This study was conducted to examine the effect OTR film type on the quality of garden cress (Lepidium sativum L.) baby leaf during MA storage. Garden cress harvested at baby leaf size of 10cm plant height packed with 1,300 cc, 10,000 cc, 20,000 cc, 40,000 cc, and $80,000cc{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}day^{-1}{\cdot}atm^{-1}$ OTR (oxygen transmission rate) films and MP (micro-perforated) film, and then stored at $8^{\circ}C$ for 10 days. All of the OTR film treatments showed a decrease of 0.5% fresh weight until the storage end date and a 1.3% decrease in the MP film treatment. The oxygen concentration in the packaging during storage was maintained at 18% or more in 20,000 cc, 40,000 cc, and 80,000 cc OTR film treatments, while the 1,300 cc OTR film treatment decreased to 11% at the storage end date. And the concentration of carbon dioxide was steadily increased in the 1,300 cc and 10,000 cc OTR film treatments to show the levels of 4.5% and 3.4%, respectively, and the other OTR film treatments showed a concentration of less than 1%. Ethylene concentration in the package was maintained at the highest level of $3-5{\mu}L{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in the 1,300 cc treatment during the storage period. The lowest odor and the highest quality of appearance were observed in the 1,300 cc treatment, but the MP film treatment and the other OTR treatments lost marketable quality due to yellowing. The color of garden cress baby leaf was changed the lowest in 1,300 cc treatment that showed the highest chlorophyll content and Hue angle value, lowest $b^*$ value, present of yellowing at end of storage date. Therefore, 1,300 cc treatment which was most effective for yellowing and odor suppression during storage is considered to be suitable for packaging of garden cress baby leaf.

This study was carried out to investigate the quality characteristics of muffins with added Pholiota adiposa powder. Muffins were prepared with different amounts of Pholiota adiposa powder (in 0, 2.5, 5, 10, and 15% ratios to the flour quantity). For analyzing the quality characteristics during the manufacturing of muffins, the pH, moisture content, dough density, height, specific volume, baking loss, texture, color, antioxidant activity, total polyphenol content, and sensory test results were determined. As the Pholiota adiposa powder content increased, the moisture content of the muffins decreased from 26.72 to 22.56%. The hardness of the muffins was increased with increasing Pholiota adiposa powder content, with the muffins with 15% Pholiota adiposa powder the hardest among all the samples. The inner color of the muffins, particularly the L and b values, decreased with increasing powder content compared to those of the control, but the a value increased. As the Pholiota adiposa powder content increased, the antioxidant activity and total polyphenol content of the muffins also increased. In the sensory evaluation, the muffins with 5% Pholiota adiposa powder showed higher values than the control and the other samples in all aspects, showing that 5% Pholiota adiposa powder could be incorporated into muffins to meet the taste and functional needs of the consumers.
Traffic represents one of the largest sources of primary air pollutants in urban area. As a consequence. numerous abatement strategies are being pursued to decrease the ambient concentration of pollutants. A characteristic of most of the these strategies is a requirement for accurate data on both the quantity and spatial distribution of emissions to air in the form of an atmospheric emission inventory database. In the case of traffic pollution, such an inventory must be compiled using activity statistics and emission factors for vehicle types. The majority of inventories are compiled using passive data from either surveys or transportation models and by their very nature tend to be out-of-date by the time they are compiled. The study of current trends are towards integrating urban traffic control systems and assessments of the environmental effects of motor vehicles. In this study, a methodology of motor vehicle emission calculation by using real-time traffic data was studied. A methodology for estimating emissions of CO at a test area in Seoul. Traffic data, which are required on a street-by-street basis, is obtained from induction loops of traffic control system. It was calculated speed-related mass of CO emission from traffic tail pipe of data from traffic system, and parameters are considered, volume, composition, average velocity, link length. And, the result was compared with that of a method of emission calculation by VKT(Vehicle Kilometer Travelled) of vehicles of category.
This study was conducted to assess the effects of diet food containing Jerusalem artichoke's inulin, lotus leaf, and herb on weight and body fat. Participants in this study were selected based on the following criteria: BMI over $25kg/m^2$, body fat percentage higher than 25%, abdominal obesity level of 0.85 measured by body composition measurement unit (ZEUS 9.9 PLUS, Korea) total 24 female and male university students over 20 of age were assigned to two different groups: control group and diet group and the study was carried out for 30 days. When we measured what the tester's body weight and height, we used an automatic measure machin which is called IMI-1000 from Immanuel company and when we measured what the hip and wist circumference, we used a tape measure. When we measured body mss index (BMI), body Int, body mass, lean mass, waist/hip ratio (WHB), obesity index, we used a ZEUS9.9 PLUS-Korea which is based on bioelectrical impedance analysis, The food intake was checked by means of diet record method to be input into CAN program in order to analyze nutrient intake. Our findings indicated that the diet group, as compared to the control group, lost weight of approximately 2.5 kg and showed statistically significant difference. In addition the level of body Int, muscle, abdominal obesity, obesity, waist and bottom measurement all showed significant decrease after study period. However, there was no big difference in body fat percentage because both body fat level and muscle level dropped together, Putting all these together, diet food in this study containing Jerusalem artichoke's inulin, lotus leaf powder, and herbs powder including nettle, eucalyptus was found to be effective in significant reduction of weight and body fat and obesity-related body indicators. Also, it is considered that this diet food has potential to prevent and improve effectively obesity from abnormal fat accumulation.
