We studied the sea level variations at Kerguelen island in the South Indian Ocean with ARGOS data and meteorological data during about 1 year(May 1993~April 1994) through using filter, spectral analysis, coherency and phase, and found characteristics for the two oceanic signal levels(detided oceanic signal level, h$_{detided}$ and seasonal oceanic level, h$_{corr.ib}$). The forms of atmospheric pressure variations are good agreed to between ARGOS data and meteorological data in the observed periods. This Kerguelen area shows the inflow of an air temperature(gain of a radiant heat) into the sea water and the stagnation of high atmospheric pressure bands in summer, and the outflow of a sea water temperature(loss of sensible and latent heat) toward the atmosphere and the stagnation of low atmospheric pressure bands in winter. The seasonal difference of sea level between summer and winter is about 1.6cm. Both the detided oceanic signal level(h$_{detided}$) variation and the inverted barometer level(h$_{ib}$) variation have a strong correlation for T>1day period bands. The characteristics of h$_{detided}$ variation are not decided by the influence of any meteorological distributions (atmospheric pressure), but the influence of other factors(bottom water temperature) for T>2days periods bands. h$_{corr.ib}$ plays a very important role of sea level variation in the observed periods (especially T>about 180days period bands).

The water ejector is a low pressure high flow rate volumetric pump. It utilize the energy of a low mass flow, high velocity stream to induce a large mass flow, low velocity stream. In addition, it has a very good resistances to cavitation compared to the other type of pumps, and the maintenance cost is practically nil. There has been enormous energy loss to supply the upper part water of dam which has large potential energy as mere irrigation water in domestic multipurpose dam. The new type of energy saving system which developed through the present study can economizes over 950,000 kWh per year by mixing the upper part water of dam with the waste water by the large water ejector. This paper estimates the economical efficiency of the new type of irrigation water pumping system, and further more, represents the change of performance characteristics of large water ejector, which was adapted to this system, according to the fluctuation of upper water level that seasonally changes.
In this study, the nonpoint sources were evaluated by calculating the Nadonggang basin regional water quality and nonpoint source pollution load discharged. And were selected the banks of first administration based on the results and the direction of the next administration. As a results of estimating the water quality about BOD concentration in the mid influence area in the Nakdonggang basin, it was founded that 10 sites for 'Ia' water quality level, 6 sites for 'lb' water quality level, 5 sites for 'II' water quality level, 1 sites for 'I' water quality level. The estimation of COD concentration in the mid influence area, It showed that 9 sites for 'Ib' water quality level, 6 sites for 'II' water quality level, 6 sites for 'III' water quality level, 1 site for 'IV' water quality level. The assessment of water quality made Mid influence area of Gumhogang, Nakdong Goryung, Nakdong Milyang and Namgang selected as the mid influence area of high pollution. And delivery loads of nonpoint sources were calculated for mid influence area in Nakdonggang basin(max delivery load : 17,706.7 kg/day for Gumhogang influence area). As the result of calculating NPS(nonpoint sources) delivery load and water quality at influence area in Nakdonggang basin, Gumhogang influence area was selected as an area for management priority among nonpoint sources.
We have performed high-level quantum mechanical calculation for multiple proton transfer in HOCl + HCl and $H_2O$ + $ClONO_2$ on water clusters, which can be used as a model of the reactions on ice surface in stratospheric
clouds. Multiple proton transfer on ice surface plays crucial role in these reactions. The structures of the clusters with 0-3 water molecules and the transition state structures for the multiple proton transfer have been calculated. The energies and barrier heights of the proton transfer were calculated at various levels of theory including multi-coefficient correlated quantum mechanical methods (MCCM) that have recently been developed. The transition state structures and the predicted reaction mechanism depend very much on the level of theory. In particular, the HF level can not correctly predict the TS structure and barrier heights, so the electron correlation should be considered appropriately.
The groundwater level varies according to the characteristics and composite materials of aquifer. In this study, specific yield and reaction factor which are the major two hydrogeological parameters in the WTF(Water Table Fluctuation) method were estimated and analyzed spatial characteristics. 8 groundwater level stations which have enough measuring period and high correlation with rainfall in the Hancheon watershed were used. The results showed that specific yield was randomly distributed and reaction factor showed inverse trend with altitude. If the enough data were collected, reaction factor according to altitude in ungauged points could be estimated by using these parameter characteristics.

