이원 추진 시스템 고압 시험시의 파열 안전성 고찰 (Rupture Safety Assesment of Bipropellant Propulsion System at High Pressure Testing)

  • 정지궤도위성인 통신해양기상위성은 2010년 발사 예정인데, 관련된 일련의 성능 시험중에는 수백 기압의 헬륨 가스로 채워진 추진계 탱크의 고압 내구 시험도 포함되어 있다. 이 논문에서는 시험 시스템에 최악의 사고가 일어날 경우를 대비하여 그 위험도를 계산하여 보았다. 두 가지 시나리오가 있는데, 첫째는 310 기압의 헬륨 탱크가 현재의 시험챔버에서 일시에 파열하는 경우, 둘째는 116 기압의 감압된 헬륨 탱크가 방탄유리로 보호되고 있는 방에서 파열하는 경우를 가정해 보았다. 폭발파 전파 이론과 전산 수치 모사를 통하여, 제한된 공간에서 반사되는 파동의 역학을 매우 복잡한 비정상 유동 물리에 대하여 분석하였다.

  • The diesel engine and reduction gear combination is one of the common propulsion system in a naval vessel. Since the diesel engine has torsional vibration caused by reciprocating motion of the mass and gas pressure force of the cylinder, high cycle torsional fatigue can be occurred. Therefore, ROK navy restricts the maximum stress of the propulsion shaft according to MIL G 17859D. In this paper, the root cause for the failure of the diesel engine and reduction gear connecting shaft occurred in typical naval vessel is investigated based on the measured bending and torsional moment according to MIL G 17859D procedure.

  • A new and rapid method for the hydrolysis of ginsenosides to panaxadiol or panaxatriol was developed. It is based on the microwave oven reaction, which is high temperature and high-pressure reaction. The optimal hydrolysis time using 5% $H_2SO_4$ solution was found at 10 min PTFE reaction vessel in microwave oven, which is more than 30 times faster than the conventional hydrolysis method.

  • Very High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor (VHTR) has been selected as a high energy heat source for nuclear hydrogen generation. The VHTR can produce hydrogen from heat and water by using a thermo-chemical process or from heat, water, and natural gas by steam reformer technology. A co-axial double-tube primary hot gas duct (HGD) is a key component connecting the reactor pressure vessel and the intermediate heat exchanger (IHX) for the VHTR. In this study, a preliminary design analysis for the primary HGD of the nuclear hydrogen system was carried out. These preliminary design activities include a determination of the size, a strength evaluation and an appropriate material selection. The determination of the size was undertaken based on various engineering concepts, such as a constant flow velocity model, a constant flow rate model, a constant hydraulic head model, and finally a heat balanced model.

Mn 강재 고압용기의 파단 원인 분석 (Failure Analysis of Mn-Steel High Pressure Gas Cylinder)

  • This paper presents an investigation why Mn-steel high pressure gas cylinders have been failed in service. The fractured cylinders have been collected to identify the reason of the failure using various methods. The undamaged, new cylinder has also been tested for the base data. We examined the chemical compositions and fracture facets as well as the mechanical properties of the vessels. The microstructural observations of the fractured regions of the cylinder did not indicate the noticeable defects which might cause the failure. The experiments of cylinders on the compositinal and mechanical tests showed that the cylinder was in good shape according the standards of gas pressure vessel. The morphological analysis of the fracture surfaces concluded that the origin of the failure was the local weak segments induced by the external impact to the cylinder, which result in a sudden, fast fracture.

Comparative study of Metallic and Polymer Composite Shells for Underwater Vessels Using FEA

  • The present research was aimed at comparing performance of metallic and polymer composite shells of a typical underwater vessel of length and inner diameter of 1650 mm and 350 mm respectively, based on the critical buckling pressure for operating depth of 1000 m using ANSYS. High strength steel, aluminium alloy, titanium alloy, glass / epoxy and carbon / epoxy materials were examined. The results indicated weight savings of 46 % in carbon/epoxy and 31 % in glass / epoxy when compared with high strength steel, based on the thickness of the shell for sustaining 10 MPa buckling pressure.

