우리나라 주요 참나무류 수종의 재적생장률 추정 모델의 개발 (Development of Volume Growth Rate Model for Major Quercus Species in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 국가 산림자원조사 자료를 이용하여 우리나라에 분포하는 주요 참나무류 수종의 영급별 재적생장률을 추정하고 수종간의 통계적 차이와 연관성을 분석하고자 하였다. 또한 분석된 결과를 토대로 현재 사용되고 있는 단목재적식의 적합성 및 갱신 필요성을 점검하는 한편, 임령에 따른 수종별 재적생장률을 예측할 수 있는 모델을 개발하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 주요 참나무류 수종은 상수리나무, 갈참나무, 졸참나무, 굴참나무, 떡갈나무, 그리고 신갈나무의 6개 수종이다. 이들 수종에 대해서 표본 조사된 직경생장량을 근거로 직경생장률과 수고생장률을 산출하였으며, 이를 이용하여 최종적으로 재적생장률을 추정하였다. 추정된 재적생장률이 수종별 영급별로 차이가 있는지를 점검하기 위해 분산분석 및 Duncan의 다중검정을 실시한 결과, 참나무류 6개 수종의 영급별 재적생장률은 수종에 따라 다소 차이는 있지만, II영급에서 10% 내외의 높은 생장률을 보이다가 III영급에서는 6% 내외로 낮아지고 영급이 더 커짐에 따라 생장률은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 수종별로는 상수리나무, 갈참나무, 졸참나무의 3개 수종의 생장률이 상대적으로 높았으며, 굴참나무, 떡갈나무, 신갈나무는 생장률이 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 6개 대상수종들을 생장률이 높은 그룹과 낮은 그룹으로 나누고 그 생장률의 차이를 분석한 결과, 그룹 내에서는 큰 차이가 없었으나, 그룹 간에는 뚜렷한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과에 따라 각 그룹별 재적생장률 예측모델도 개발하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 기존의 참나무류 단목재적식을 사용하기 위해서 적용하였던 수종구분과는 다소 차이가 있는 것으로서 기존 단목재적식을 개선할 여지가 있음을 보여주고 있다.

  • In this study, Urban Climate Simulation was performed by 3-Dimensional Urban Canopy Model. The characteristics of urban climate was analyzed combining artificial land coverage, building size, heat production from the air conditioning and topographic conditions as physical variables which affects urban climate characteristics. The results are as follows. (1)The aspects of the urban climatal change is derived to be related to the combination of the building coverage ratio, building height and shading area. (2)Whole heat generation was influenced by the convective sensible heat at the lower building height and by the artificial heat generation at the higher one over 20-story building influence to some extent of the building coverage ratio. The effect of the altitude is not more considerable than the other variables as below $1^{\circ}C$ of the air temperature.

Effects of Angelica sinensis Root on Longitudinal Bone Growth Rate in Adolescent Female Rats

  • Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the effects of Angelicae sinensis Radix on longitudinal bone growth rate in rats. We have screened traditional medicinal herbs to develop the longitudinal bone growth stimulator by well-established rat model. A. sinensis was identified as one of the effective herbs in the screening process. Methods : Adolescent female rats were administered A. sinensis at doses of 30 mg/kg and 300 mg/kg for 10 consecutive days. To observe the rate of longitudinal bone growth, tetracycline was injected intraperitoneally on day 8 to stain a fluorescent band on the anew formed bone. To elucidate the mode of action, we observed insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) expression after A. sinensis administration in growth plate. Results : In the 300 mg/kg A. sinensis group, the length between the proximal endpoint of the tetracycline label and the division line between growth plate and bone was significantly increased compared with vehicle-treated control group. Height of the proximal tibial growth plate was higher in the A. sinensis group compared with control group. A. sinensis also upregulated the expressions of IGF-1 and BMP-2 in the proliferative zone and hypertrophic zone of the proximal tibial growth plate. Conclusions : A. sinensis increases longitudinal bone growth rate in rats. According to immunohistochemistry, A. sinensis increases local IGF-1 and BMP-2 expressions in the growth plate which can be considered as direct stimulation of GH on the local growth plate.

