This paper discusses the design of self-oscillating mixer type low noise down converter using the microwave field effect transistor. The mixer is consists of local oscillator in which high stability dielectric resonator and band pass filter to get rid of spurious oscillation at intermediate frequency stage. The microstrip antenna was integrated in the same substrate which generate 12.3GHz and low noise amplifier was also added after antenna using 3 stage of high electron mobility transistors. The output frequency from the local oscillator was chosen as 11.3GHz for the Ku-band application. The measured phase noise was -804dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset frequency, and the gain was 7~12dB in frequency range from 12.0GHz to 12.7GHz. The noise figure at intermediate frequency stage was 64H. The designed model shows less conversion loss than previous diode type mixer. The proposed mixer can be used in digital satellite broadcasting and communication system and expected to use in next generation low noise block design.

In this study, we investigated the effect of the simplification for low frequency region in Head-Related Transfer Function(HRTF) on the sound localization. For this purpose, HRTF was measured and analyzed. The result in the standard deviation of HRTF showed that the directional dependence of low frequency was smaller than that of high frequency region, which means the possibility of simplification in the low frequency region. Simplification was performed by flattening of the low frequency amplitude characteristics with the insertion of the high-pass filter, whose cutoff frequency is given by boundary frequency. Auditory experiments were performed to evaluate the simplified HRTF. The result showed that direction perception was not influenced by the simplification of the frequency characteristics of HRTF for the error of sound localization. The rate of confusion for the front and back was not affected by the simplification of the frequency characteristics within 1kHz of HRTF. Finally, we made it clear that the sound localization was not affected by the simplification of frequency characteristics of HRTF within 1kHz. The result is expected to be utilized to reduce the size of speech information with no deterioration of the directional characteristics of the speech signal.
This paper proposes a method to improve the left right discrimination performance by eliminating the imaginary target based on the frequency features of the beam pattern for bow array. The beamwidth of the imaginary target is wider than that of the real target. If an azimuth axis is considered as a time axis, the real and the imaginary targets can be assumed as high and low frequencies, respectively. To eliminate the imaginary target which has a low frequency component, we design a cut-off frequency of the High Pass Filter (HPF) using the back-lobe imaginary beamwidth. The real target is estimated by eliminating the imaginary target by applying HPF to the entire power of the beamformer output. Computer simulations show that the proposed method can increase the left right discrimination performance above 8 dB on average.

The robot control with safety consideration is required since robots and human work together in the same space more frequently in these days. For safety, robots must have compliance to human force and robust tracking performance with high impednace for the nonhuman disturbances. The novel idea is proposed to achieve the compliance and high impedance with one controller structure. For the compliance, the ISMC(Integral Sliding Mode Control) and HDOB(Human Disturbance Observer) The human force is identified by using the human band pass filter and its output is sent to the sliding surface. The sliding mode dynamic is affected by human disturbance and the compliance for human is achieved. The disturbances besides human frequencies are decoupled by the ISMC and the robust tracking is achieved. The additional LDOB(Low Frequency Disturbance Observer) decreases the maxim nonlinear gain and leads low chattering. The introduction of human disturbance into the sliding mode dynamic is the main novel idea of this paper.

