  • Purpose: In this paper, we will discuss 1) prioritizing databases to be integrated; 2) which data elements should be emphasized in federated database integration; and 3) the degree of efficiency in the integration. This paper aims to lay the groundwork for building data governance by presenting guidelines for database integration using metrics to identify and evaluate the capabilities of the UK's air quality databases. Methods: This paper intends to perform relative efficiency analysis using Data Envelope Analysis among the multi-criteria decision-making methods. In federated database integration, it is important to identify databases with high integration efficiency when prioritizing databases to be integrated. Results: The outcome of this paper aims not to present performance indicators for the implementation and evaluation of data governance, but rather to discuss what criteria should be used when performing 'federated integration'. Using Data Envelope Analysis in the process of implementing intelligent data governance, authors will establish and present practical strategies to discover databases with high integration efficiency. Conclusion: Through this study, it was possible to establish internal guidelines from an integrated point of view of data governance. The flexiblity of the federated database integration under the practice of the data governance, makes it possible to integrate databases quickly, easily, and effectively. By utilizing the guidelines presented in this study, authors anticipate that the process of integrating multiple databases, including the air quality databases, will evolve into the intelligent data governance based on the federated database integration when establishing the data governance practice in the railway industry.

  • This study is aimed to validate errors for detected suspicious temperature data using various quality control procedures for 61 weather stations in the Republic of Korea. The quality control algorithms for temperature data consist of four main procedures (high-low extreme check, internal consistency check, temporal outlier check, and spatial outlier check). Errors of detected suspicious temperature data are judged by examining temperature data of nearby stations, surface weather charts, hourly temperature data, daily precipitation, and daily maximum wind direction. The number of detected errors in internal consistency check and spatial outlier check showed 4 days (3 stations) and 7 days (5 stations), respectively. Effective and objective methods for validation errors through this study will help to reduce manpower and time for conduct of quality management for temperature data.

We also analyze the characteristics of content quality factors which are associate with the user response pattern. The analysis results will provide some implications to develop strategies and schematic plans for the operator of regional marketing on the SNS. Design/methodology/approach This study used mixed methods to verify the effects and responses of social media contents on the users who have concerns about regional events such as local festival, cultural events, and city tours etc. Big data analysis was conducted with the quantitative data from regional government SNSs. The data was collected through web crawling in order to analyze the social media contents. We especially analyzed the contents duration time and peak level time. This study also analyzed the characteristics of contents quality factors using expert evaluation data on the social media contents. Finally, we verify the relationship between the contents quality factors and user response types by cross correlation analysis. Findings According to the big data analysis, we could find some content life cycle which can be explained through empirical distribution with peak time pattern and left skewed long tail. The user response patterns are dependent on time and contents quality. In addition, this study confirms that the level of quality of social media content is closely relate to user interaction and response pattern. As a result of the contents response pattern analysis, it is necessary to develop high quality contents design strategy and content posting and propagation tactics. The SNS operators need to develop high quality contents using rich-media technology and active response contents that induce opinion leader on the SNS.

  • An experimental study was carried out to measure the heat transfer coefficient in flow boiling to mixtures of HFC-l34a and HCFC-123 in a uniformly heated horizontal tube. Tests were run at a pressure of 0.6 MPa and in the ranges of heat flux 1-50 kw/$m^2$, vapor quality 0-100 % and mass velocity 150-600 kg/$m^2$s. Heat transfer coefficients of mixture were less than the interpolated values between pure fluids both in the low quality region where the nucleate boiling is dominant and in the high quality region where the convective evaporation is dominant. Measured data of heat transfer are compared to a few available correlations proposed for mixtures. The correlation of Jung et. al. satisfactorily predicted the present data, but the data in lower quality was overpredicted and underpredicted the high quality data. The correlation of Kandlikar considerably underpredicted most of the data. and showed the mean deviation of 35.1%.