백서 하악골 후방견인후의 하악골 성장에 관한 실험적 연구 (THE GROWTH OF RAT MANDIBLES FOLLOWING MANDIBULAR RETRACTIVE FORCE)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate changes of the mandible of a growing rat when they are subjected to a retractive force and those after removal of the retractive force. The experimental animals were Sprague-Dawley male rats of four weeks of age. A mandible was retracted with 50 grams of force on each side in the posterior and superior direction for 8 hours per day. The animals were sacrificed after 1 week, 2-week and 4-week force application, and after 4-week force application-4-week force removal period. The changes of rat mandibular growth following retractive force on the growing rat mandible were observed histologically and biometrically. The findings were as follows ; 1. Histologically, the thickness of the condylar cartilage was slightly reduced in the anterosuperior region with the retractive force. However, in the group of 4-week force application-4-week force removal, there was no significant difference in the thickness of the condylar cartilage. 2. There were no significant histological changes in the articular disk and glenoid fossa through the experimental period. 3. The length and anterior height of the mandible subjected to the retractive force were significantly smaller and greater than those of the control group. 4. There were no significant differences in the mandibular length between 4-week force application - 4-week force removal and the control group. 5. It was concluded that a mandibular retractive force produced inhibitory effects in the growth of the mandible, but that these effects were not sustained during mandibular growth in this experimental model.

Crown Ratio Models for Tectona grandis (Linn. f) Stands in Osho Forest Reserve, Oyo State, Nigeria

  • Crown ratio is the ratio of live crown length to tree height. It is often used as an important predictor variable for tree growth equation. It indicates tree vigor and is a useful parameter in forest health assessment. The objective of the study was to develop crown ratio prediction models for Tectona grandis. Based on the data set from the temporary sample plots, several non linear equations including logistics, Chapman Richard and exponential functions were tested. These functions were evaluated in terms of coefficient of determination ($R^2$) and standard error of the estimate (SEE). The significance of the estimated parameters was also verified. Plot of residuals against estimated crown ratios were observed. Although the logistic model had the highest $R^2$ and the least SEE, Chapman-Richard and Exponential functions were observed to be more consistent in their predictive ability; and were therefore recommended for predicting crown ratio in the stand.

한국 소아 청소년 정상 혈압 참고치 (Normative blood pressure references for Korean children and adolescents)

  • 목 적 : 소아 청소년 건강관리에서 혈압 측정의 중요성이 점차 강조되고 있는 시점에서 한국의 소아 청소년들을 위한 정상 혈압 참고 치를 만들고자 하였다. 방 법 : 2005년에 새로운 신체성장 표준치를 만들기 위해 시행한 전국 소아 청소년들의 신체계측사업에 혈압 계측사업을 포함시켜 7-20세에 해당하는 소아 청소년 57,433명(남: 29,443명, 여: 27,990명)에서 신장, 체중 및 혈압 계측치를 얻었다. 혈압은 자동 진동혈압계인 Dinamap Procare 200(GE Inc., Milwaukee, Wi, USA)를 이용하여 측정하였고 앉은 자세에서 안정한 후 우측 팔에서 5분 간격으로 2번 측정하였다. 두 측정치의 평균치를 수축기 혈압과 이완기 혈압으로 기록하여 원 자료로 하였다. 체중이 +3SD 이상인 과체중아들 2,373명의 혈압은 제외하고 분석 하였다. 혈압 백분위수 표는 성별, 연령별, 신장 백분위수별로 만들어 졌으며 통계기법은 2004 Task Force in NHLBI (USA)이 사용한 통계기법을 원용한 고정 변형 LMS 방법을 사용하였다. 결 과 : 성별, 연령별(7-18세), 신장 백분위수별(5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, 95th) 혈압 참고치가 완성되었으며 신장 백분위수에 대한 자료는 질병관리본부 홈페이지인 http://www.cdc.go.kr/webcdc/에서 확인 할 수 있다. 고혈압의 기준치는 성별, 연령별, 신장대비에서 95 백분위수 이상으로 하고, 전고혈압 기준치는 90-95 백분위수 또는 수축기 및 이완기 혈압 130/80 mmHg 이상으로 정하였다. 결 론 : 이번에 마련된 우리나라 소아 청소년 정상 혈압 참고치는 처음이기 때문에 사용기준 및 고혈압의 기준은 앞으로 지속적인 논의와 연구가 필요할 것으로 생각된다. 또한 본 혈압 표는 자동 진동혈압계로 마련된 것이기 때문에 수동 수은 혈압계를 이용한 혈압 치를 평가하는 기준표로 사용하는 것은 주의해야 할 것이다.

