  • This paper proposes a hierarchical dual filtering (HDF) algorithm to estimate the spatial region between a Cloud of Things (CoT) gateway and an Internet of Things (IoT) device. The accuracy of the spatial region estimation is important for autonomous CoT clustering. We conduct spatial region estimation using a hidden Markov model (HMM) with a raw Bluetooth received signal strength indicator (RSSI). However, the accuracy of the region estimation using the validation data is only 53.8%. To increase the accuracy of the spatial region estimation, the HDF algorithm removes the high-frequency signals hierarchically, and alters the parameters according to whether the IoT device moves. The accuracy of spatial region estimation using a raw RSSI, Kalman filter, and HDF are compared to evaluate the effectiveness of the HDF algorithm. The success rate and root mean square error (RMSE) of all regions are 0.538, 0.622, and 0.75, and 0.997, 0.812, and 0.5 when raw RSSI, a Kalman filter, and HDF are used, respectively. The HDF algorithm attains the best results in terms of the success rate and RMSE of spatial region estimation using HMM.

  • Tongue image segmentation is critical for automation of the tongue diagnosis system. However, most image segmentation methods for tongue diagnosis systems in oriental medicine have been proposed as user-based manual types or semi-automatic types. This study proposed a new method for tongue image segmentation, which is the most important image processing stage for complete automation of the tongue diagnosis system in oriental medicine. The proposed method improved the conventional snake algorithm, by making improvement on the internal energy function so that, as the points move outward reversely, the snake energy function is minimized, by using the image characteristics of tongue images. To calculate external energy, hierarchical spatial filtering is applied to ensure resistance against noise. Also, The proposed method was tested by using sample images and actual images, and showed more robustness against the background noise than the conventional snake algorithm. And, when one selected point was moved by the improved snake algorithm, energy values at the starting, middle, and end points were analyzed, and showed robustness that does not fall in the local minima.

  • Open source is a key growth engine of the 4th industrial revolution, and the continuous development and use of various algorithms for image processing is expected. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of the UAS image processing open source based algorithm by comparing and analyzing the water reproduction and moving object filtering function and the time required for data processing in 3D reproduction. Five matching algorithms were compared based on recall and processing speed through the 'ANN-Benchmarks' program, and HNSW (Hierarchical Navigable Small World) matching algorithm was judged to be the best. Based on this, 108 algorithms for image processing were constructed by combining each methods of triangulation, point cloud data densification, and surface generation. In addition, the 3D reproduction and data processing time of 108 algorithms for image processing were studied for UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) images of a park adjacent to the sea, and compared and analyzed with the commercial image processing software 'Pix4D Mapper'. As a result of the study, the algorithms that are good in terms of reproducing water and filtering functions of moving objects during 3D reproduction were specified, respectively, and the algorithm with the lowest required time was selected, and the effectiveness of the algorithm was verified by comparing it with the result of 'Pix4D Mapper'.

  • The hierarchical model of galaxy formation predicts that galaxy halos contain merger relics in the form of long stellar stream. Thus, tidal substructure of stars around globular clusters, such as tidal tails, could be an essential evidence of the merging scenario in the formation of the Galaxy. From April 2010 to December 2012, we obtained $45^{\prime}{\times}45^{\prime}$ wide-field JHKs near-infrared photometric imaging data for about 20 globular clusters in the Milky Way, and examined the stellar density distribution around globular clusters. Here, we introduce the preliminary results of stellar spatial distributions and radial surface density profiles of four globular clusters. In order to minimize the field star contamination and identify the cluster's member candidates stars, we used a statistical filtering algorithm and gave weights on the CMDs of globular clusters. In two-dimensional stellar density maps, we could found tidal stripping structures for some globular clusters. The orientation of tidal substructure seems to associate with the effects of dynamical interactions with the Galaxy and cluster's orbit. Indeed, the radial surface density profile accurately describes this stripping structures as a break in the slope of profile. The observational results could give us further observational evidence of merging scenario of the formation of the Galaxy.

  • In mobile environment supporting mobility technologies, user requirements have been increased with respect to utilization of location information. In particular, moving object DBMS has consistently posed in order to efficiently maintain traffic information related to location of vehicle which tents to tremendously change over time. Despite the fact that these sorts of researches must be taken into consideration, empirical studies on moving object in terms of map database for lbs service, spatial attribute of which is continuously changed over time, have rarely performed. Therefore, aim of this paper is to suggest efficient spatial index scheme, which is capable of supporting query processing algorithm and location of moving object over time, by developing new empirical model. As a result, we can come to the conclusion that moving object model based on multi-fixed grid index makes it possible to cut down on the number of entity for retrieving. What's more, this model enables hierarchical data to be accessed through efficient spatial filtering on large-scale lbs data and constraints in accordance with level in order to display map.
