Studies on the Influence of Various factors in Ultrasonic Flaw Detection in Ferrite Steel Butt Weld Joints

  • Parametric studies have been conducted into the variability of the factors affecting the ultrasonic testing applied to weldments. The influence of ultrasonic equipment, transducer parameters, test technique, job parameters, defect type and characteristics on reliability far defect detection and sizing was investigated by experimentation. The investigation was able to build up substantial bank of information on the reliability of manual ultrasonic method for testing weldments. The major findings of the study separate into two parts, one dealing with correlation between ultrasonic techniques, equipment and defect parameters and inspection performance effectiveness and other with human factors. Defect detection abilities are dependent on the training, experience and proficiency of the UT operators, the equipment used, the effectiveness of procedures and techniques.

  • A new state-of-the-art sloshing research equipment has developed to perform the model test of LNG tanks for the safer design of LNG cargo containment system in violent sloshing phenomena. This sloshing test system has developed by the Samsung Ship Model Basin (SSMB) and thoroughly verified. The accuracy of the motion of hexapods equipment for the excitation of a model tank has been verified. The maximum displacement in six degrees of freedom, harmonic motions of various frequencies, and irregular motions in wave conditions are measured and compared with input signals. In order to confirm the reliability of the post-processing program for measured impact pressure, the post-processed results were compared with those of the reference institute. A benchmarking sloshing test using 1/50 scale model of 160K LNGC tank was conducted for the verification of the whole testing system. The partial filing levels were considered. As a result of the experiment, it is confirmed that the results are in good agreement with those of the reference institute.

  • 휠로더는 건설 현장뿐만 아니라 운반, 제조업에도 다양한 용도로 범용적으로 활용된다. 따라서 작업장치 기본 설계 시에는 작업성능뿐만 아니라 버켓의 각도변화 등 작업사양을 만족시키는 설계 안을 도출 해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 다물체 동역학 해석을 통하여 휠로더 작업장치 특성 분석 프로그램을 개발하여 작업장치 기본설계 시 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 본 프로그램과 최적설계 프로그램의 연동을 통해서 Z-bar 타입 휠로더 작업장치의 작업사양을 개선하였다. 개발된 프로그램을 활용하여 작업장치 설계 시 작업장치 컨셉에 따른 기본설계방안을 도출하는데 소요되는 시간을 절감할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 우리나라의 RC 구조물 기계식 해체공사에서는 적절하지 못한 해체장비의 선정과 탑재가 원인이 되어 해체작업 중 구조부재가 붕괴하는 사고가 발생하기도 한다. 따라서 RC 구조물의 기계식 해체공사를 계획할 때 해체공사 담당자가 대상 구조물에 탑재 가능한 장비의 등급을 보다 편리하게 결정할 수 있는 해석기법이 필요한 실정이다. 이 논문에서는 4층 규모 실 구조물을 대상으로 재하실험과 구조해석을 수행하여, 선행연구에서 도출한 RC 구조물에 탑재 가능한 장비 등급의 적정성을 규명하고, 해체공사 담당자가 구조물의 안전성을 편리하게 평가할 수 있는 해석기법을 제안하였다. 이 연구에서 제안한 해석기법은 RC구조물 기계식 해체공사의 작업 안전성과 적정한 장비 운영을 통한 작업 효율성 향상에 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • Multilevel power conversion technology has received increasing attention recently for high power applications. The converters with the technology are suitable for high voltage and high power applications due to their ability to synthesize waveforms with better harmonic spectrum and apply for the high voltage equipment with a limited voltage rating of device. In the family of multilevel inverters, the topologies based on cascaded H-bridges are particularly attractive because of their modularity and simplicity of control. This paper presents multilevel inverter with cascaded H-bridge for large-power motor drives. The main features of this drive 1) reduce harmonic injection 2) can generate near-sinusoidal voltages, 3) have almost no common-mode voltage; 4) are low dv/dt at output voltage; 5)do not generate significant over-voltage on motor terminal; The topology of the developed product is presented and the feasibility study of the inverter on 3300v 1MVA 7-level H-bridge type was tarried out with experiments.