Development of Field Scale Model for Estimating Garlic Growth Based on UAV NDVI and Meteorological Factors

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has several advantages over conventional remote sensing techniques. They can acquire high-resolution images quickly and repeatedly. And with a comparatively lower flight altitude, they can obtain good quality images even in cloudy weather. In this paper, we developed for estimating garlic growth at field scale model in major cultivation regions. We used the $NDVI_{UAV}$ that reflects the crop conditions, and seven meteorological elements for 3 major cultivation regions from 2015 to 2017. For this study, UAV imagery was taken at Taean, Changnyeong, and Hapcheon regions nine times from early February to late June during the garlic growing season. Four plant growth parameters, plant height (P.H.), leaf number (L.N.), plant diameter (P.D.), and fresh weight (F.W.) were measured for twenty plants per plot for each field campaign. The multiple linear regression models were suggested by using backward elimination and stepwise selection in the extraction of independent variables. As a result, model of cold type explain 82.1%, 65.9%, 64.5%, and 61.7% of the P.H., F.W., L.N., P.D. with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 7.98 cm, 5.91 g, 1.05, and 3.43 cm. Especially, model of warm type explain 92.9%, 88.6%, 62.8%, 54.6% of the P.H., P.D., L.N., F.W. with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 16.41 cm, 9.08 cm, 1.12, 19.51 g. The spatial distribution map of garlic growth was in strong agreement with the field measurements in terms of field variation and relative numerical values when $NDVI_{UAV}$ was applied to multiple linear regression models. These results will also be useful for determining the UAV multi-spectral imagery necessary to estimate growth parameters of garlic.

비거세 한우 집단에 있어 성장형질과 도체형질에 대한 유전모수의 추정 (Estimation of Genetic Parameters for Growth and Carcass Traits in Hanwoo Bull Populations)

  • 본 연구는 농협중앙회 가축개량사업소와 한우개량단지에서 생산된 비거세 한우 숫소 3,415두의 자료를 이용하여 성장형질과 도체형질에 대한 유전모수를 추정하기 위하여 실시하였다. 본 연구에 이용된 한우 집단은 상반기와 하반기의 두 집단으로 구분하였는데 상반기 집단은 1986년부터 1990년까지 생산된 숫소 1,592두로서 6개월에 검정개시하여 18개월에 종료하였고, 단방식 우사에서 개체관리를 하였다. 하반기 집단은 1991년부터 1996년까지 출생한 1,823두로 10개월에 검정개시하여 22개월에 종료하였고, 군사식 우사에서 사양관리 하였다. 6-12개월과 12-18개월 일당증체량은 상반기 집단의 경우 1.01kg과 0.77kg이였고, 하반기 집단은 0.80kg과 0.95kg으로 하반기 집단에서 보상성장이 일어난 것으로 사료된다. 12개월 및 18개월 체중의 유전력은 상반기 집단의 경우 0.37 및 0.29이었고, 하반기 집단은 0.47 및 0.33이었으며, 6${\sim}$12개월 및 12${\sim}$18개월 일당증체량의 유전력은 상반기 집단에서 0.26 및 0.11이었고, 하반기 집단은 0.33 및 0.22으로 이들 형질의 유전력은 하반기에서 높았다. 상반기 집단의 12개월령 체고, 십자부고, 곤폭 및 흉위에 대한 유전력은 각각 0.30, 0.25, 0.11 및 0.13이었으며, 하반기의 경우 각각 0.53, 0.44, 0.36 및 0.56이었다. 상반기 집단의 18개월령 체고, 십자부고, 곤폭 및 흉위의 유전력은 각각 0.40, 0.22, 0.12 및 0.21이었고, 하반기의 경우 각각 0.45, 0.42, 0.42 및 0.35이었다. 상반기 집단의 냉도체중, 도체율, 배최장근단면적, 등지방두께 및 도체장에 대한 유전력은 각각 0.11, 0.24, 0.25, 0.18 및 0.21이었고, 하반기 집단의 경우 각각 0.32, 0.52, 0.33, 0.51 및 0.58이었으며, 근내지방도의 유전력은 0.31이었다. 상 하반기간 유전상관의 추정치는 12개월 흉위, 18개월 십자부고, 도체중 및 도체율의 경우 0.8 이상이었으나 다른 형질에서의 추정치는 이보다 낮았다.