A series of Quasi-Elastic Neutron Scattering (QENS) experiments helps us to understand the single-particle (hydrogen atom) dynamics of a globular protein and its hydration water and strong coupling between them. We also performed Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations on a realistic model of the hydrated hen-egg Lysozyme powder having two proteins in the periodic box. We found the existence of a Fragile-to-Strong dynamic Crossover (FSC) phenomenon in hydration water around a protein occurring at TL=$225{\pm}5K$ by analyzing Intermediate Scattering Function (ISF). On lowering of the temperature toward FSC, the structure of hydration water makes a transition from predominantly the High Density Liquid (HDL) form, a more fluid state, to predominantly the Low Density Liquid (LDL) form, a less fluid state, derived from the existence of a liquid?liquid critical point at an elevated pressure. We showed experimentally and confirmed theoretically that this sudden switch in the mobility of the hydration water around a protein triggers the dynamic transition (so-called glass transition) of the protein, at a temperature TD=220 K. Mean Square Displacement (MSD) is the important factor to show that the FSC is the key to the strong coupling between a protein and its hydration water by suggesting TL${\fallingdotseq}$TD. MD simulations with TIP4P force field for water were performed to understand hydration level dependency of the FSC temperature. We added water molecules to increase hydration level of the protein hydration water, from 0.30, 0.45, 0.60 and 1.00 (1.00 is the bulk water). These confirm the existence of the FSC and the hydration level dependence of the FSC temperature: FSC temperature is decreased upon increasing hydration level. We compared the hydration water around Lysozyme, B-DNA and RNA. Similarity among those suggests that the FSC and this coupling be universal for globular proteins, biopolymers.

It is one of the most critical steps identifying impaired waterbodies exactly in the selection of target water quality indicators for the management of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs). Excess ratio and excess level were applied and analyzed by the stream zone basis in order to evaluate water impairment for Nakdong, Geum, Youngsan and Seomjin rivers. Each river basin was divided into stream zones in the light of its watershed and waterbody characteristics. Selected water quality parameters discussed in this study were pH, DO, BOD, COD, SS, T-P, T-Coli and F-Coli. The excess ratios of the water quality parameters were used to discriminate water bodies that did not meet water quality standards. The excess levels were used to classify the degradation of water quality. The excess ratios and the excess levels to the water quality criteria of the medium influence areas were used for each stream zone. The results indicate that the excess ratios and the excess levels are varied on the stream zone in each river basin. Three parameters, pH, DO and SS, met water quality standards in all stream zones. The other five parameters indicated very high excess ratios in most waterbodies, and especially T-P and T-Coli revealed to be very high excess levels in some waterbodies. These parameters could be considered as major target indicators for the management of TMDLs.
Trihalomethane(THMs) levels in drinking tap water, indoor swimming pool water and industrial effluent in Kunsan area were surveyed in this study. During experimental period, the monthly averages of THMs in drinking tap water from Keumkang wide-area supply ranged from 15$\mu\textrm{g}$/ι/to 50 $\mu\textrm{g}$ showing the highest level in summer. 3 indoor swimming pools showed the monthly average levels of THMs formation ranging from 8$\mu\textrm{g}$/ι/to 20$\mu\textrm{g}$/ι and the pool under public management seemed to maintain its water quality more stable than those under private management THMs concentrations in the effluents. discharged from 10 manufacturing companies, ranged from N.D. to 95$\mu\textrm{g}$/ι and it was estimated that the overall THMs level discharged front those manufacturing companies is not high, reflecting the traces recorded for most effluents. The composition ratios of individual THMs for industrial effluents showed a difference from those for drinking water and swimming pool water, along with their wide variations according to the company and relatively high composition ratios of Br substituents.
This study investigated the relationship between land cover and the water quality variables in the rivers, which are located in the Yamaguchi prefecture of West Japan. The study area included 12 catchments covering $5,809\;Km^2$. pH, dissolved oxygen, suspended solid, E. coli, total nitrogen and total phosphorus were considered as river water quality variables. Satellite data was applied to generate land cover map. For linking alterations in land cover (at whole catchment and buffer zone levels) and the river water quality variables, multiple regression modeling was applied. The results indicated that non-spatial attribute (%) of land cover types (at whole catchment level) consistently explained high amounts of variation in biological oxygen demand (72%), suspended solid (72%) and total nitrogen (87%). At buffer zone-scale, multiple regression models that were developed to represent the linkage between the alterations of land cover and the river water quality variables could also explain high level of total variations in suspended solid (86%) and total nitrogen (91%).
In the Cheju Island, there are high salinity water yield in the coastal area. There are various reason; the main reason is low-groundwater level by the structure of geology, and over-yielding etc. This study analysis water quality, the distribution of high salinity wells. 16 sample well logged the electronic geology survey. As result of distribution of Cl$^-$ is the East Area is high than other areas. Water quality test data divides 6 group by sea level of well bottom: over Om, Om~-1Om, -10~-20m, -20~-30m, -30~-40m, under -40m. According collect data of Kriging, and logged the electronic geology survey, and other survey are related chlorine(Cl$^-$). The map of Cl$^-$ distribution was made. Bukcheju Gun, Hallim Up, there are 2 wells prevent high salinity water. Both of well are effective grout sill salinity water intrusion aquifer.