나선형패들이 장착된 토양전기분해장치를 이용한 중금속 오염토양 정화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Remediation of Heavy Metal Contaminated Soil using a Soil Electrolysis Apparatus with Spiral Paddle)

  • This study aimed to remove organic matter and heavy metals that could affect the recycling of soils contaminated by heavy metals, by means of electrolysis, carried out simultaneously with the leaching of the soil. To ensure better experimental equipment, a soil electrolysis apparatus, equipped with spiral paddles, was used to agitate the heavy-metal-contaminated soil effectively. The heavy-metal-contaminated soil was electrolyzed by varying the voltage to 5 V(Condition 1), 15 V(Condition 2), and 20 V(Condition 3), under the optimal operating conditions of the electrolysis apparatus, as determined through previous studies. The results showed that the pH of the electrolyte solution and the heavy-metal-contaminated soil, after electrolysis, tended to decrease with an increase in voltage. The highest removal efficiencies of TOC and $COD_{Cr}$ were 18.8% and 29.1%, 38.8% and 4.2%, and 33.3% and 50.0%, under conditions 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Heavy metals such as Cd and As were not detected in this experiment. The removal efficiencies of Cu, Pb and Cr were 4.7%, 8.3% and 2.1%, respectively, under Condition 1, while they were 42.9%, 15.2% and 22.1%, respectively, under Condition 2, and 4.7%, 23.0%, and 24.9%, respectively, under Condition 3. These results suggest that varying the voltage with the soil electrolysis apparatus for removing contaminants for the recycling of heavy-metal-contaminated soil allows the selective removal of contaminants. Therefore, the results of this study can be valuable as basic data for future studies on soil remediation.

오염연안저질에 함유된 PAH와 중금속의 생물정화를 위한 생물활성촉진제의 현장적용 (Bioremediation of Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and Heavy metals in contaminated marine sediments at filed scale study using biostimulant ball)

  • The Study mainly focused on bioremediation of 16 types PAHs and heavy metals in contaminated marine sediments at filed scale study using slow release biostimulant ball (BSB) was investigated. In our experiment, filed scale study ($1m{\times}1m$) was performed and the effect of BSB on PAHs and heavy metals were analysed. BSB size and distance were determined and optimum size and distance were 3cm and 5.5cm respectively. BSB containing nutrients of acetate, nitrate and sulphate which can enhance the activity of microorganism to increase degrading capacity of PAHs and enhance the heavy metals stabilization also to decrease bioavailability. PAHs containing 16 types of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 rings compound PAHs were found and to degrade upto 100% in 2, 3 rings, upto 90 to 94% in 4 and 5 rings and 6 ring compound was degrade up to 70%. For heavy metals stabilization percentage was increased using BSB sediment and exchangeable portion was decreased and residual portion was increased in all analysed heavy metals. BSB enhance the PAHs degradation and stabilization of heavy metals percentages. BSB is a promising method for remediation of PAHs and heavy metals in contaminated marine sediments.

  • Antilock brake System (ABS) is a essential safety equipment for modern vehicles. It prevents wheels from being locked-up when emergency braking of a vehicle is required. So it can improves directional stability of the vehicle, shortens stopping distance. Heavy Vehicles such as trucks and buses use mainly pneumatic pressures for their braking systems, where pneumatic modulators control the flow rate of compressed air thus braking pressures in the wheels.   • Axial fans are widely used in heavy machines due to their ability to produce high cooling of engines. At the same time. the noise generated by these fans causes or serious problems. This work is concerned with the low noise technique of discrete. The prediction model. which allowed the calculation of acoustic pressure at the frequency and it's harmonics, has been developed by Farrasat and the Helmholtz-Kir. The newly developed Helmholtz-Kirchhoff BEM for thin body is used to calculate the sound field of the fan that is located in a engine room. To calculate the unsteady resultant force over blade.   • This paper deals with the attitude determination using GPS carrier phase. The main factors on attitude reliability are accuracy, error factors and the real-time ambiguity resolution speed. Firstly, these factors are reviewed. And then, the attitude reliability is improved by applying the averaging method. Finally, the attitude determination software is verified by the experiments. The accuracy of the proposed attitude determination method is 0.013$^{\circ}$ PE in live test. This result is more accurate than the existing INS equipment.