This study was conducted to evaluate resistance and physiological responses of Zelkova serrata Makino seedlings to ozone in open-top chamber. One-year-old seedlings of Zelkova serrata were planted in pots in April and grown in greenhouse until August. The plants were transferred into two out-door open-top chambers with a dimension of 2.0 m in diameter and 2.0 m in height. First chamber served as a control and was supplied with ambient air. Ozone was added to the second chamber for 5 hours per day(10.00 AM-15.00 PM) for 23 consecutive days at 0.1 ppm. Each chamber housed 70 pots. Every two, three or five days after initiation of exposure, ten pots were randomly removed from the chamber and determined for the contents of chlorophyll a, b, total chlorophyll and ${\beta}$-carotene in the leaves. Photosynthesis and dark respiration were estimated by measuring $CO_2$ absorption in a gas exchange chamber and oxygen absorption by oxygen monitoring system, respectively. Superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity in the leaves was assayed by a xanthine oxidase method. First visible injury of translucent(water-soaked looking) spots appeared on the leaves 14 days after the initial exposure, and ozone accelerated senescence of old leaves. Contents of chlorophyll a and b decreased by 17%, and 31%, respectively, in ozone treatment two days after exposure. The decrease in chlorophyll b was greater than that of chlorophyll a. Content of ${\beta}$-carotene in ozone treatment decreased by 25% two days after initiation of exposure, but the reduction was recovered with time. Photosynthesis decreased by 45%, and the respiration increased by 28% in the ozone treatment. SOD activity started to increase 4 days after beginning of exposure and increased by 285% 7 days after exposure, and decreased to the level below the control treatment with the advancement of the visible injury.
This experiment was undertaken in order to clarify effect of NO$_3$-N/NH$_4$-N ratios(NO$_3$/NH$_4$ : 10:0, 8:2) in the nutrient solution on growth, yield, photosynthetic rate, relative concentration of chlorophyll and root activity of hydroponically grown pepper plants at three different root- zone temperatures of 18$^{\circ}C$, 22$^{\circ}C$ and 26$^{\circ}C$. Plant height, leaf number, stem diameter, fresh and dry weight of leaf and root were no effect in by three root- zone temperatures. However, leaf number, stem diameter, fresh and dry weight of leaf and stem, dry weight of root at 18$^{\circ}C$, 22$^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$ increased when NH$_4$-N was added to the solution. Under root-Bone temperatures of 18$^{\circ}C$, 26$^{\circ}C$ condition, fruit length were longer by the addition of NH$_4$-N. Fruit number and yield increased by the addition of NH$_4$-N at three root-zone temperatures. Photosynthetic rate decreased as root - zone temperature increased. Under root-zone temperatures of 18$^{\circ}C$, 22$^{\circ}C$ and 26$^{\circ}C$ condition, photosynthetic rate increased significantly by the addition of NH$_4$-N. Chlorophyll content of plants increased at 22$^{\circ}C$. Under root-zone temperatures of 18$^{\circ}C$, 22$^{\circ}C$ and 26$^{\circ}C$ condition, chlorophyll content of plants increased by the addition of NH$_4$-N. Root activity of increased at 26$^{\circ}C$ Under root-Bone temperatures of 18$^{\circ}C$, 22$^{\circ}C$ and 26$^{\circ}C$ condition, root activity increased by the addition of NH$_4$- N.

In this study, previously reported surplus solar energy-related study result and current status of fan coil unit (FCU) for cooling and heating installed in the current sites were briefly examined and then a method to determine the number of FCUs required to recover surplus solar energy was schematically proposed to provide basic data for researchers and technical engineers in this field. The maximum, mean, and minimum outside temperatures during the experiment period were about $28.2^{\circ}C$, $4.4^{\circ}C$, and $-11.5^{\circ}C$, respectively. The horizontal surface solar radiation level outside the greenhouse was in a range of $0.8-20.5MJ{\cdot}m^{-2}$ and mean and total solar radiation were $10.8MJ{\cdot}m^{-2}$ and $1,187.5MJ{\cdot}m^{-2}$. The mean temperature and relative humidity in the greenhouse during the daytime were in a range of 18.8-45.5 and 53.5-77.5%. The total surplus solar energy recovered from the greenhouse during the experiment period was approximately 6,613.4MJ, which could supplement about 6.7% of the total heating energy 98,600.2 MJ. In addition, the number of FCUs installed for heating varies case to case, although similar FCUs are used. Thus, it is necessary to study the installation height, orientation and installation distance as well as the appropriate number of FCUs from the efficient and economical viewpoints. The required numbers of FCUs for surplus solar energy recovery were 8.4-10.9units and 6.1-8.0units based on air mass and circular flow rate that passed through the FCUs. Considering calculation methods and the risks such as efficiency and use environments of FCUs, it was found that about nine units (one unit per $24m^3$ approximately) needed to be installed. The required number of FCUs for surplus solar energy recovery was around one unit per $24m^3$ approximately.