This paper describes the system configuration and measured performances of a wireless power transmission system which utilizes microwave. The technically final target of this system is to provide DC power to various mobile terminals within limited spaces such as buildings, conference rooms, and so on. The prototype system is built using in-house designed and fabricated circuits such as microwave oscillator, high power amplifier, microstrip patch antenna, low pass filter, and detector/rectifier. The fixed RF power of 29.3dBm at 2.4GHz is produced from the high power amplifier and transmitted through the transmitting antenna, while the received RF power at the receiving antenna is transformed into DC power through the
detector/rectifier. The measured change of DC voltage according to the distance between transmitting and receiving antenna is described.
The main object of this study was to prove the effectiveness of different merging methods by using the high resolution IRS(Indian Remote Sensing Satellite)-1C panchromatic data and the multispectral Landsat TM data. The five methods used to merging the information contents of each of the satellite data were the intensity-hue-saturation(IHS), principal component analysis(PCA), high pass filter(HPF), ratio enhancement method and look-up-table(LUT) procedures. Two measures are used to evaluate the merging method. These measures include visual inspection and comparisons of the mean, standard deviation and root mean square error between merged image and original image data values of each band. The ratio enhancement method was well preserved the spectral characteristics of the data. From visual inspection, PCA method provide the best result, HPF next, ratio enhancement, IHS and LUT method the worst for the preservation of spatial resolution.
Tc-99m-MIBI (Sestamibi) myocardial SPECT along with TI-201 tomographic Imaging has demonstrated wide application and high image quality sufficient for the diagnosis of myocardial perfusion defect, which consequently reflects regional myocardial blood flow. The qualitative values of myocardial SPECT with Tc-99m-MIBI as well ds the quantitative cases depend in some degree on the reconstruction techniques of multiple projections. Filtered backprojection (FBP) Is the common standard method for reconstruction rather than the complicated and time-consuming arithmetic methods. In FBP it is known that the distribution of radioactivity in reconstructed transverse slices varies with the selected litter parameters such as cutoff frequencies and order (Butterworth case) The cutoff frequencies used in clinicAl practice partially remove and decrease the true radioactive distribution and alter the pixel counts, which lead to underestimation of true counts in specific myocardial regions. In this study, we have investigated the effect of cutoff frequencies of reconstruction filter on the artifactually induced perfusion defects, which are often demonstrated near inferior and/or inferoseptal cardiac walls due to the intense hepatic uptake of Tc-99m-MIBI. A computerized method for Identifying the relative degree of artifactual perfusion defect and for comparing those degrees along with the relative amount of hepatic uptake to myocardium was developed and patient images were studied to observe the quantitative degree of underestimation of myocardial perfusion, and to propose some reasonable threshold of cutoff frequency in the diagnosis of perfusion defect quantitatively. We concluded that from the quantitative viewpoint cutoff frequencies may be used as high as possible with the sacrifice of homogeneity of image quality, and those frequencies lower than the common 0.3 Wyquist frequency would reveal severe degradation of radioactive distribution near inferior and/or inferoseptal myocardium when applying Butterworth or low pass filter.
Cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) with 50~100 nm diameter were manufactured from micro-size cellulose by an application of a high-pressure homogenizer at 1,400 bar. High strength nanopapers were prepared over a filter paper by a vacuum filtration from CNF suspension. After reinforcing and dispersing CNF suspension, hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-based composites were tailored by solvent- and film-casting methods, respectively. After 2, 4, 6 and 8 passes through high-pressure homogenizer, the tensile strength of the nanopapers were extremely high and increased linearly depending upon the pass number. Chemical modification of 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorodecyl-triethoxysilane (PFDTES) on the nanopapers significantly increased the mechanical strength and water repellency. The reinforcement of 1, 3, and 5 wt% CNF to HPC and PVA resins also improved the mechanical properties of the both composites.
Since the interest of a brain science research is increased recently, various devices using brain waves have been developed in the field of brain training game, education application and brain computer interface. In this paper, we have developed a portable EEG measurement and a bluetooth based wireless transmission device measuring brain waves from the frontal lob simply and conveniently. The low brain signals about 10~100${\mu}V$ was amplified into several volts and low pass, high pass and notch filter were designed for eliminating unwanted noise and 60Hz power noise. Also, PIC24F192 microcontroller has been used to convert analog brain signal into digital signal and transmit the signal into personal computer wirelessly. The sampling rate of 1KHz and bluetooth based wireless transmission with 38,400bps were used. The LabVIEW programing was used to receive and monitor the brain signals. The power spectrum of commercial biopac MP100 and that of a developed EEG system was compared for performance verification after the simulation signals of sine waves of $1{\mu}V$, 0~200Hz was inputed and processed by FFT transformation. As a result of comparison, the developed system showed good performance because frequency response of a developed system was similar to that of a commercial biopac MP100 inside the range of 30Hz specially.
Small baseline subset (SBAS) algorithm has been recently developed using an appropriate combination of differential interferograms, which are characterized by a small baseline in order to minimize the spatial decorrelation. This algorithm uses the singular value decomposition (SVD) to measure the time-series surface deformation from the differential interferograms which are not temporally connected. And it mitigates the atmospheric effect in the time-series surface deformation by using spatially low-pass and temporally high-pass filter. Nevertheless, it is not easy to correct the phase unwrapping error of each interferogram and to mitigate the time-varying noise component of the surface deformation from this algorithm due to the assumption of the linear surface deformation in the beginning of the observation. In this paper, we present an improved SBAS technique to complement these problems. Our improved SBAS algorithm uses an iterative approach to minimize the phase unwrapping error of each differential interferogram. This algorithm also uses finite difference method to suppress the time-varying noise component of the surface deformation. We tested our improved SBAS algorithm and evaluated its performance using 26 images of ERS-1/2 data and 21 images of RADARSAT-1 fine beam (F5) data at each different locations. Maximum deformation amount of 40cm in the radar line of sight (LOS) was estimated from ERS-l/2 datasets during about 13 years, whereas 3 cm deformation was estimated from RADARSAT-1 ones during about two years.
