexity, sensitivity-computation capability and modularity which analysis models involved in MDO are recommended to provide with. To realize PC-based analyses for both fidelity models, reduction of flow domain was made by appling farfield boundary condition based on 3-dimensional point sink with simple momentum theory and also periodic boundary condition in the azimuthal direction. Correlations of thrust, torque and their sensitivities between low and high complexity models were tried to evaluate the applicability of these analysis models in MDO process. It was found that the low-fidelity Euler analysis model predicted inaccurate sensitivity derivatives at relatively high angle of attack.
In the traditional buffeting response analysis method, the spanwise incomplete correlation of buffeting forces is always assumed to be same as that of the incident wind turbulence and the action of the signature turbulence is ignored. In this paper, three typical bridge decks usually adopted in the real bridge engineering, a single flat box deck, a central slotted box deck and a two-separated paralleled box deck, were employed as the investigated objects. The wind induced pressure on these bridge decks were measured via a series of wind tunnel pressure tests of the sectional models. The influences of the wind speed in the tests, the angle of attack, the turbulence intensity and the characteristic distance were taken into account and discussed. The spanwise root coherence of buffeting forces was also compared with that of the incidence turbulence. The signature turbulence effect on the spanwise root coherence function was decomposed and explained by a new empirical method with a double-variable model. Finally, the formula of a sum of rational fractions that accounted for the signature turbulence effect was proposed in order to fit the results of the spanwise root coherence function. The results show that, the spanwise root coherence of the drag force agrees with that of incidence turbulence in some range of the reduced frequency but disagree in the mostly reduced frequency. The spanwise root coherence of the lift force and the torsional moment is much larger than that of the incidence turbulence. The influences of the wind speed and the angle of attack are slight, and they can be ignored in the wind tunnel test. The spanwise coherence function often involves several narrow peaks due to the signature turbulence effect in the high reduced frequency zone. The spanwise coherence function is related to the spanwise separation distance and the spanwise integral length scales, and the signature turbulence effect is related to the deck-width-related reduced frequency.
This study deals with the experimental and numerical investigations to design the high performance otter board. Experiment was carried out to determine the most effective slot size of single-slot cambered otter board in the circulation water channel of BAEK KYUNG IND. Co. LTD. Numerical analysis was done by the commercial CFD code, FLUENT, to provide some valuable physical interpretations and finally to design the otter board section by numerical method. The major results are as follows ; 1. In experiment, the maximum lift and drag coefficients of simple cambered type otterboard were 1.41, 0.55, respectively, at the angle of attack $28^\circ$, while those of slot one with slot size 0.02C (C denotes the chord length) were 1.72, 0.42 at the angle of attack $24^\circ$. 2. The hydrodynamic characteristics depending upon slot size shows the greatest at 0.02C of the slot size. 3. Numerical results well visualized the streamlines, pressure fields, and speed vectors of a simple cambered and slot cambered otter board with slot size 0.02C. The slot cambered one with slot size 0.02C was shown that pressure field was distributed moderately on front and back side of otter board. And, the delay and decrease of separation were favorably achieved by flow through slot. 4. Computed result on the pattern of hydrodynamic field and the values of $C_L$ and $C_D$ by the commercial CFD code, FLUENT, show almost the same as those of the experimental result.