Lilium formolongi 'Fl August' plantlets with scale-leaves and scale-bulb were treated at 10, 15, 20, $25^{\circ}C$ for 15, 30, or 45 days and planted in February, March, April and May. In the April planting, flowering percentage was below 10% and in the May planting no flowering occurred. Sprouting and flowering percentages were lower at the late planting times. Days to flowering of the April planting was 110.8 days compared to 128 days for the February planting. Plant height and numbers of leaves were reduced to 7.2 in May planting, compared to 40.5 leaves in February planting, and almost no flowers emerged in either the April or May plantings. Plantlets exposed to 10 or $15^{\circ}C$ flowered at 80 percent or higher at all treatment durations, but at 20 or $25^{\circ}C$ flowering percentages were lower, with 30% or less in the $25^{\circ}C$ treatment. In the $15^{\circ}C$ treatment days to flowering were less than 100 days, while the number of flowers and flower bud differentiation were greatest in the $15^{\circ}C$ treatment. Cytokinin and auxin were analyzed in bulblets grown at 15, 20 and $25^{\circ}C$. T-zeatin content was three times greater in the $15^{\circ}C$ treatment than at $25^{\circ}C$, but the content of indoleacetic acid (IAA) was less at $15^{\circ}C$ than at 20 and $25^{\circ}C$. In the $15^{\circ}C$ treatment, T-zeatin content was about twice the IAA content in the scale- bulblet. The auxin and cytokinin balance may affect flower bud differentiation. $15^{\circ}C$ with 30 days was most effective for flowering in scale-bulblet and planting of February and March were effective for flowering too.
This study was conducted to find out the effect of rice straw and wollastonite applied to the paddy soil on the growth and yield of the rice plant. The soil was treated with two level of straw 0 and 88gr per pot, of which respectively combined with 4 levels of wollastonite, 0 (Avail $SiO_2$: 50 ppm), 27 (Avail. $SiO_2$: 150 ppm), 85 (Avail. $SiO_2$: 300 ppm) and 185 (Avail. $SiO_2$: 450 ppm) gr per pot. The results for two years experiment were as follows. 1. Application of rice straw and wollastonite, respectively, suppressed the growth of the plant at early stage. As a consequence the hight and number of tiller of the plant were comparatively smaller, but the combined effect of rice straw and wollastonite treatment on the plant growth appeared after the maximum tillering stage and got a better yield as compared with single treatment of rice straw or wollastonite. 2. At the pot of no rice straw and 27 gr wollastonite treatment, and also pot of rice straw and 85gr (in the year of 1983 experiment) as well as 135gr wollastonite treatment (in the year 1984 experiment), the yield of total dry material and unhulled rice of the plant were respectively higher than other pots in different treatment and the plant height showed similar tentency. Application of rice straw in paddy soil appeared to require more wollastonite for growth of the rice plant as compared with no rice straw application. 3. The highest yield was obtained at the pot with rice straw and 85gr of wollastonite treatment in the year of 1983 experiment, were its yield had 25% increament as compared with the control pot, while being studied for residual effect of rice straw and wollastonite application in the next year, the highest yield was obtained at the pot with rice straw and 135gr wollastonite treatment, where its yield had 30% increament as compared with the control pot.

This research was carried out to determine the effect of Cudrania tricuspidata fruit (CTF) on the performance of laying hens, egg quality, yolk fatty acid composition, Immunoglobulin G (IgG) and blood composition. A total 288 Brown Nick laying hens of 48 weeks old replaced into 4 groups with 4 replicates of 18 birds in each. Treatments were added with 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0% CTF containing dried seed and pulp. Metabolizable energy (ME) and crude protein (CP) were 2,800 kcal/kg and 16.0% in basal diets, respectively. Egg production and daily eggmass were significantly increased in 1.0% CTF addition treatment compared to those of other treatments (P<0.05). Egg weight and feed intake were not different among treatments. Feed conversion ratio showed the lower result in 1.0% CTF treatment than other treatments (P<0.05). Eggshell color was not influenced by the addition of CTF. Albumin height, Haugh unit and eggshell breaking strength was not statistically different, but seemed to be higher as dietary CTF addition increased. Yolk color was increased as dietary CTF increased and was the highest in 1.0% CTF group (P<0.05). Fatty acids were not shown the consistency in yolk. Blood cholesterol and triglyceride (TG) of birds fed CTF were significantly low compared to those of control. IgG was also statistically higher in CTF treatments than control (P<0.05). As the results of this experiment, the addition of 1% CTF would be the most effective on performance and egg quality, whereas the 0.25% CTF addition in basal diets seemed to be optimum to improve the blood cholesterol, TG,high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-CHOL), IgG in laying hens.