무인비행체 영상 기반 연차 간 벼 생육 및 흰잎마름병 병해 추정 (Yearly Estimation of Rice Growth and Bacterial Leaf Blight Inoculation Effect Using UAV Imagery)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a technology for estimating rice growth and damage effect according to bacterial leaf blight using UAV multi-spectral imagery. For this purpose, we analyzed the change of aerial images, rice growth factors (plant height, dry weight, LAI) and disease effects according to disease occurrence by using UAV images for 3 rice varieties (Milyang23, Sindongjin-byeo, Saenuri-byeo) from 2017 to 2018. The correlation between vegetation index and rice growth factor during vegetative growth period showed a high value of 0.9 or higher each year. As a result of applying the growth estimation model built in 2017 to 2018, the plant height of Milyang23 showed good error withing 10%. However, it is considered that studies to improve the accuracy of other items are needed. Fixed wing unmanned aerial photographs were also possible to estimate the damage area after 2 to 4 weeks from inoculation. Although sensing data in the multi-spectral (Blue, Green, Red, NIR) band have limitations in early diagnosis of rice disease, for rice varieties such as Milyang23 and Sindongjin-byeo, it was possible to construct the equation of infected leaf area ratio and rice yield estimation using UAV imagery in early and mid-September with high correlation coefficient of 0.8 to 0.9. The results of this study are expected to be useful for farming and policy support related to estimating rice growth, rice plant disease and yield change based on UAV images.

Effects of dietary flavonoids on performance, blood constituents, carcass composition and small intestinal morphology of broilers: a meta-analysis

  • Objective: This study aims to evaluate the influence of dietary flavonoids on the growth performance, blood and intestinal profiles, and carcass characteristics of broilers by employing a meta-analysis method. Methods: A database was built from published studies which have reported on the addition of various levels of flavonoids from herbs into broiler diets and then monitored growth performance, blood constituents, carcass proportion and small intestinal morphology. A total of 42 articles were integrated into the database. Several forms of flavonoids in herbs were applied in the form of unextracted and crude extracts. The database compiled was statistically analyzed using mixed model methodology. Different studies were considered as random effects, and the doses of flavonoids were treated as fixed effects. The model statistics used were the p-values and the Akaike information criterion. The significance of an effect was stated when its p-value was <0.05. Results: Dietary flavonoids increased (quadratic pattern; p<0.05) the average daily gain of broilers in the finisher phase. There was a reduction (p<0.01) in the feed conversion ratio of the broilers both in the starter (linear pattern) and finisher phases (quadratic pattern). The mortality rate tended to decrease linearly (p<0.1) with the addition of flavonoids, while the carcass parameter was generally not influenced. A reduction (p<0.001) in cholesterol and malondialdehyde concentrations (both linearly) was observed, while super oxide dismutase activity increased linearly (p<0.001). Increasing the dose of flavonoids increased (p<0.01) the villus height (VH) and villus height and crypt depth (VH:CD) ratio (p<0.05) in the duodenum. Similarly, the VH:CD ratio was elevated (p<0.001) in the jejunum following flavonoid supplementation. Conclusion: Increasing levels of flavonoids in broilers diet leads to an improvement in growth performance, blood constituents, carcass composition and small intestinal morphology.
