Test and evaluation on the suitability of operating high speed train in electrified conventional line through test run of HSR-350x (한국형 고속열차를 활용한 기존선 전철화 구간에서 고속열차 운행의 적합성 평가)

  • The KTX, which have opened the revenue service in April 2004, is operating in Kyoung-Bu high-speed line and electrified conventional Ho-Nam line, and the more the electrification are enlarged, the more the requirement of operating of high speed train would be increased. In this paper, the result of test run and evaluation on the suitability of operating high speed train in electrified conventional line between Dae-jeon and East Dae-gu was reviewed. Evaluation and analysis was executed in specific categories, such as operation & running performance of the train considering vibration characteristics based on UIC 518, ride comfort and current collection, and response sensitivity of ATS device for signalling from track facility. The result of this running test was evaluated and considered as a good practice for revenue operation of high speed train in electrified conventional line between Dae-jeon and Dae-gu.

  • In this paper, a high dividing ratio unequal power divider using parallel connection transmission line is presented. Because a very low impedance transmission line can't implement a microstrip technology, this can fabricate a parallel connection transmission line with high impedance. When we design a high dividing ratio divider, we need the very low impedance line. The parallel connection transmission line could be implemented to obtain a low impedance line characteristic. To validity this approach, we are implemented a 10:1 unequal divider at center frequency 1 GHz. The performances of power divider agree with simulation results.

  • KTX has started commercial service from Seoul to Busan and Mokpo since April 1, 2004. The service line is composed of new-high speed line and conventional line. Before KTX is runs, the maximum operational speed on conventional line was 140km/h. In order to reduce the traveling time, operation speed of KTX must be increased on the conventional line. So, we performed test running with prototype HSR-350x and verification of safety was made in $10\%$ speed-up. Korean High Speed Train HSR-350x) was developed by G7 - R&D project. In this study, in safety aspect, several technical reviews are introduced and the possibility for reduction of traveling time is investigated on the conventional line by using HSR-350x.

Miniaturized meander-line dual-band implantable antenna for biotelemetry applications

  • A dual-band bio-implantable compact antenna with a meander-line structure is presented. The proposed meander-line antenna resonates at the industrial, scientific, and medical (2.4 GHz) and wireless medical telemetry (1.4 GHz) bands. The meander-line structure is selected as a radiating patch given its versatile and effective design. With a dimension of only 10 mm × 10 mm × 0.635 mm, the designed antenna is compact. Considering a skin phantom, the proposed antenna was designed, optimized, and simulated. The Rogers RT/duroid 6010 substrate material with high dielectric constant was used to fabricate the meander-line dual-band implantable antenna, which was validated experimentally. The superstrate was made of the same material. Experiments were conducted on skin-mimicking gel. The designed meander-line antenna has a high peak gain of -21 dBi at 2.4 GHz, and its maximum specific absorption rate is compliant with IEEE safety standards.

  • This paper describes the dynamic characteristics depending on installation condition between a pantograph and an OCL (Overhead Contact Line) on a new high speed line in Korea. The current collection performance between the pantograph and the OCL was tested during train operation from Suseo to Jije stations. The current collection performance is evaluated based on the duration of an arc by using an arcing measurement system. The system consists of an optical sensor for measuring the duration of an arc and a camera for monitoring current collection performance. An arcing duration is defined as a percentage of arcing in international standards. This test aims to analyze the locations of repetitive arcing depending on installation conditions of OCLs on a new high speed line in order to use the result as reference data for correct construction and maintenance.

Dynamic response of an overhead transmission tower-line system to high-speed train-induced wind

  • The current work numerically investigates the transient force and dynamic response of an overhead transmission tower-line structure caused by the passage of a high-speed train (HST). Taking the CRH2C HST and an overhead transmission tower-line structure as the research objects, both an HST-transmission line fluid numerical model and a transmission tower-line structure finite element model are established and validated through comparison with experimental and theoretical data. The transient force and typical dynamic response of the overhead transmission tower-line structure due to HST-induced wind are analyzed. The results show that when the train passes through the overhead transmission tower-line structure, the extreme force on the transmission line is related to the train speed with a significant quadratic function relationship. Once the relative distance from the track is more than 15 m, the train-induced force is small enough to be ignored. The extreme value of the mid-span dynamic response of the transmission line is related to the train speed and span length with a significant linear functional relationship.

  • The recent machine tools are requested so high-quality processing and productivity increasing. Therefore, it is so necessary to develop technology for high-speed and high-precision. This thesis touches on the development of high speed and intellectual line center. At first, the line center is necessary that strong structure, compact structure and light weight design for high-speed processing and transfer. So, it is necessary that examination of new materials and structures for light-weight and control devices for precision processing. So, it is going to make mention of the process of 1st model production for the above-mentioned based on test model production and evaluation.

  • In this paper, the results of field testing of high-speed power line in-home networking in Korea are reported. When multiple networks share a common channel, they can interfere destructively and reduce system capacity. This is major problem in-home power line communications, especially in MDU deployments. The effects of neighboring network interference in power line communications are reported.

A Novel data line sharing method for high pixel density LCoS microdisplays

  • A new data line reduction driving method was developed for high pixel density LCoS microdisplays. Its pixel structures and its corresponding gate line waveform were proposed, too. This idea can fulfill the increasing demand for higher resolution LCoS. In this method, no additional AC power is dissipated, and no more horizontal line time is needed. So this method can be applied to the high resolution microdisplay devices. It prefers being applied to the reflective liquid crystal on silicon microdisplays because of the pixel structure asymmetry and PMOS transistor switches used.