  • Today, environmental issues have become a matter of worldwide concern. In particular, automobile industries engage in considerable research and investment to develop high-efficiency and ecofriendly cars. Most ecofriendly cars use natural gas or hydrogen gas instead of fossil fuels. In this regard, low-weight and high-pressure vessels have gradually been developed to increase the driving distance of a car. However, most pressure vessels installed in cars develop many defects over time owing to shocks sustained when the car is being driven. Such defects can cause the explosion of the pressure vessel. Therefore it is important to prevent such explosions due to internal defects. The use of shearography for measuring the internal defects of objects afford many advantages. It is a non-contact and non-destructive method, and it is not limited by the object shape. In this study, the internal defect deformation and strain of an aluminum liner that is used in a CNG bus for the fuel storage tank is measured using shearography. It is important to measure the strain and deformation in order to detect defects and repair the pressure vessel. To verify the accuracy of the shearography measurement method, the measurement results of shearography, out-of-plane ESPI, and FEM are compared quantitatively.

열 나노임프린트 공정에서 가압조건이 패턴전사에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Pressurization Conditions on the Pattern Transfer in the Thermal Nanoimprint Lithography)

  • Nanoimprint lithography (NIL) is the next generation photolithography process in which the photoresist is dispensed onto the substrate in its liquid form and then imprinted and cured into a desired pattern instead of using traditional optical system. There have been considerable attentions on NIL due to its potential abilities that enable cost-effective and high-throughput nanofabrication to the display device and semiconductor industry. In this paper, a pressure vessel type imprinting system was used to imprint patterns with two type pressure values (25 bar, 30 bar) and two type pressure keeping times (5 min, 10 min). The height of transferred pattern and the thickness of residual layer were measured and effects of pressurization conditions - pressure and pressure keeping time - on the pattern transfer in thermal NIL were investigated.

  • 대기오염 등 환경에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 경유차 배출 가스 저감을 위한 최적의 대안으로 최근 세계적으로 천연가스차량의 보급이 크게 확대되고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 추세에도 불구하고 그 안전성에 대해서는 많은 논란을 불러 일으키고 있으며 최근 그 이용에 따른 안전사고 또한 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 천연가스버스 압력용기 파열 사고는 대중들이 많이 이용한다는 점에서 대형참사로 이어질 수 있는 잠재력을 가지고 있어 그 심각성은 매우 크다고 할 수 있다. 이에 법공학적인 측면에서 좀 더 전문화되고 체계적인 사고조사와 원인 규명을 통해서 사전에 예방대책을 마련함으로써 유사 및 동종재해의 발생을 최소화해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 구조해석을 통한 용기의 설계 검증과 용기의 파손형태 검사 및 재료 물성평가 등을 통해 용기파손에 의한 CNG 차량 폭발 사고에 관한 정확한 사고 원인을 규명함으로써 동일 형태의 차량 안전사고 예방에 기여하고자 한다.

격납용기 직접가열 현상에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of Direct Containment Heating Phenomena)

  • 본 논문에서는 경수로 노심 용융사고시 1차계통의 압력이 높은 경우에 발생하는 격납용기 직접가열 현상에 대한 실험연구를 하였다. 실험은 고리 1,2호기와 영광 3,4호기의 1/30 축소규모와 고리 1,2호기의 1/20 축소규모를 실험모형으로 하여 수행되었으며, 고리 1,2호기의 경우 축소 규모에 따른 검증도 시도하였다. 실험의 주요 변수는 초기 압력 용기의 압력, 파열면적 및 캐비티의 구조 등이다. 실험결과로부터 캐비티 외부로의 용융노심 분사비율은 높은 초기압력과 큰 파열면적을 가진 경우가 더 높으며 캐 비티의 구조가 분사비율에 큰 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 실험결과를 이용하여 분사비율에 대한 실험관계식을 무차원 유효시간의 함수로 도출하여 제시하였으며, 이 실험관계식은 본 실험결과 뿐만 아니라 한국 과학기술원의 실험자료 및 미국 BNL 실험결과와도 잘 일치하였다.
